No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is the second voice star headset that has died on me without warning. And I haven't even had it a year. It feels good on, but they don't last. I would highly recomend NOT purchasing this headset.

i loved the freedom it lends for a landline phone for which the handsfree devices are not as common place as the blu tooths are for the mobiles.

This product should be removed from the shelves and website.[$]. I expected it to last longer than 7 months. It first started out with a short in the cord. I kept adjusting it. Now on today 02/04/08 the headset went out completely. What a waste of money. I will not recommend this product to anyone. Also, the volume sucks. The majority of my customers voice sounded like they were calling from outer space, it was so weak. The unprofessional problem was I had to keep asking them to repeat themselves.

Weak mike, no instructions

Pros:
Clear Reception
Cons:
No instruction - earclip, Weak microphone
Describe Yourself:

Primary use:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Received sounds clearly, but the microphone transmitted sound so softly it was unintelligible unless I shouted, even with mike button at its highest level. Couldn't figure out how to use the optional ear clip because there were no instructions. Among us we got 3 sets of this product, 2 which had the microphone problem outright and a third with a microphone that worked sometimes.

This is the best headset I've owned. The ones from Best Buy with black wiring always went south within a year. This one with cloth protection is much more durable. It's also affordable and I find the quality superb, including the mic.

Weak Mic pickup and positioning
By Ol' Peculier from Dallas, TX on 11/26/2007
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Pros:
Clear Reception, Durable, Easy Controls, Great plug housing, Strong Cord sheathing
Cons:
Difficult mic positioning, Weak microphone pickup
Best Uses:
Conference Calls, Long Talks, Telecommuting
Describe Yourself:
Professional, Tech Savvy
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The mic pickup is weak and the positioning is awkward. The sound quality, however, is excellent, it's certainly comfortable and the cord sheathing and plug housing are first-rate durable. I use my headset to multitask while participating in conference calls.

Weak microphone

Personal calls

The VS310 seems to have a weak microphone, and the problem was not corrected by adjusting the controls. My daughter, whom I had called, said I sounded as if I were on the other side of a room. When I unplugged the headset and talked directly into the wireless handpiece, the sound was much stronger, on both ends. And the mute switch didn't mute. I plan to return the set to the store.

Viet Nam Veteran Approved
By RandyVerified Reviewer from Tucson, AZ on 9/26/2007
Pros:
Clear Reception, Durable, Easy Controls
Best Uses:
Conference Calls, Driving, Long Talks
Describe Yourself:

Primary use:

Finally a headset for an old Viet Nam vet who lost some of his hearing due to helicopters. I can definitely hear better. A bit clunky, but better than the small ear pieces that are constantly needing adjustment or falling out. I have received many comments on how clear my voice is and the significant reduction in background road noise. I ham a big guy with big hands and the controls are easy to use.

I use a headset all day and like a headset rather then an ear piece. I have purchased several sets and have had the wire to the jack break on all sets

It took me a long time and a lot of returns until I found a cordless phone that worked well with a headset ... a real long time. This headset works great with cordless phone by Radio Shack 43-113 [...]. Just make sure the volume control on the headset is turned up all the way or the other party may complain they can't hear you.

When talking to people ...
By Ralph S from Batavia, IL on 3/29/2007

When talking to people they said they had a very hard time hearing me. I played with all the settings but nothing helped. I returned it and purchased a Plantronics M214C. This headset works great and it cost less. Am very happy with the M214C

People on the other end ...
By Phyllis L from Eugene, OR on 1/31/2007
Pros:
Easy to use, Good Value

People on the other end consistently say they have a hard time hearing me, unless the microphone is practically in my mouth (even with the volume turned all the way up on the phone and on the headset). I would prefer a voice tube or a flexible voice piece. I love the cord, which seems less likely to develop a break in the line.

By David G from Illinois on 11/3/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good sound quality, Good Value

Long term use review (8 months) has been good. Interestingly I found my old Plantronics headband better suited to my head shape so I just popped out the current one and popped in the old one. ALSO.. I discovered the mute feature is NOT 100% silent. I muted briefly once to hollar at my kids (very stern and harsh). I came back to conference call to find dead silence. They told me they could hear everything I said. Very embarrassing.
