Best FM Transmitter I've Ever Had!
By WillieBVerified Reviewer from Waycross, GA on 9/24/2008
Pros:
Good interface, Lightweight, Reliable Reception, Strong Construction
Cons:
Pricey

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is about the 3rd or 4th FM Transmitter I've had for my iPod and I can honestly say this one is the best by far. A little expensive but well worth it! It offers the best reception you can expect from any FM transmitter and has very little static. It has the richest, cleanest sound which appears to be a little more powerful than the rest I've tried.

The construction and build is quite good overall. The digital interface itself seems a little cheap looking and has a cheap feel to it, but the cable and connector that goes in the iPod and 12v outlet seems rock solid.

It also has three memory buttoms which I programed the same as my FM2, 1, 2, and 3 memory locations. I still haven't had to change it!

This is the only one I've tried that sounds good enough not to consider a direct connection. I will be purchasing another one soon for my wife.

I use this product in my civic everyday, and I must say, the reception is great. I've heard horror stories about these types of products being hit or miss, but the Monster iCarPlay is definitely a hit. I now have all my music w/ me in my car, so I never have to search for a cd. Set-up was a breeze, the directions offer a lot of help to anyone not tech savvy, and overall, monster put out another great product.

We used it for trips only. It worked great the first trip, but since then I never know when it will work and when it won't. When it works, I get very good reception. When it doesn't, all I get is static. Works about 20% of the times I try it. I think it is defective but didn't save receipt or register ownership - so I'm out of luck.

i bought this product in replace of cd's. i use my ipod more then my cd player. so instead of having 100 cds in my car. i can have a little credit card device that takes the place. the monster tuner worked great. and then!! just produced this horried screeching sound. on all channels. it is worth junk. radioshak wont replace it or refund. i expected the device to work longer then the warrenty. but anyways. total just. waste of money.

I have mine set in the 107.x FM range and only get minor static when near powerful transmitters.
Not sure why other people have bad reception. I have a friend with a different brand and he gets bad reception because his car atenna is on the back of the car where mine is on the front. Maybe that's it?

The unit is hard to read and produces alot of static. It is similar to listening to an AM station. Spend your money on a hard wired adapter that connects to your car stereo. The perfomance is very disappointing.

I have 2 of these and live in a flooded FM market. (Orange County, CA) I get decent clarity. Especially considering that there aren't any free radio frequencies. Still, they work fine for me most all of the time. It's overpriced at[...] After I bought mine I found it for half the price elsewhere. Look around.

This is the second FM transmitter I've purchased, both from RadioShack, and neither worked well. This one would be crystal clear for the first 5 seconds when tuning to a preset station. After that, it was nothing but static. I wouldn't buy another one.

Don't waste your money

Bottom Line:

I have had three FM iPod transmitters and this is by far the worst. The audio transmission is staticky and fuzzy, and fades in and out. In addition, the tuner on the unit is hard to work with - you can't just scroll to a frequency, you have to create a pre-set each time you change. Yes, this charges your iPod, but that's the only advantage. Save your money and buy something else.

I used to have the lower-end MONSTER FM Transmitter, but I got this one, and I love it! It is convenient because it charges the battery and plays it on the radio. I no longer have to have my ipod plugged into the transmitter and a charger. Monster has a great product. Wish it worked with ZUNE too!

The only problem that I ...
By Mallory B from Evansville on 6/12/2007

The only problem that I have with it is that it is difficult to see the display, therefore you cannot see what radio station the transmitter is set to. Otherwise it works great. Because of this, I just keep it on the same station all the time. I only run into trouble when I am traveling and have to switch to a new station.

I can't get this thing to work! I've sync'ed the icarplay frequency with that of my car (BMW), but I hear nothing! The setup seems so simple I wonder if its a radio setting....
