  1. What was announced?

General Wireless Operations Inc. dba RadioShack and several affiliated companies have filed voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy petitions in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Some RadioShack stores and the RadioShack website are currently open for business.

 

  1. Does this mean that RadioShack is going out of business?

Some RadioShack stores and the website are currently open for business and serving customers. RadioShack is exploring all available options for the Company, including alternative business models that will enable it to keep some stores open on an ongoing basis. Additionally, we expect the 425 independent dealers stores to continue to serve communities nationwide.

 

  1. How will the announcement affect customers?

Some RadioShack stores and the RadioShack website are currently open for business and RadioShack remains committed to serving its customers.

 

  1. Will RadioShack continue to accept returns?

All sales made on or after March 2, 2017 were final and returns will not be accepted. RadioShack will continue to accept returns under its current policy for purchases made prior to March 2, 2017, until further notice. RadioShack will continue to accept gift cards offered by General Wireless Operations Inc. dba RadioShack and RS Legacy Corporation (formerly known as RadioShack Corporation) in its stores through April 30, 2017. Effective March 8, 2017, RadioShack Holiday Reward Gift Cards previously issued with new Sprint line activations will no longer be accepted.

 

  1. Will RadioShack honor existing product warranties and extended warranty service contracts?

Products sold on or after March 2, 2017, do not come with a RadioShack warranty and are sold “as is.” Most national branded products come with a manufacturer’s warranty and for issues with those products customers should contact the manufacturer directly. RadioShack private label product warranties are no longer being offered. However, we will honor such warranties for products purchased prior to March 2, 2017. RadioShack will no longer sell extended warranties or fulfill extended warranty claims in its stores. Customers who purchased an extended warranty service contract and require assistance should contact Assurant at 1-800-433-5502.

 

  1. Can I still make purchases through the RadioShack website?

 RadioShack’s website remains open and is accepting orders.

 

  1. Will RadioShack be closing stores?

RadioShack is currently in the process of closing stores and may close additional stores in the future.

 

  1. Will there be going-out-of-business sales?

Some RadioShack stores and the RadioShack website are currently open for business. RadioShack has commenced inventory liquidation sales at stores that are closing.

 

  1. Will my local RadioShack store be closing? When?

Some RadioShack stores and the RadioShack website are currently open for business. RadioShack is currently in the process of closing stores and may close additional stores in the future. RadioShack is exploring all available options for the Company, including alternative business models that will enable it to keep some stores open on an ongoing basis. Upon emergence, RadioShack expects to continue serving the 425 stores operated by independent dealers.
