Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

[...] Ive owned this helicopter for nearing 3 months and have broken 1 set of rotors during a pretty nasty crash. The 2nd set started to wear (mainly the lower rotor) but a dab of super glue on each tip spread thin, quickly with your finger, increases the rigidity of the rotors and increases life span. This is a great helicopter to fly inside your house, just keep it away from fans, open doors, A/C vents and ceilings. If you ever start to loose it... just let off the throttle and let it land. it hovers fine till about 6 inches off the ground and then prop wash hit... its unavoidable with EVERY helicopter. So, go buy it and have fun... be aware the rotors are flimsy but you CAN BUY NEW ONES! This is a great little heli.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I want to laugh at all the people who claim this is a bad product. the micro mosquito is an awesome machine, no questions asked. the customer support for it by Radio Shack is terrible, but anyone with any kind of experience with Radio Shack stores knows this(I yearn for the day that I can walk in and ask for a 4700 ohm resister with 5% tolerance, and the clerk actually knows what color code to look for!). HOWEVER, if you know what you're looking for, you can find anything you need in ample supply online. It IS a bit flimsy, but considering how ultra-light the device is, what can be expected??? The main rotors have been improved by another company (knock-offs! Most of the different brands parts are compatable), if the fragile rotors are a problem, order the complete rotor kit for a SYMA 608. Of all the knock-offs out there on the market, SYMA is the only company who actually made an improvement to the design. There are only two blades per rotor instead of four, and it lacks the protective rings, but the blades are thinker and more durable. I forsee Interactive adopting this design in the future for their own product, maybe the mosquito 3.5 or 4.0? the mosquito is an indoor-only machine, to be used in STILL air. Fans, A.C. and even door movement can disturb the flight of these aircraft. There are a few things one must avoid with these things-- cats, dogs, fishtanks (don't ask...), small children, and parrots. getting the mosquito in the vicinity of any of these, and you are looking at repairing, if not replacing, this nifty little device. Personal note-- If anyone comes up with a mod for floats that actually WORK, let me know. On it's own, it makes a good one-time-use submarine...[@]

I AM HERE SERIOUSLY REJECTING ALL THE PUBLISHED NEGATIVE COMMENTS AS UNFOUNDED, UNFAIR AND INAPROPRIATE, AGAINST A PRODUCT THAT IS AT THE VERY TOP OF ITS CATEGORY. ABSOLUTELY.I FIND THAT THERE IS NOTHING AT ALL NEGATIVE TO COMMENT ABOUT THIS GREAT MACHINE. Houston 4/30/08

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

its a really awesome gizmo. but the rotors are going to break again and again. Have gone to 8 R.S.'s, and no one has a clue about parts. I find Radio Shack salespeople to be inept to begin with, unless one is buying a cell phone plan. But then I called the customer service line, and the woman on the line told me they were not making that product anymore. NOt replenishing supplies, at least. So they are really just trying to dump the rest on people, to get rid of stock, not considering the need the customer will have for parts. Not fair, I say. Too bad. Its a blast until you break a rotor.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This is an incredible model R/C helicopter for the cost. The bad reviews here are from people who think that this is a toy like any other toy. It's not. There are some easy ways to make your Mosquito last for quite some time.

1. Stay away from the ceiling. The blades produce a low pressure area above the Mosquito. If you get to close to the ceiling a suction will form and will pin it there. It's hard to recover from this so try and get under it and catch it. Otherwise your mosquito is about to take a 8' fall.

2. Turn off your Air conditioning. The least turbulences in the air make the best flights.

3. If your going outside read rule 2 about turbulence.

4. If your hovering low over anything, something develops called prop wash. The mosquito will lose it's lift and fall, this happens to real helicopters as well.

5. When your prop breaks (and it will) purchase a caulk gun ($5) and a tube of Power Grab Construction Adhesive from Home Depot. Apply it to the break as little as possible so the weight doesn't screw up your balance. I put a little on the opposite blade to match. It will set up well enough in just a few hours that your flying again. This adhesive is very strong and you can shape it well for 10 minutes or so. Trim off extra with a sharp blade.

