It flies straight to the ground. Or in circles to the ground!
I love this thing I first tried this toy at some radio shack on display. I could not beileve it, this thing flys!!!!!! it was the coolest thing ever. I just had to get it, sooooooooo, I set up some lemonade joint and I made like 50 something dollars in 5 days!!!!! I of coarse bought da vamp. it has not been a day with out using it I have crashed like a 1000 times and it flys like i just got it out of the box. My friends just love it I got like 7 people to buy it. This is so my fav rc thing you should buy it.
I saw a lot of good reviews for this product online, and decided to give it a try. I've never flown an r/c plane before, but I'm getting the hang of it.
After a number of crashes (trees, house, shed), and a dog pouncing on it- It still works great!
Even my brother thought it was "pretty cool".
FUN FUN FUN!
This is a very good product. [...] i just tried it out. Man this is the best !!!! It even outbeats the dragonfly ornithopter. I love this product. It might take some time to get used to the way it flys but in about 10 to 15 minutes of flight, you fly it like a pro. I advise not to fly it in any type of windy condition. Even a little wind can have it drifting along. THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE PRODUCT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any one that wants the best bang for there buck get this !!!! I use it to fly around with and to chase those pigeons and other birds around !!!!!!!!!!! To describe me, i love anything that flys. From ornithopers to airplanes anything remote controlled that flys got me hooked. I LOVE IT AND I AM NOT 1 BIT DISSAPOINTED..........take my word, you wont regret this product.
Having two boys of my own, I have purchased many RC toys. The Vamp works by far the best. My kids can launch and fly it on their own. I give it a big thumbs up.
i got one one april 27 2008 i never go a day without flying it it flys best in wind indores and outdores it is the most acurate flying thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for producing this toy bat. This is the best r/c aircraft for the price that I have ever seen. It is so easy to fly, I handed the transmitter to my girlfriend (never flown a model in her life) and she handled it like a pro. I fly in the evening twilight, and the glowing eyes make it possible to fly it when you can't see the rest of it. The range is good for a small, lightweight model, considering it may be carried by any wind gusts. This bird/bat is easily trimmed for flight by bending the tail slightly to one side or the other. Please produce a 2 channel gyrocopter, with single motor, single rotor, and either rudder steering or rotor tilt steering. There are several examples to be seen online. Maybe the motor and tilt mechanism from that bat can be used. Gyrocopters require a little more power that airplanes, and need good power-off steering and glide capabilities. Thanx again !!! Wonderful toy !!! PS This one is for myself.
I think that a swedish fellow named Peter Muren developed the Micro Mosquito and this new design of ornithopter called Vamp. It has a totally proportional actuator motor on the back of the wings that turn a lever that steers it.Ingenious design. I can't beleive the small price tag too. It looks really mean and super lightweight and very small. With practice you can fly in very tight places. It reminds me of an almost scale 17yr. sechada (jar fly). Very high speed plapping wings that are almost insect like rather than a bird and very realistic. I love it. It also has very long flight times with the imbeded lithium polymer battery with flights up in the 8-12 min. range. Well done Peter, Well done sir!!!
amazing. better than dragonfly.
not good on windy days (or even days with slight breeze)
it starts out a little hard to steer but once trimmed it works great.
I have noticed that the best way to trim it to fly straight or turn more one way then the other, is by using the antenna wire that hangs out in the back.
Straighten it out and it flys more tail heavy and a little slower.
Bend it forward and it flys a little faster.
But the most obvious results is by bending it to the Left or right to help in flying straight or making it turn sharper one way or the other. Works much better then sticking the little tape on the wings.
online description is wrong, this bat is radio controlled not infrared

The Vamp is Fantastic! It is stress free flying. I have a number of RC Planes, Copters etc... this is probably the most fun to fly in that I don't break a sweat with it. I find it Very Very Controlable... its incredible. Was given to me as a B-Day gift... buyer thought it looked cool. I open the package, looked at it and thought, hmmmm, probably won't fly and if it does... will break easily. I was wrong, it flies wonderfully. I actually sit in my lawn chair in the evening when there is hardly any wind and have total control - what a riot! A slight breeze adds to the fun, in that you can get some great altitude and let it drop and resume before it hits the ground. But more than a slight breeze and you will chase it. It's pretty light. Mine turns on a dime. Both left and right. In terms of durability... I have found I could not break it while flying... no sweat there and have flown mine probably 50-60 times... but... I did drop a suitcase on the tail and yes it then snapped off... ok, time to be creative... found a small girls hair clip... cut off bottom portion... bent it at what looked like the same angle... added some liquid nails to both ends of the pin, attached the tail back on... let it sit overnight... flies perfectly again... and actually the tail is probably stronger than ever now... did not seem to mind the pea size glob of liquid nails... climbs and flies awesome. This is a lot of fun for the money. At least 3 of my buddies bought one after seeing and trying mine. What a riot!!!
The little I-Vamp looks fantastic sitting still, but it is also an impressive flyer! I fly it in my large-ish living room and it's been great fun. It is incredibly durable, I've hit the walls and furniture many times and it has sustained zero damage, not even a scratch. I am a diehard R/C pilot and this little thing is just the ticket for flying inside when it's too windy to fly anything outside.
This is the easiest and funnest r/c toy i've ever had!!!
I bought this on a whim and am glad I did. This bat is so cool. Great battery life, and easy enough to fly. My four year old daughter and I have a blast with it.
Ok, my friend Kevin and I have been buying up flying RC toys for the best part of 6 months... I have a table full. The Vamp is amazing. It is a powerhouse plucky little guy that can pull off some pretty crazy acrobatics and unlike all the competition....it actually flies in a strait line and doesn't wreak itself in one crash. I'm buying more.
