Be sure of correct voltage output first!

AC power cord too short, Expensive
Just because the tip fits your electronic machine, there is no assurance that the correct voltage is being supplied. Different manufacturers may install different power supply input jacks than the voltage standards specify. They assume that you will always be using the OE power supply and not an after-market device.
