Comments about RadioShack® Plug-In Timer:

I should have spent the extra $10 and got the digital timer. This timer's mechanics broke after a few months. I just use it as an on/off switch now for a filter that is always on when plugged in.

        Comments about RadioShack® Plug-In Timer:

If you need appliances to go on and off at exact times, don't get this timer. It's hard to set the clock precisely to the current time, and in my test runs the appliance is turning on 20 minutes later than it's supposed to. This is a problem because I want to use the appliance turning on as a morning alarm clock. I guess I'll return it and get a programmable one.

          Comments about RadioShack® Plug-In Timer:

Junk. I bought it about two months ago and it has already stopped working. The "On" tab will turn the appliance on but when the "Off" tab reaches the switch the clock stops -- it seems to jam -- so the attached appliance never turns off. I took the product back to the store but I did not keep the paperwork so I couldn't claim on warranty, and the store clerk didn't offer anything but puzzlement over why the product should have failed. Lesson learned: even for a simple electromechanical device such as this, if you buy it at Radio Shack it's a good idea to hold onto the paperwork.

            A minor correction

            By CocZamudio

            from Boulder, CO

            Comments about RadioShack® Plug-In Timer:

My comments about the RadioShack Timer were not completely accurate: The Timer does indeed cover enough of the second outlet that some cords or devices -- such as the small AC power supply for my cordless phone -- may not be usable, but a narrow two-prong plug should fit above the Timer. Indeed, I still recommend the RadioShack 61-265 Plug-In Timer.

                Comments about RadioShack® Plug-In Timer:

New unit replaced a 20+-year-old RadioShack Micronta timer that finally died with a noisy and stalling motor. The new timer is gracefully designed -- unlike the boxy old Micronta -- and plugs in right side up, not upside down. The plastic blister-pack packaging can be opened without use of sharp tools. The only downside is that it plugs into one wall socket outlet and covers the second outlet. Reasonably priced. I'd happily buy a second one from the 'Shack if I needed it.
