ive had this since the 60 gig over a yr. The blu ray dominates thats why hd-dvd lost out. compared to the 360 its way cheaper in the long run for the perks $99 to make ur 360 wifi a rechargeable battery pack or batteries for the 360 controllers compared to the usb charge ps3 controllers graphics are alot better specially since u can hold 50 gigs of data on a dual layer compared to 8 gigs on a standard dvd plus u can connect an external 500 gig harddrive cheaper then a 120 xbox harddrive overall ps3 owns and u dont have to worry about any red rings of death :)
THE PRODUCT SUCKS SO I USE THE XBOX 360 ELITE , NOTHING GREAT ABOUT IT IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK!
IT'S JUST A PIECE OF JUNK!

for the price i got this ps3. (400) it didnt satisfie me.. for the same money i could have gotten 2 ipods, or even an iphone.. dis playstation 3 is nothing new from the ps2 just better graphics, but trust me you'll get bored from it fast.. my final opinion is that if ur a rich boy, then u should but it
it is fun
i play it a lot
the graphics is everything is good
Ok dont get me wrong there are lots of great games on this system. The Graphics are amazing and the controllers are the classic Playstation format with the added SIXAXIS technology, and blu-ray has amazing picture quality. However, the one thing I find to be pretty upsetting is that this version of the PS3 system is NOT backward compatible with any PS2 games!? I dont understand why Sony would do this but it is very upsetting with so many good PS2 games out there I should be able to play them on my new system!
I have not even bought one yet, but I am going in tomorrow to my local store to pick one up. Bob's post about HD-DVd does nothing to help me decide on buying it.
i'm really satisfide with what i got. i did wait for a while so sony could fix all the bugs but in the long run it was well worth the wait. the graphics are outstanding, free online play...........need i say more on that topic, and not to mention its like a bigger better psp. oh and the wireless psp conectivity is really cool.
the option for a wirless internet conection is also a really good idea. i just love it.
HD DVD is dead in the water. BluRay has won the format war. BluRay will be the standard in High Definition home video. You are going to get a BluRay player eventually. It might as well be the best one available with the best gaming platform built in to boot. The PS3 also has built in WiFi and can be used as a web browser and as a networked media center. The fact that the 40 gig unit doesn't play PS2 games is no big deal, since if you've got a bunch of PS2 games you've probably got a PS2 console lying around also...
With the price of the PS3 being right around the price of a low-end stand-alone BluRay player, the choice is a no-brainer
A traditional DVD player style BluRay remote can be purchased seperately.
To the review who gave the machine a 3 star rating I say to you that your complaints are pointless. Sony put out TWO models of the machine an 80 gig (with full backwards compatability) and the 40 gig, without. It's still the same machine, same excellent Blu-Ray player....you just can't play PS2 games on it.All it would have took was a little bit of research before your purchase. Sounds like you need the[$] 80 gig version. The 40 is[$] for a reason.
great performance overral
This is one grat system has many sweet games awsom graphics. good games coming out for it. free online this thing has it all. only thing is that the 40GB only plays PS3 games so if you want to play PS2 or PSX you need a seperat system or download them. But overall this system rocks!!
I love the Unit and the quality of games and pictures but not being able to play PS2 games really makes this unit a hassle, spend the $100 and get the 80G Version its worth the extra cash!
The PS3 is the god of all consoles. The xbox can get down on its knees and .... well you get the point. The graphics are orgasmic, the blu-ray capabilities are amazing and you are dumb if you dont go and buy one. Seriously catch up to modern technology and get you a PS3!
This is a great product... I got this for Christmas no problems set up was easy... there are not that many games out now but the list is slowly but surely building up to be a great one....
I love this system!!!
