I had the older version of this and I had a blast! What stopped me though is that it is very easy to hit walls so I damaged it a lot. But you can buy new rotors for it so it should last.
This toy was a ton of fun. Although i had a little trouble with the roters. As well as the gears. They started to stop working and the helicopter had no stablility
This was a great toy after all I may have broke the rotors a lot. After a few days of practice I started to get better and I recommend this tow for all ages.
i flew it out side got about 70ft up and let it drop just to test the strenth and u know what IT SURVIVED THE BEST LITTLE RC EVER and i cept flyin!!!!!!all u who say its junk try and be more carefull and not try and spin the roturs it there stuk on somthin thats y ur geers r chippin!!!!!!!!
After practicing for a few days, I was able to fly it without too many problems. I found that I needed to take off from a smooth, flat surface such as a tile floor or table top; i.e., trying to take off of carpet would cause the chopper to rotate and fall to its side.
I bought (2) one for me and another for by brother-in-law. Needless to say that I had to buy new blades within the first week of my use. It's ok, but not durable. My brother-in-law's didn't even last a night. The gears started making a grinding noise and the chopper was very unstable. If we could get a decent time on repairs or parts, we would work on them ourselves.
I like this toy. I think people are having problems with gears getting stripped because they try to make the rotors spin while they are being obstructed. I would recommend this toy for beginners but do not agree with the age recommendations on the box. This toy won't last long in the hands of a 8 year old.
Product is very fun to fly around the house, but quality and durability are poor. 1st one had about 8 flights before one of the gears would skip about every second, making controlled flight impossible. 2nd machine would only spin to the right unless full left control input, then it barely managed to fly straight. An optical tachometer revealed huge difference in speed between rotors - must be a weak motor. Returned for a refund.
Flew well until the first crash. Broken blades were repaired and then broke again a little while later. Flew a total of 10 minutes. Simply too fragile. I do not recommend this product.
This is a great R/C Helicopter for first timers. It took several crashes and once evened out with some small screws for balance it has flown great every time. It is very important you remove from packaging very carefully so not to damage the rotors. Fly it every day and having a lot of fun.
Gave it to my Husband for Christmas, it flew once, then just kept spinning.:( Radio Shack was great with the return. :)
Bought two. Both worked GREAT. Yes it moves forward slowly but it makes it easy to control. Blades were severly chopped up after many, many crashes. Fixed with scotch tape and it seems to fly better than when new. For some reason I have to turn it off and then on again after "hard landings". Nothing bad to say about it.
Lot's of fun, still using original rotors 2 weeks/many crashes! When upper rotor began chipping at outer edges, I filled missing plastic by wrapping small piece of scotch tape around tips snug against outer rail then bought new rotors....I have yet to put new rotors on and it flies great!
Cheap garbage - Don't buy it. You will have fun for 10 minutes or two crashes whichever comes first. Radio Shack - be ashamed, very ashamed!
I got mine and about 5 minutes into it's maiden flight the bottom rotor system froze and my little helo fell about 6'. Nothing broke but I had to return it and there were none in stock to replace it. Overall it was great until the rotor locked up.
read and follow the instructions!blade kits are available. excellent for first timers and yes you learn better flight movements with a slow forward moving heli. flying the same blade runner i bought last summer and suffered lots of crashes. love it. durable. beginners choice. ps put a thumbtack in the nose to increase forward movement. not fast enough with a thumbtack then tape a penny under the front knose... thank you.
The overall look is not attractive but what is more important is the function. The first day it was fine. The device neither moves forward or reverse. After three slight crashes. The device was broken. I huge waste of money. Now I have to got out and buy my Son another helicopter. This time I will do my homework. I would not buy this product.
micro helis are very light weight which makes them somewhat fragile. Be very careful removing heli from box as I suspect many damage them before they get them out of the box. over all great little heli flys/hoovers good, lacks good forward movement, but does fly forward slowly, which is probally just well.
This chopper is a pretty good buy.The only reason i gave it an overall 4 is that it doesn't always go forward so i recommend you to tape a coin or something little and light to the nose of it to always go forward.Otherwise it is a great buy
this flies incredibly well and can indure many problems
Great first time helicopter. Have had a lot of fun and wish they had more in stock.
For the first 15 minutes this chopper was awesome, then after about 2 crashes a blade broke. I added a little tape and was flying again. It was difficult to control from the start. I had another crash or two, another blade was broken. All of these flights were indoors and the chopper "crashed" on carpet. By then end of the first day(Christmas)the chopper would not even take flight. They need to package this with about 50 extra blades and make it easier to access the inside so you can fix the gears that will be stripped. Please do not buy this product.
very hard to control. you can only make it go up and down not right or left not a good value either. pretty easy to use but the lack of a tail propeller hurts it severly. very cheap product, made out of stirefoam and the blade break every few uses. Don't get it.
