This thing is so annoying to have in my patrol car. The thing squeals like a piggy. I can leave the car with nothing running but when I come back, this thing is screaming its head off. It also resets all the time and is very unreliable. NOT RECOMMENDED
Works great, but although the cord has detachable clip leading me to believe it can be replaced, no replacement cord is available anywhere. So even though it has no where near come to the end of it's life expectancy, It's dead in the water because there is a short in the cord. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT for what I paid for it!
I use this to power my laptop on the road. It is wonderful!

This is an excellent power adapter, but it has two flaws for audio equipment. First, the fan is always on, and it is noisy. The 12V adapter cable is only 3 feet, so you can't easily slip the adapter under your seat to reduce the noise. Laptop computers have had quiet fans for a decade, so its curious Radio Shack would use a noisy fan when the device is intended for use in an enclosed space.
Second, I bought this power adapter to listen to a small MP3 speaker system--and the speakers picked up an annoying vibration from this unit. This may be the fault of a poorly insulated power cable for the speaker system, but the sound is not picked up when plugged into an outlet at home.
Very noisy cooling fan that runs all the time, irrespective of load.
I installed this inverter into my 2000 ford e150 and it works great. It can power a laptop and three game sytems at the same time. I even used a box fan and a solder pencil with it. the reason I installed it was if your going to use more than 140 watts you can't plug it into the accesory outlets in your car. You must connect it directly to either the battery or to the fuse box which is what I did.
I used it to play my wii and it was awsome it never stoped workin. Some times it smelled like it was burning but it never was. It is a great buy.
I bought this product to recharge digital camera, cell phone, and other batteries while on safari in Africa. It worked great! Previous trip I had the smaller (75W or 150W, can't remember which) unit which was horrible because 1) it kept falling out with bumps, and 2) it blew a fuse in safari vehicle in the middle of nowhere, and self-destructed! This 350W unit is great, had no problems, just heavier to carry but stable, easy to use, can charge multiple things at once. Very happy with it. my safari guide asked to buy it off me at the end of the trip he liked it so much!
It's small, so it's easy to store in the car all the time. It comes with cables with which to attach it to a car battery, as well as a power outlet plug. Two 120-volt grounded outlets. Pretty quiet.