Its easy to use and fun. Warning may be attached by birds.
What an incredible flying machine, especially for the money!! I have an RC helicopter and this bat is a lot less frustrating and more fun too. I flew it inside a warehouse with a 100 foot ceiling and actually had to let the VAMP glide to mid level, otherwise it would have hit the roof. The inside electronic guts that makes it fly, along with the LiPo battery, is a marvel.
perfect, perfect, perfect!!! better than the dragon fly b/c it goes really high and you can control it better; coolest thing is when it dives/soars. climbs easily, flys just like a real bat. I thought the dragonfly was cool, until I bought the bat. I have 2 dragonflies, but now I'm considering taking both back and buying another bat. I really love this toy and would not trade it for the world!!!
My son got his Vamp for Xmas after seeing it at Radio Shack. Not good. First, when we went to take it out, one of the wings was already broken. I took it back to Radio Shack, and the guy tried to fix it, but it was unsuccessful, so I needed to use one of the "spare" wings before we ever got it out of the box. We took it down to the playground and had a good run for about 20 minutes until it crashed and the tail broke off. No way to fix it. No extra tail. We tried everything. [$] for 20 minutes...not a good bargain.
My son just receive this toy as a christmas gift from his uncle, and everyone has had something good to say about the toy. Its durable, charges really quick. When is up and flying it just looks like a bird. Its increidible. People ask where did you buy it. Everyone wants one. I would buy it for myself and as a gift over and over again.
I am a 60 year old kid..... I have to have all the latest gismos and gadets .... my wife gets me a Remote Control toy every Christmas .... the problem is most of them don't work very well or last .....
Well, that is not the case with the VAMP .... it is awesome. Easy to Fly. Very durable. I was the envy of all the kids (and adults) in the neighborhood..... Now they all either have bought one or it's on their list to get A.S.A.P.
I have used it for almost a full week now ... and it still works like it came right out of the box.
Charge time is good .... flight time is good.
As you can tell I highly recommend it.
There is no way to repair this product if a suport joint hops off. The extra wings are nice but usless with out the support bar. For [$], it should last a lot longer. Cheep foam and plastic.
fun,durable,easy to fly,I want another.
This thing is great, fun, and durable. You can pretty much just take this thing right out of the box and just start flying it with no problem. This thing will pretty much survive in any crash. Overall this bat is great!
I just bought this today. Brought it home, and was surprised by how easy it is to get it ready to fly. All you do is put the batteries and it's ready to go. It did however take 2 or 3 flights to master the controls but is extremely easy afterward. It is surprisingly light and very durable. I have crashed the thing into several hard objects and it still looks and works like new. It is well worth the money.
This is a true story...My 13 yr old son received this for Christmas and loved it!!! He learned to fly it very quickly and was really enjoying it UNTIL...two days after Christmas, he was flying it in our front yard in Atlanta, Ga when out of the sky swooped down a large hawk that snatched the Vamp from the air and flew off with it. At the time he was flying the Vamp about 9 or 10 feet in the air. The whole family went on a search through the neighborhood in case the hawk released it but no such luck. Our son was extremely disappointed and mad at the hawk. We regretted not getting the attack on camera. Has this happened to anyone else?
[...] The dragon fly takes some skill to fly well. The helicopters take alot of time to master. This little guy I can hand off to anyone and within a 30 sec they can fly around our store with no problems. On a full charge flying around the shop without landing and or crashing for 5 min + is not that hard to do.And the best part. IF you do crash it. 99% of the time it's fine. As a store demo for the first week its still doing well. They are brand new and very "cool" to demo to someone. Warning! Let people know that your in control of this device! I have had several people freak out thinking it was a "bat". Nothing is a better attention getter than flying a "bat" over someones head.
I just finished my first flight with my new Vamp. This thing is a blast!
Since I've only had one flight, I can't say much about the durability, but the Vamp looks like it will hold up well, and during my first flight, it ran into quite a few things with no problems.
When launching the Vamp, I found that holding it in your hand, put the throttle at about 1/2, and give it a VERY gentle toss gives a good start.
To climb, slowly increase the throttle. I was able to get the Vamp up to the rafters in the barn.
Turning will take getting used to. It starts turning very slowly, and then the turn gets quicker. When you stop turning, the Vamp continues to turn for a bit. As I started to get a feel for it, I was able to fly some figure 8's.
I figure that the stated 10 minute flight time is about right, as is the 20 minute charge time.
One thing that I noticed with mine is that it drifts to the left. There is no trim on the transmitter, but the Vamp comes with some stick-on mylar dots for this. You stick a dot on the wing opposite of the way that the Vamp wants to drift (the right wing in my case) Since I've only had one flight, I have not tried this yet.
Overall, I'm very happy with the Vamp. If you have a Dragonfly, you will find that the straight line flight of the Vamp is very similar, but the turning is completely different.
The Vamp comes with a spare set of wings.
For charging, there is a plug on the transmitter that you flip up, and plug the Vamp into. As I said, it takes about 20 minutes to charge.
One thing not mentioned in the instructions, you should let the Vamp cool down for about 10 minutes after flying before charging it up again.
I did try the Vamp outside, but it was dark out (those glowing eyes look cool) and a little windy. It's hard for me to say how the Vamp will handle the wind, since I'm learning how to fly it, but my impression is that it will do OK in a slight breeze.
Buy one, I think that you will be pleased. (And there is just the cool factor of watching something fly with flapping wings!)
Extremely easy to fly, I was up and running after a few tries. This thing is a blast to fly! I probably spend more time demontrating this to customers than I should but it is a real blast! Well built too. Doesn't bust easy like a lot of flying toys because of their weight.
