No, I would not recommend this to a friend
If your going to buy this scanner, re-think and go with the Uniden BCT-15-this is the best scanner Uniden has ever come out with. It just takes a while to learn how to program. If you live in the high intermod areas like me, you neeed CTCSS/DCS,this radio doesn't have that feature.

Great scanner! Saved my lots of time during a really bad storm. Plus, saved me lots of ifractions from the state police while driving across the u.s. Overall, a really really grate investment! GET ONE NOW!

Easy to use, Good features, Good reception, Good Value
Great reception with the telescoping antenna that came with it. Plus the reception you cant beat. Before using it I reccomend you thoroughly read the booklet on how to program -- itll save you alot more time in the long run. Overall great product.