Right out of the box it was ready to go thats what i loved about it. its maneuverability is realy good the only thing i dont like is it takes 45 min to charge
i would not recommend getting it cause the gears would come off the blade and it would not run
I thought this would be a good gift for my kids but one of the helis stripped its gears after about 20 minutes of playing and the other one started to chip parts of its rotor off the first day. I tood them both back to the store and got cars instead.
This is a nice little helicopter for the first 15 minutes or so. After the first minor crashes (into the floor, wall, furniture, etc.), the rotars become slightly bent. When that happens, the helicopter flies uncontrollably around in circles (even after being trimmed). So this is definately something I would have like to know before I had my girlfriend purchase me one for Christmas.
First of all it is a very durable heli, Iv wrecked it about 4 times (badly) and it hasent broke. BUT the lack of a blade on the rear end really kills its manuverability. The entire time Iv had it Iv had it totaly in controll for one flight due to its body spinning uncontrollably along with the blades causing it to hit the dual rotar blades together and wreck its self. (And the stabilizing controll does not solve this problem) Im debating wether or not to return it. Ill see if I can fix it first though.
It has been a great toy for a week and then the motor would not give it lift. The rotors seem to be fine. We put the WD 40 in the rotor shaft and it is doing much better. Thanks, and keep the tips coming. It seems to needing charged more now and new batteries more often. We have been flying it alot.
I am 37 years old and I loved it! I had the good sense to practice with it in the wide open until I got the hang of it. (trim is the key).No broken blades yet... I had a similar toy as a kid that was attached to a wire and it broke blades all the time. I'm glad this one has replacements because I had to make them as a kid. I recommend this toy for the money!!! Enjoy!
Great first RC chopper. After a little practice I was able to fly it quite well. It is rather light so just be aware of the concept of ground effect, rotor wash, and power vs. torque and the crashes will be minimal. I dont bother with trim, rather I use the anti-torque(pedals) to control right/left. Gentle control inputs are the key. Main gripes are the amount of time it takes to recharge otherwise it is a great toy and will be picking up another one soon!
It was cool for the first two or three fours but the blades broke of do not get this..
Worked great. It took a while to get the hang of it. And yes it broke, but when I crashed it blades first into a door knob, well its going to do that. I just went back to RS and got the replacement blades =)
Never buy this. It broke in less than 3hrs.The propeller cracked in flight mode. Just a waste of money. Never worth it. Just a piece of trash.
Yeah... the propellers break too easy and it is too hard to control... I was very disapointed when I flew this plane
I love this helicopter! Its so much fun and easy to fly. I mastered it within the first hour I got it. It's cheap entertainment and will keep you going for hours. Definantly got my money's worth.
Cool little Heli. Good to learn on before moving into the more expensive electrics. I shot a little WD40 down the blade shaft and drastically improved the lift and play time. A little weight on the nose helps forward speed. I have much more control with this than the Picco Z. Highly recommend for the price.
I dont like it at all b/c I got it like 3 hours ago and the helicopter went up and the propellers started wobbling then it crashed and the propellers broke the first time and u bearlie can fly it outside
I am a self proclaimed gadget freak and this is one of my favorite gadgets. I fly it at the office sometimes, people love it. great conversation starter. Good cheap fun.
It's a great toy. Quite stable and powerful - definitely takes some practice to master - which is half the fun of flying. If it's not challenging, why do it? A little weight on the nose definitely helps with the forward velocity.
This thing's a BLAST! Very good control and easy to learn to maneuver! Tried a Silverlit Pico Z and a Gyrotor...both with surprisingly BAD results. Controlling the Silverlits was almost impossible; even with the trim set to the extreem... I was shocked and dissapointed. Try THIS RS product. I think you will like it!
Does not work right. Half the time it wouldn't even get off the ground. Shuts off randomly by itself.
It did not work from the start. so, i returned it and got a Picco Z helicopter and it worked a lot better. get the Picco Z helicopter
Great idea, but doesnt work right. It will sit on the ground and spin around, and get up in the air and turn up side down and then come crashing down. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Perhaps I got a faulty Blade Runner - because simply put - it doesn't work. The motors spin up and stop. Spin up and stop. I've only had it a month and only like 5 attempted flights - no big crashes or anything either. I recommend the Pico-Z - they work well - once you get used to em ;)
this is a great product
needs a little nose weight, then flys great
This is a great little heli i get about a full 15 minutes of flight time. You can control the heli in a forward motion it just takes some skill and a little nose weight.
