Bought two of these phones and neither one works very well.
Lots of static while on the phone.
Seems to get worse when the cord from the handset is moved around while taking.
Also, both phones produce "feedback".
It is a high pitched squeal.
Also, caller ID screen hard to see, even after new
batteries are installed.
Awful.
Don't waste your money on these phones.
So disappointing.

More Cons than Pros

Pros:
Attractive Design, Comfortable Handset, Durable, Good Sound Quality, Nice Features
Cons:
Hang-up button position, LCD contrast changes, LCD Display too small, No Call Waiting CallerID
Best Uses:
Bedside Table phone, Conference Calls, High Call Volume, Kitchen Wall phone, Long Talks
Describe Yourself:

Primary use:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This phone was purchased because of its' styling and features. As a basic phone it works well, has good sound quality, and is durable (been bounced around quite a few times and still works). The ringer volume is good to hear it throughout the house. The silver colored model fit in perfectly with our kitchen, and the white model looks great on the bedside table.

The LCD display is the weak link. The letters are very small, the backlighting isn't bright enough, and the contrast of the display changes as the batteries wear down. As they wear, I need to go into the settings and change the contrast to make it visible again. Even then, it's hard to read the display because of the poor backlighting.

Also, the button to hang up the phone is easily pushed if you press the phone against your cheek. On our kitchen phone, it has developed static which is attributed to the hang up button. If I jiggle the hang up button, the static goes away for awhile. The phone needs to be disassembled to try and clean the contacts for this button. Is this worth it for a $20 phone? Probably not.

Coupled with an external CallerID box, it's a good phone, especially for the price range. It would be a much better phone if the LCD was bigger and brighter.

Oh yes, battery life is too short. I'm not sure what consumes the batteries. It's just unfortunate that the phone cannot derive its' primary power from the phone line.

Junk. Phone doesn't last. Used less than one year and it just went dead. Save your money and get another phone - this should never have been sold by Radio Shack. Terrible quality.

The caller ID is almost useless. Requires phone to lay flat to get good contrast and this is a wall phone.

You have to put in your own batteries, which do not last long at all. When the batteries are low, the functions stop working.

I too bought this for a senior, real large buttons and a small phone was desired for a bedroom. This phone worked only a few days, believe faulty wiring involved. I tried it in different outlets at my moms & my home, could not get a dial tone. I bought the floor demo, and possibly it was dropped or abused on display.

I returned it and bought the Clarity? Big Button Trim Phone, Model: C210 which is American made and comes with a good substantial warranty. Go for the quality, don't buy this phone.

I bought this phone a couple years ago. It's always been touchy, goes through batteries like popcorn (keep a set charged up) & the audio quality is terrible, ESPECIALLY if the batteries go away[...]

This phone was great for ...
By Maria K from NJ on 12/8/2005
Pros:
Easy to use, Good clarity, Good features

This phone was great for all of one month, then there was a wiring problem. About every 10th time when dialling 0, it would display 0 but actually dial 9. when you are dialing 011 for an international call, that makes 911 and I had the police at my house several times and had to trash the phone as it was impossible to make international calls.
