We bought this phone in December of 2006. We have replaced the batteries a few times and everything would work great. The last time we replaced the batteries the caller ID display has gone completely bonkers.

We bought this a year ago to replace our dead ATT kitchen wall phone. Our primary goals were to respect a sentimental attachment to the phone that served us for 20 years and to have good sound quality for our aging friends. Since our deal with Verison gave us free caller id that seemed to cinch the deal.

Except one needs to be extradordinarily careful when hanging up the phone because otherwise the handset lands up on the floor. Must be a sturdy handset because it still works after many trips to the floor. But how is it that a firm that hopes to be respected for technological expertise puts out an ordinary kitchen telephone with a hanger that is much too short. When you hang up on a tele-marketer you want to do it with authority and panache. The whole experience is ruined if the handset ends up on the floor. True?

We stopped using the caller id feature (which was poor to begin with) when the AA batteries ran out the second time in four months. Our Uniden portables all have caller id so this is no big loss.

Except that we should probably have ignored the caller id thing in the first place and bought one of the refurbished ATT classic kitchen wall phones for about the same price but with a wider choice of (50's-60's) colors (We could easily have added a caller id display of our own if it were important).

Still, the voice quality in and out is very good and it works fine after a year. So 3 out of 5 is fair.

I like the idea of the phone, but when someone calls, it kicks out the person you are talking to also it just drops the call to a dialtone for no reason. Poor caller Id,phone falls off hook easy, the cord to fasten to the wall was too long. I tried to take back even though i had only used 30-60 days but Radio Shack says "tough luck". They won't stand behind their product, so i will not be shopping there again. salesman rude.

Wanted a plain old fashioned wall phone with caller ID. Not only was the ID small and hard to see, but batteries needed to be replaced frequently. Also static started after I owned phone for awhile and continued even after I replaced cord. I put up a cheap old phone in same connection--no static. Would not reccomend phone to anyone.

It seemed like a good phone at first. However, the caller ID needed a battery replacement after a couple of months. It needed another battery replacement after another couple of months. After 11 months the phone stopped working completely. Since I hadn't bought an extended warranty I was out of luck. So, my recommendation is to either buy the extended warranty or not buy the phone.

I've been looking for a phone like this for the longest time. When I finally found it! I was happy but not for long. I purchased the phone to have a corded phone for when the power goes out I still have a working phone that doesn't need electric. only to have the CALLER ID quit working then the buttons quit working so the only thing this phone is good for is incoming calls. wish I still had my old phones from when I was a kid those phones never died

I might just be stupid, but I cannot find a way to set the clock. I had to buy an additional wall jack cord , because the one provided is about 9 feet too long. I would double check everything before buying this phone. For the price I think it is a poor investment...

First of all - the connecter from the phone to the wall is WAY to long..there is no way it would work to hang on the wall. I took the phone back to the store and had to BUY a 5" modular line cord. Why is it not provided with the phone? Why provide something that does not work?!I like the wall phone feature so I guess I had no choice as they are hard to find.

Good Wall Phone.close to 60's sytles

Bell not loud

Ringer is the old bell style, but does not go real loud. Caller ID screen is small and hard to read. It's not the old Western Electric wall phone your grandma had but it's close. Sound quality is good. Seems heavy duty. Had it for 2 weeks. Wish it came in black.

I have the forerunner to this product, the model 3910 which is a brushed aluminum finish. I originally got this phone for power outages. Its smart to have at least one phone that doesn't require electricity, which this one doesn't. I also like the organic ring (sound initiated by a hammer hitting a bell, what an innovation!). I just ordered caller ID from the phone company, don't see it on the LCD yet, not sure if its the phone or the phone company. The caller ID will reset the clock in between the first and second rings (per instruction manual). Personally, I love this phone, but do agree that phone purchases are a hit and miss proposition. MANY phones purchased are incredibly shoddily made. This one has worked well for me, though. Oh, one more thing, the way that the handset is designed is comfortable on my ear, unlike many other designs that are flat or just a bunch of holes in plastic.

Really like the phone ...
By Dana B from Cullman on 5/31/2007

Really like the phone only problem the battery holder dose not fit tight in side the phone this causes the display to dim and show low battery even when the batteries are good. I put a small piece of paper under the battery cover problem fixed. If they could fix this it would be a great phone.

Wall phones with caller ...
By Bev C from Buffalo N.Y. on 3/27/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good features

Wall phones with caller id are a hard find, after finding this one I was so happy. To my dismay, this phone was horrible. The clarity, the caller id did not work. I was on the phone and had a beeper. My caller on the other end could hear my conversation. I had to return it. Had another incident where I had another call and did not had to click over, the other caller just popped in. I do NOT recommend this phone at all
