After owning this product for less than two months, the receiver quit working. Although the telephone feature no longer worked, I continued using it for a clock radio. After 7 months the entire unit quit working properly. It is now totally useless.
This clock gains about 30 seconds per week compared to my atomic clocks.
In concept, this clock/alarm/phone was exactly what I wanted -- a sleek, small unit that consumed minimal space on my bedside table. Its footprint is about one-third the size of the space occupied previously by a Kleenex-box-sized clock radio and a clunky old cordless phone.
But in short order, I discovered two design flaws that render the unit unsatisfactory for my home.
First, the gray-on-blue digital display is too bright at night, illuminating the entire room even on its lowest setting. And during the day, it is difficult to read. It's the worst of both worlds.
Second, the buttons for setting the clock, setting alarm 1 and setting alarm 2 are all exactly the same, lined up in a vertical row on the face of the unit. When the alarm rings, it's difficult to figure out which is the correct button to push to shut off the music.
Everything else about the unit is fine. Music quality fine. Phone quality fine. Radio strength strong. Ease of use, no problem.
But the glow that emanates from this unit is just too bright. I end up covering it with a magazine so that my wife and I can sleep in darkness. In the morning, I must toss aside the magazine to fumble with the off buttons.
During the day, neither of us can read the time from any distance.
As much as I wanted this combo product in concept, I'm ready to give it to the rescue mission sales shop and find an alternative.
I looked around for clock-radio-(cordless)telephones and found only this one. I expected more because it seems obvious that there would be demand for this kind of device for use in bedrooms: alarm clock with telephone but without the annoying telephone cord getting tangled and draping over one person while the other talks on the phone.
The phone, the dual alarm (serves two people very well) and radio all lack nothing in performance. The clock adjusts itself to the correct time every time the phone rings (or is it every time the phone is answered, no sure, but it works.)
The clockface conveniently has three brightness settings. The cosmetics are acceptable, but not the unit's strongest point.
Why aren't there more competing products from other companies? And why doesn't everyone have one? I wouldn't want to be without the benefits.
One possible added feature: project the time onto a wall or ceiling. I bought a separate inexpensive unit just for this purpose.
