I use this to connect a 55W light bulb. It should be able to handle the power draw but... The spring in the tip of the plug is soldered to the metal tip piece. This point tends to overheat, the solder melts and the spring looses it's spring and compresses permanently. It takes time to do this but I am unable to find a replacement tip w/ spring. By the way, no other plug has held up as well as this one has.
