No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The sound trackers have terrible single sideband components , they sound terrible to other ssb operators. Stick with the older regular 148gtl cause they sound good on ssb.

Durable, Easy to use, Good reception
I like the features of this radio and the way all of the controls are laid out. The only thing that is missing is SSB like the Cobra 148 GTL, then it would be super because you can talk a greater distance on SSB.
