This is a great little power supply. It's quiet and gets the job done. Have powered anything from cell phones to car stereos and CB radios with it. It's a very handy addition to any workbench or home office.
I have been getting RS products for years from scanners to batteries and power supplie. This is my 2nd power supply, after a quiet death on my trusted Micronta that passed away the other day. I currently use this unit to power my HTX-202 2m ham radio in my office/shack.
I would heartly buy another one once I get that dual bander 2/440 to add to the shack's radio desk and command post.
I bought this power supply because the wallwart that came with my scanner hums to much when using headphones or when I have it hooked to my computer.
Works as advertised. Only complaint is that the removable rubber feet are to far inward. But that is easy to fix, but a pain.
Good power source for CB radios, but it is somewhat expensive.
wow this works great i use it to power my american signal penatrator and alleter sirens it works great over all great buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I picked up this supply to run some of my amateur radio accessories and my PRO-96 scanner. Voltage is right around 13.8VDC. I have not tested the amperage output but I have no reason to believe it would not supply an honest 3A. Drawbacks? 1) When I received this power supply I had to move the adhesive-backed rubber feet to the outer edges of the unit. They were initially too far inwards and plugging my cellphone charger in the socket would cause the unit to tip forward. 2) Steep price tag for a 3A supply. (edited by moderator) 3) It'd also be nice to have a removable power cord, but I doubt Radio Shack would be able to get the removable power cord socket to fit well in the compact enclosure. 4) I'd also like to see removable nuts on the binding posts. This would allow the placement of ring terminals on the binding posts. Features/Benefits? 1) Very high quality unit... much better than the 3A Samlex switching power supply I used to have. The case looks sharp! 2) Lightweight and very practical, having binding posts and the lighter socket on the front. 3) Inside there is a bit of extra space in the rear corner opposite the power cord. I plan to add a couple pairs of PowerPole outputs here with PowerPole clamps available from Powerwerx.com or possibly a potentiometer and adjustable voltage regulator to make the voltage of the binding plugs adjustable 1.5 - 12VDC. Overall, if you can get over the price this is the perfect small power supply. Look no further for something better as the quality of this unit is astounding.
Great for ham radio HT, satellite radios or anything requiring 12VDC@3amps. Very small and light...great buy
