This unit was purchased about 1 month ago to power ICOM and Yaesu radios. Had it a little over a month and POOF!! The thing died. Checked the fuse, it was find. I think that the acutal manufacturer should go back to the drawing board and redesign the etire unit.

will notpower my 10 watt ...
By James W from Waggoner on 4/13/2007

will notpower my 10 watt radio without tripping out. My radio draws 11 amps at 50 watts, so 10 watts should be a no brainer, but it will not work at anythiong over 5 watts output. This is NOT a 15 amp power supply!

By JP M from Lake Zurich, IL on 10/16/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

I have been using this power supply in home automation solutions to provide power for 5 security cameras, 3 IR repeaters, 2 cordless phones, a hub, and a router (consolidating the wall-warts the each device comes with) for a little over 2 years, works great. This is a switching power supply, much cleaner output than the older units Radio Shack sold - as a result, be sure to surge supress the input, or better yet put it on a UPS!

By JD M from Champaign, IL on 10/4/2006
Pros:
Easy to use

Bought this unit to power several security cameras to get rid of all the wall warts they came with. Total current draw of all cameras combined was about 9A. Unit worked well and cool for about 3 months, then POOF! - dead unit. Opened it up for repair/fuse replacement - some hard to find MOSFETs are melted down. Fuse is fine. Don't know why, since all the cameras work when I put all the dang wall warts back on them. Guess I'd have to give this product 2 thumbs and two big toes down.

Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

I have ice chest that has to run on DC 12 volts and needs around 10 Amps. I had 2 of the orginal power supplies for it go bad because they could not carry the load. I have used this power supply 24/7 for over a year and I have never had a problem with it. It works great. It runs cool.

By Jeremy E from Danville, Ky on 8/3/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

Hi everyone this 13.8 vdc 15 amp power supply is awsome. I could not have bought a beter thing. If you ever wondered if a car radio works in the house well it sure does. I have a Ford OEM factory radio my brother gave me and I have it powered up by this radio shack black black box its awsome. All you have to do to get a car radio to work in your house is to buy this box at radio shack purchase the factory wiring harnesses in my case since mine is a Ford radio i had to buy the Ford wiring harnesses. In the end all you have to do is wire it to the black box red to red black to black, turn the power on and it should work.

By Matthew T from Alaska on 5/31/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good Value

This power supply worked well on my RC battery charger and I was very happy with it until today. Today, while doing a discharge (read very low current draw) the power supply made a pop noise then failed. I assumed that getting it replaced wouldn't be a big deal because Radio Shack is pretty good about warranty issues, however this unit only has a 90 day warranty. Because of this I can't mark the unit very reliable, as it didn't last a year and the warranty is pretty weak. Next time I'll look for something with a year warranty.

Excellent power supply. ...
By Chad B from SW Indiana on 3/19/2006
Pros:
Good performance, Reliable

Excellent power supply. The only negative I have is that the nuts on the posts do not come off. I would have like to have used ring terminals rather than bare wires. Other than that, I am very happy. I own 2 of these.
