The Networking Tool kit: Get Connected Today
WHAT IS A WIRELESS NETWORK? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? WHICH WIRELESS ROUTER IS RIGHT FOR Me? How do I set up a wireless network?

Which wireless router is right for me?

A wireless router—the heart of your home network—uses radio waves to send, receive and resend
signals to connected devices. However, the growth of Internet-connected devices and rich media
content available through the Internet is changing the way we use our home networks.

Some questions to ask when choosing your home network are: What devices will you be connecting?
Where will you use those devices? And what is the size of your home? Your answers will all play
a factor in choosing the right router.

1. Wireless-N

If you want to surf the Web, email and chat in a relatively small apartment or office, Wireless-N might
be the choice for you.

2. Wireless-N+

Wireless-N+ usually means there are additional features beyond speed and coverage included, such
as USB ports to attach an external hard drive or a printer to enable wireless printing.

3. Dual Band

If you plan to use the network heavily for streaming music, movies, and multiplayer online games
and have several heavy users in the network in an average-sized or larger home, a dual-band router is
best for you. chart
