Awesome sound. I know I have Monster splitters for my pc and they don't sound bad at all and neither does this thing. The only two bad things about it are how the thing itself stays on(l.e.d's- i guess its in standby)when the car is totally off, and that you need to adjust your mp3 volume because it's going to receive what it hears. So too much gets a little static and so does not enough. I'd consider going into your media player and setting a volume limit because some songs come out on a higher volume. And, id also consider putting that volume limit on your ipod. It helps alot you just turn it all the way up and adjust it how you want it. Just a few suggestions.
Factory radio cd player is busted and was searching out a less expensive alternative to flat out replacing it. Starting looking around on the net and came across FM Transmitters that could be used with MP3 type devices. Wow am I glad I did. I went out and purchased this model and am VERY VERY pleased with the results. The reception is great and most tracks are at cd level quality. Add in the portability factor (versus the guys that hard mount in with radio hardware) and you've got a rather inexpensive great sounding alternative.
I was given this product to test, and I'm floored. I have an FM transmitter Best Buy recommended to me and I have to SHOVE it INSIDE my tape deck to get ANY reception. I tried this one out and was told I wouldn't be disappointed. He told me to plug it into my computer IN MY OFFICE and go out to my car. I did just that and I got CRYSTAL CLEAR reception. AMAZING. This thing's range is unbelievable. I'm picking one up for myself hands down. Most of the 88 channels are clear in Indy, so no worries here.
Need I say more?? Don't waste your money. I will always think twice about buying a Monster product now.
The most difficult part about using this was getting it out of the stiff plastic packaging! Once that was done the small tag on the cord has very simple steps to follow. I have a dedicated Ipod port and 12 volt outlet inside my console so that is where this went.
This actually sounds better than when using the Ipod port (which seems to support two channel stereo and not surround sound on average mp3 playback). It took 3 minutes or less to connect and select my favorite channel, and so far playback volume is about the same as my XM stations.
Reasonable price for what this does-
I had mentioned how i was very happy with this product as i used it on the way to work that morning. Listening to my mp3 player at work and then plugging in for lunch i noticed something. Super low volume. For some reason it wasn't transmitting as before. I thought something was wrong and became upset after such an investment. Well that same day driving home i realized, the volume on the mp3 player itself was turned down, since the fm transmitter gets the feed from the headphone jack, this will make a big difference. Try that out before you return it, crank up the mp3 player volume when you hook it up, then fiddle with your dash stereo controls. I continue to be impressed by this device.
This product works amazing, i previously used an LG Fusic phone with it's built in fm transmitter, but after buying the Zune, i wanted to have the tunes in my car. I hooked it up, set my station and it was almost cd quality, better quality than some radio stations where i'm at. Note, there are things you have to know about fm transmitters before you buy one. Number ONE, are you in a huge city, if you are, this probably won't work, you have to have some unused frequencies. Two, positioning of the device will affect your car's reception, and reception is only as good as your vehicle's own ability. Third, atmospheric conditions affect fm frequencies. At night or cloudy days you can get stations you normally wouldn't. So choose a station for your area, test by searching manually through your stereo tuner, find one that has no signal coming through, this should sound like soft constant mild static. Anything else and you'll likely have some interference. If you find a good signal, buy your fm transmitter and try it out. I was shocked at how good this one was. One my volume scale on my car i had to have it at about 19 out of 25 to get good fair audio. With the Monster i have it at 11 or 14 and it comes out loud and clear. Remember, the problems may not be the transmitter, but where you use it. The best solution of course is a stereo with the auxiliary input, but since we don't all have them, this is a nice choice in the meantime.
Monster usually puts great product out but on this one they dropped the ball....
LOVE THIS ITEM,,, HAVE TRY OTHER ONES. AND ALWAYS LOST SIGNAL QUIT OFTEN.
Sounded great at first then as i traveled for 2 days it sounded horrible. I think it depnds on you are, not for big city people to manny stations to interfere. I will be getting a refund
I have tried different FM transmitters (ie cheaper ones) and have very little sucess. I bought this device and received a clear chrisp signal. The only con is that to select the freq you have to go to all the frequencies until you get the one you like
I use this in my car. It tunes into almost any station I chose. I tried the Zune brand tuner and griffin. Both had too much static to hear the music or the music was distorted. This things works great. I have not been on a trip yet to see how well it work on the road but around the triangle in NC, it works great. Highly recommend this!!
This product is great. I bought a different brand and am taking it back. My friend bought the monster and his car can be 30 feet away and I can pick it up clearly on my stereo. Going to get one today.
I bought a Zune. Tried out the Zune version 2 Car adapter. To much Static. Bought the Monster. Crystal clear transmission. Excellent product.
THis product is amazing i currently use it hooked up to my cell phone to play mp3's through my car radio. It works amazingly. the first station i set it to works. the only con is that the cord is long and where my cigerette lighter is is close to my steering wheel so i get extra cord just laying around. but if i have passengers in my back seat i can hand them the phone to choose different songs to play. so long cord is beneficial in some situations and not in others. It's works amazing.. and for the price it's so cheap!
I bought this because of the Monster brand name. I am sure that the Monster transmitters work fine in some regions. FM transmitters allow you to play your iPod on an unused or inactive station. Unlike other brands, some less costly, which allow you to dial-in any FM station, this unit has only eight (8) preset stations to choose from, all from around 88 to 92kHz. In my area, all of the preset stations are active stations. I could not even use the device because none of the presets would give me an unused station. Definitely choose a model that allows for dialing across the entire FM band. While driving, my experience is that any FM transmitter will have some static, some of the time, in some areas, so don't let that bother you. That is the nature of the radio. It depends on your area, your car, your weather, etc.
this thing sucks. don't get it!!! i live in a suburban area and it still is ALL STATIC. its like listening to horrible signal radio station. DO NOT GET IT! its a waste of 50 dollars. buy something else =) im returning this tomorrow

I just got this Monday afternoon and I already love it!! I have tons of stations to choose from for the best reception and even the out-of-the-box presets worked well in my garage. It's not complicated: just press button #3 and go through the stations with either button 1 or 2. Got it as a birthday gift, but would absolutely buy it for someone else. Great buy!!

I own this. I wish I didnt. Its trashy. I hate to have most of my reviews bad but truth is truth. It's NOT easy to use. Theres no back selector so you have to thumb through each station to get back to the previouse selection. Also some stations dont even work. The tuner is overpowered by the stations so the transmitter doesnt even come through. I thought the 88.'s wouldnt be used as much but theres a station on every selection from 88.1 to 89.5 were I live. Truth be told I sold a Griffin iTrip to a good iPod customer of mine and it works a lot better. Griffin is the better buy in this situation.
