Excellent value for the money, I have owned one for a year now. I have it also hooked up to my computer as well as my hd cable box, excellent picture. There are a lot of tvs that cost a lot more whose picture doesn't compare, I did my home work before I brought one. No regrets I think I will buy another one.

Burned Out after 3 plus Months, Lt Use.

The Scott is used at bed time for an hour or so and in the morning for 15 to 30 minutes, to get the latest weather reports. For this light usage it is very troubling that my 32" Scott Burned or Shorted out. This occurred quite suddenly, starting with screen switching itself off at startup, after several attempts to switch it back on again we started to smell a burning electrical smell which is when we immediatly unplugged the TV.
We purchased the Scott at the July 4th sale 2007 a little over 3 months ago.
I also didn't like the fact that our HD Cable service couldn't recognize the TV with their remote. A Minor caveat but necessary to mention.
When the TV worked we were impressed with the HD images but regular broadcasts lost a lot of shadow detail. Our Older Sony XBR 32" is better in shadows and has great color, considering this is one of the last CRT tube TV's capable of handling a HD Signal, which is does quite well.

this is a very decent TV. im not sure if you can go wrong with the price. my xbox 360 looks great. my laptop looks great. i hate the remote control. i just threw it against the wall. i cant seem to get my universal remote to work with it like it's supposed to. the remote is the worst i have ever used in my history of tv's. even one of those remotes from the 70's that clicked would probably work better than what comes with it. sometimes if i press the channel button, it will go mute, or press the volume button, something else will happen. AND why doesn't scott have a website?

Unreliable TV, Not a good buy
By GMSVerified Reviewer from Burrillville, RI on 10/24/2007

Cons:
Poor quality sound, Poor Tuner, Reliability

We purchased this TV as a Christmas gift last Nov 06. It worked fine for about 7 months. After limited use the video went out. The sound goes wacky from mono-stereo causing an irritating distortion and crackle. I wish I had spent my money somewhere else, and on a different brand. I would beware! DO NOT BUY THIS TV.

I bought this TV as an Open box item right off the display because they are almost sold out everywhere and got an extra 10% off the original price. So far I am in love with this TV. I use it with my Xbox 360 and it?s great. I also use it as a large computer monitor connected to my laptop via VGA cord. This is also great. After I bought this TV I ran out and subscribed to Comcast HD TV and the images are stunning. The only downside is that this is not universal remote friendly. You are just going to have to settle with using two remotes if you have cable or Satellite.

good, but not universal remote friendly
By Steve from Niceville, FL on 8/23/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design, Clear Audio, Durable, Easy To Set Up
Cons:
Difficult Controls
Best Uses:
Large Rooms, Movies
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is a very good tv and all, good picture and sound, though there are a couple flaws in it. Remote kinda sucks. You have to almost aim it directly at the sensor to get it to respond. The tv is also not universal remote friendly. I must have tried a dozen different universal remotes on it and I returned them all because none of them worked on it, even though they said they were scott compatible. It's a good tv, but there are definitely some flaws with it. If you can live with those, then it's worth getting. If not, I'd recommend something else.

I spent weeks searching for the perfect tv. I am not rich by any means, so I needed a decent tv that wouldn't break the bank, and this is it. I went and looked at countless Vizios and Olevias, and this tv blew them away. Granted, it's probably not as sharp as a Samsung or Sony, but without them side-by-side, I can't tell any difference. Absolutely wonderful picture, and the tv itself is pretty stylish. Great Deal.

This is a great TV for the price! You can't get any better! But you do sacrifice a few things for the price... Like for one thing, the "Universal" Comcast remote does not work with this TV and the TV does not do well on dark scenes. Overall though with the number of inputs, easy setup, and great picture (aside form the dark scenes) it is a very good deal indeed.

We purchased this tv as a ...
By J G from Gulf Breeze, FL on 6/22/2007

We purchased this tv as a Christmas gift. We have not had the oppurtunity to use it since. The faulty sound board was defective causing an irritating distortion and crackle. We waited several months for Scott to get a qualified repair person to look at it. The repair people could not find the problem and had to wait for Scott to send them manuals. When they returned it as fixed, it was still not working properly. We have been trying to resolve this since getting it back in February, but now we have no tv and no refund. Scott is trying to replace our new tv with a refurbished one since they don't have any more of these. They will not give us our money back either. I would be concerned purchasing this tv. I'm confused how there are at least 5 available through their local vendors, all within 22 miles of my home, but yet Scott claims they don't have anymore. Sounds a lot like fraud to me! You may be getting my "junk" instead of a new tv and you will not have the option of a refund. There was one girl that worked for the company that actually did what she said she was going to do, but she was either fired for her efficiency or she quit out of moral obligation. Since she left, we have talked to supervisors claiming they would do something, but never followed through. Scott has very questionable business practices and they push an inferior product. I would beware!

By mark m from Florida on 12/6/2006
Pros:
Good features, GOOD PICTURE, Good Value

Setup and menus were easy. When I hooked up the antenna and scanned for HD channels I found I had 27 viewable HD channels in my location using the Catalog #: 15-1634 omni-directional antenna just stuck in my attic (to avoid conflict with the homeowner association) so I'm quite pleased with the over the air HD reception. I've got my DVD player hooked up via component and the picture is very nice although I probably need to get better cables and adjust the settings as it still isn't quite as good as I'd hoped. But overall I'm very happy with it especially for the price.

By pat m from keating on 12/4/2006
Pros:
Good features, GOOD PICTURE, Good Value

Great picture on HD - not bad on 480i or 480p. The only problem that I have is the weak digital tuner. I can get all the channels that are important to me except one (NBC). The NBC channel comes in fine with my old TV. I think I'm going to return this and stick with the old, smaller HDTV. If you're getting locals by cable or sattelite this might not matter to you, but if you're counting on over the air reception you might be better off with another TV.