This thing goes thru charges to quickly. It's to big to fly indoors unless you have tall ceilings. The trim settings are terrible, I haven't ben able to enjoy flying yet as all I have been doing is rying to get th trim set to get it in the air to even fly it. I also bought a PicooZ Helicopter at Radio Shack at the same time and it is GREAT!! I'm returning this copter for 2 more of the smaller, easier to use/fly PicooZ copters. I haven't seen it on their web site but they are in stores and think they will be on this X-mas Hottest toys to have. Better get yours soon.
This is my second rc helicopter and by far the best although you cant control forward and reverse it makes up for it in other things.
I think this is a great value. despite only two axes of control (up/down and yaw) it's a ton of fun. it's also proved fairly durable considering the type of toy it is. it's fairly easy to use, but one should start gentle and in a large open space.
I am slighly disappointed. The flight time is way too low. Frequent charges and quick battery drains takes away fun. Very disappointed that the battery charger runs on 4C batteries, which are good for only about 8 charges. This product needs to come with an AC charger. The blades are semi-durable, I replaced them once in about 10 flights. This is a fun little toy though; makes you want something bigger and better.
first of all i am a 12 yr old boy and i have many nitro hobby cars and i wanted to get a gas powered chopper but first i wanted to go easy so my dad got this mini chopper knowing i wanted one.I think it is fun great for all ages the only thing it lacks in is battery time i get about 10 mi which is pretty good considering its size but 45 mi to charge with all the technology we it should take 10 or 15. overall i say you should get it its a little pricy but if you have a kid that gets board easily (or a dad)haha then get you will have hours of fun with it
It was a fun toy untill it started turning off by itself.and when it stopped doing that the bottom prop broke.I've only had it for two days and I have to take it back.
It a fun toy. I really don't like the charge time/play time ratio. It says about 6 minutes for play, I get about 11, which is good. It says about 45 minutes for a full charge, I get about 65, which is bad. I would like to something along the lines of a fast charger. Over all, very fun, worth purchasing. Great tool to prepare me for a nitro full size model.
fun toy love it ,crashed it 4 or 5 times and its still going. can't wait for the next one.
Very good toy. Mine has survived 3 crashes and still is on the original set of rotors. My pug has stepped on it, I ran it into the ceiling fan when the fan was on and the helicopter is still going strong. I would not play with it outside, the slightest breeze can make it crash. Make sure your ceiling fans are OFF or stay away from them when helicopter is in use.
Thsi is a fun toy that will soon have you wanting a more controllable chopper.Try adding a little weight to the nose to help it fly forward.
Overall, this was a good starter heli for someone that wants learn the basics. I am about to invest in an outdoor gas powered RC heli.
this is the worst toy ever you can not make it go left or right only up and down and to top it all off you have to replace the battire every 5 min
An easy-to-hover toy, once you get the hang of it. Very slow, if not-at-all forward movement. This is NOT an uber-controllable helicoptor, hence the price. It is fun to hover and watch. Good starter toy. Battery lasts about 7-10 mins and charges fully in 45 minutes.
What a great toy! The hours of fun make it a real value. You will learn quickly, and find your going to want a bigger RC Heli. My 13 year old daughter grabbed it away from me and won't give it back. I've heard horror storys about rc heli and people getting hurt from the blads. Not with this one, it's got a safety ring around the blades. The little red flashing light ads to it's awesome looks. Well worth the money!
very entertaining. the only thing that could be better is if it flew fowards and backwards but overall a great helicopter
Junk wont even go up strait or turn
Great RC helo. Easy to fly but still challenging enough to keep it entertaining. Built tough, as well. Mine tangled with my ceiling fan and I expected to just find pieces left. However, just put it back together and it flies awesome. Definitely a great buy!
cool very cool
Excellent low cost hovering trainer, 1/3 $$ of many. Slow, easy to learn without rediculous over control. My parrot loves it too !
once you get the hang of the throtal you will have fun watch it i got it so high it landed at top of my tree and still kept going then on a roof good thing im a good climber they say indoor if wind is slow its great out side very durable mine has crashed alot and still good shape
Disappointing this toy only whent up and down. You might want to consider a better constructed one.
Lots of fun to fly with a little practice! I found I needed to weigh the nose down just a little bit for more forward momentum and added stability while flying but after that minor adjustment it flies great! After buying this, I'm seriously thinking of getting one with more control from a hobby shop. Nice first RC helicopter!
dude! this thing was awesome. it flew great you just need a little practice
This thing flies great! We have high ceilings but also works well in the roomms with low ceilings, just takes a little practice
Lots of fun! Just a little practice and it flies great. Good for training.
this is beter than my 200 dollar one
