It's really short lived. The first one lasted one year. The second lasted 9 months. This is the last time I purchased this one, only lasted 4 months. Piece of junk. No more Radio Shack batteries.

Every time I have to replace one of these the life gets shorter-The origional lasted 5 years the second was good for 2 years the last one only lasted 9 months, perhaps the chinese acid is lower quality

I'm sure this battery would be great if I could find a way to charge it. Radioshack doesn't sell battery chargers for this type of battery. Just something to consider if you want actually use the battery.The battery says not to use an automotive/marine type charger for this battery.

I have three in parrall diode separated on both charging and output side. They have worked well for over 8 years. Two have now failed, one is still going strong.
The failure was terminal corrosion which indicates sealing/outgassing problems. Planning to replace with same.

The specs say this battery is comparable to the Union MX12040 battery which is incorrect, and probably why one reviewer had trouble with it.
The MX12040 is a 12v 4Ah battery. This is a 12V 5000 mAh battery. While they're both 12V, my alarm company told me to specifically get the 4 amp hour battery for proper operation. I would be hesitant to purchase this one as a replacement.

I used it to replace my backup battery in my alarm system. It failed within 7 months. The product only has a warranty of 90 days. (My original one lasted me 7 years.)

This is the third time I've replaced my alarm battery with this type. The previous two
lasted about well over five years. No problems with it and it's cheaped then having the alarm system technician come and replace the battery.

I bought this to replace my battery for my alarm system. I don't know if I'm not connecting it right (I've tried all ways) or what, but the low battery signal is still showing up on my system. Surely I don't have to charge this before I use it?
