i got it for my brother for his birthday, he loved it. But after an hour or so it started to slow down, but if you flip it on it's back the legs move normally. We're still trying to figure out how to fix it. If anyone knows, that will be great! Overall it's a pretty good product, it just needs some tweaking.

Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

A little over priced for what it is capable of doing. But I wanted one as soon as I saw it. I love elecctronic stuff. I have the blue one, Charlie. And because of the lack of instructions inside or on the box, I was unaware that clapping or loud noises made it turn (or I should say backup). I had to find that out by looking it up on RadioShack's site. I was wondering what that little cylinder on the back was for. I would of like to have seen a couple of little lights on it myself. Like maybe where the eyes should be. TTFN! :)

It seemed like it would be good. My cats were interested but got bored when it would get stuck on the edge of rugs or electrical cords. I thought I would bend the antenna down. I did and now it only reverses. It never goes straight ahead and I can't find any help for undoing what I did.

Stocking Stuffer for a 9 yr old boy
By Go BUCKEYES from Columbus, OH on 12/25/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design
Cons:
No instructions or guide
Best Uses:
Entertainment
Describe Yourself:
Education Oriented, Working Parent

Impulse buy on black friday. Affordable and interesting design for a stocking stuffer. Just opened it and the left legs didn't work at first. We wiggled them a little and that seemed to do the trick. It has a little curve to its straight line - we will tighten/loosen as recommended by another reviewer. I didn't like that it didn't have any instructions or hints on the packaging. The ON button was pretty easy to find (looks like a tail). We have Bravo (green) - doesn't work well on carpet, but we have hardwood in most of the house and plenty of other surfaces to use.

Cool idea, needs to walk in a straight line. And really could have used a sensor to keep it from walking off of tables. Only works on flat smooth surfaces and always walks in a circle (both forwards and backwards) A bit of a disapointment, glad I only purchased one of these.

The robotic technology is cool. There was some science put in to how it walks and the sound sensor. Mine just walks in a circle since the tolerances to make it work wee are so tight and this is made cheaply.

Bottom Line:

I didn't know what to get a 9 year old boy for his birthday, and saw this and said why not? I felt a little embarrassed comparing Charlie to some of the other extravagant gifts. The child came up to my daughter(5) who feel in love with the "bug" and said, "This is great, a pet that won't get ran over! And mom won't have to feed it either." My daughter's reply was doesn't it take batteries? She also said that I hope he doesn't step on it. A boy who has had so many pets but makes their way out of their fenced yard, had tears that he really didn't have to worry about it getting ran over. It was the only gift that he just had to open before he got home. It not only drew attention from the rest of our party group and was a hit, but other parties that were taken place at the restaurant we were at couldn't help but clap and call Charlie's name to make him turn in circles. I over heard many of them saying they want that for their birthday's or Christmas, and some of the parents saying how cute it was they wouldn't mind having it on their desk's at work. It looks like that I will be buying my daughter the pink one, and the birhtday boy's two brothers each one and his sister one too. Maybe I should invest in stock?

"Fred" worked great out of the box. I reviewed a previous review about "tweeking" this little guy (or gal) and that was great advice. Bend the feelers closer to the ground and be prepared to adjust the little screw-pins holding the legs together so it crawls in a straight line. Simple adjustments for hours of fun! I plan on buying all five colors.
