My last battery of this type lasted only 6 months.
The name brand replacement I bought to replace the Radio Shack unit cost 1/3 less than the Radio Shack price.

This battery stinks. Didn't even last 1 year, before not being able to handle a charge. Buy a replacement battery some where else.

I purchased this battery in December 2008 it died in May of 2008 prior to its official "death" it had typical battery problems like not holding a charge for very long etc. It did work very well for 3 months with no problems. Why would I replace this battery for almost [$] when I can buy an entirely new phone for $19. I mean I know it is wasteful but I feel as if I have been taken advantage of. The original Uniden phone battery lasted for 5 years! The RadioShack replacement lasted almost 5 months - what is the deal with that? Perhaps it was just a faulty battery.[...]

This went into a Panasonic 900MHz cordless phone. The original battery lasted years. This RadioShack replacement battery in less than 6 months stays charged less than 2 minutes off the charging cradle! We let the new battery charge for over a day before using it for the first time.

Very disappointed. I can't recommend this battery.

This battery has replaced my original Uniden Cordless battery which lasted 7 years. This RS battery is only 3 months old and already has only a max talk time of 20 minutes. Charged it initially for 20 hours before using for first time. Bottom line: DO NOT PURCHASE this product from Radio Shack.

Put this battery into the phone and it lasted 13 months. Nicads should last at least 2 years.
I always let it run down until the phone beeped before I put it back on the charger. I know about battery chemisteries, and nicads need to be run down before they get charged or the get a memory and lose capacity. Low quality, possibly unmatched cells.

This will be the third battery I have bought for my cordless phone. The average lifespan is 2.5 - 3 years before it cannot hold a decent charge. I do like the phone though which is why I continue to replace the worn batteries.

I followed exact charging recommendation prior to first use. After 3 months, the battery lasts for less than 1/2 hour before requiring recharging. Our original battery lasted years without special care. The sales people claim it is my fault. Obviously other users have had a similar experience to mine.

The first one I bought didn't last very long, so I thought I'd give the brand a second chance. Big mistake!

DON'T BUY THESE BATTERIES!!!

Cordless phone batteries can seem to be a gimmick to most people if you take the time to learn how to correctly charge them you will get 3 to 5 years if not more from them...never had a phone battery that did not last me atleast 2 years and ALL my batteries come from [...]. If your a heavy phone user more than 4 hours a day charge it every night for 6-8 hrs then take it off the charge in the morning and leave it off allday. if you are a seldom user only charge the phone when the low battery message or light comes, usually every 3 days or so, 6-8 hours on the charger then take it off. Otherwise you are over charging the battery and making it lazy...

Accoring to a local RS store manager any battery for cordless phones is only supposed to last a year. Anything beyond that is a bonus. The original battery in one of my cordless phones lasted about 8 years.

This battery works really well... Most of these reviews don't realize the batteries are only designed to last about a year under normal use. [$] a year is not much for a phone battery that is reliable.

As with any phone ...
By Dave S from Right Here =) on 4/10/2007

As with any phone battery, charge 12 to 14 hours before using. Next, when you get a call do NOT hang the phone back on the charging base. This will cause the battery to develop a memory over time and will drasticly shorten it's life. Instead, don't return the phone to it's base til the end of the day, you'll find your battery lasting for years, instead of months.

This was a replacement ...
By Victoria B from Arizona on 3/27/2007

This was a replacement battery for the OEM in my Uniden cordless phone. Despite charging it correctly before using it, this battery was worse from the beginning than the worn-out one that it replaced. After a few days, it only lasted a few seconds before the phone died. I'm buying the replacement from Duracell.

Lasted just over 3 ...
By Brian S from Michigan on 3/4/2007
Pros:
Easy to use

Lasted just over 3 months. Worked good the first month and was down hill from there. Now wont hold a charge for more then 20 min. And yes I charge it correctly. Have replaced the battery in the past with this same brand and they've lasted for years. The quality and workmanship of this battery must of went down hill seeing how everyone has the same problem now.

The battery life after 4 ...
By Steve T from Wisconsin on 1/29/2007

The battery life after 4 months is 15 minutes in a Uniden Cordless Phone. And of course, the 90 day warranty is up. Would never buy a Radio Shack battery again. Wish I still had the original battery, it would power the phone for several hours when new.

By Nathanael M from Niceville, FL on 9/11/2006
Pros:
Easy to use

I found the so-called "memory effect" to be very pronounced in this battery model. The first set lasted quite a while, but after I replaced them and started keeping the phone on the charger more often, the capacity of the second set decreased rapidly. Maybe that's just user error more than anything, but they don't seem like a great type of battery to use in a phone.