6. That little battery is a power horse. I always give it a cool off period after a flight before I re-charge it. I still get 10 minute flights from my Mosquito at almost 8 months old!

HAVE FUN

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I have spend hundreds of dollars over the years for things that fly only once or twice. The Micro Mosquito has been FABULOUS and my 9 year old and I have logged dozens of hours so far.
Helicopters are very complicated machines and I would expect to pay far more for an R/C of this sophisticaiton. The M.M. is amazingly stable and controllable. It is not built like a tank, but tanks don't fly. When you do need spare parts, there are links from the manufactur's web site. While your there, take note of their prices, Radio Shack is a bargain!
Here is my advise for other wanna be pilots: 1 Read the instructions, there are lots of tips that will keep you out of trouble. 2 You will need a moderate sized area, free of obstacles with a flat smooth floor. If you have carpet, lay down a sheet of cardboard. 3 Limit your flights to 15" from the floor while you are learning. 4 Avoid drafts. 5 While learning stay clear of all objects as anything but a flat surface will disturb the lift.
Not only would I recommend this to a friend, I have already purchased one for his next birthday. This is a MUST HAVE for all wanna be pilots!

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I bought it a couple of days ago and must say - they are actually hard to find! I had some experience with similar micro helis (Picoo Z, Air Hogs, etc.) and I knew what to expect: these things are designed for a 5 minute fun indoors. Of course as long as you know what you're doing. If you do not have any idea about areodynamics or you just don't care - I would recommend to get a shovel (a good one, be carefull not to brake it) and start helping your wife in the garden instead of posting negative comments here. BTW: I cannot believe how can you brake it on your first day. And it's not a waste of money like somebody said - it's actually a waste of Micro Mosquito. Anyways - this gizmo is actually better than I expected. It hovers very, very stable, moves in 6 directions (forward, backwards, left, right, up, down), it's very responsive to your controller and you can actually fly it very precise around your room. After 30min of charge it gives you about 10-15min of non-stop flight. You can even charge it shorter and fly shorter if you want. This is very long comparing to Picoo Z or Air Hogs which fly around 5 min if you're lucky. As far as its constuction it's a nice piece of engineering and the other guys are not even close (it's like comparing Geo Metro to BMW). For those last couple of days I used it about 15 times for a total time in the air of about 3hrs. It still works perfectly. Flimsy? Yes. It has to be - come on, it's only 20 grams. Parts hard to find? Yes. [...] Easy to brake by kids? Yes. This product is NOT for kids.

I love(d) flying it! The first one lasted only 2 flights and one of the main motors stopped functioning. Radio Shack replaced it but I had to wait 2 weeks for one to be obtained.
I enjoyed the second one for over 100 minutes of flight and became pretty good too, before a motor on it failed as well.

I damaged the first set of blades learning how to control it, but the second set lasted quite a while and were still in good shape when the motor died.

Helpful tip: I was able to repair the damaged blades several times with scotch tape. Just remember to balance the weight with an equal sized piece on the opposite blade. One blade was broken in half, I taped it and flew several more times before damaging them beyond repair.

I would reccomend it but be prepared to purchase at least a second rotor set. Of course I am disapointed in the quality of the drive motors as well.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Had wanted one of these since I saw them advertised. Thought they were pricey for kids, so never got one. Good thing Wife surprised me with one of these moderately expensive toys. Upon first attempt, multiple crashes due to learning controls. Rotors broke extremely easily! Good thing wife bought spare set, but after two more attempts these also shattered and were garbage. Used this for grand total of 30 minutes ( took longer to charge & repair than time used) [...] is ALWAYS out of stock on these replacement parts, even on-line is impossible! On their behalf, it isn't the store's fault [...]didn't plan for better stocking for these items. Resorted to [@] for generic replacements, but paid huge shipping costs so didn't save anything. Rotors still were typical Chinese quality ( garbage!) So for a toy which costs around [$]. dollars total, this was a bust. Should have used the cash to buy PS3 games :(Sorry this wasn't as fun as I hoped. My cats enjoy batting around the damaged "BIRDY" more than I did. Kinda expensive cat toy though.....

I really enjoyed the Mosquito, especially since most indoor copters tend to IR controlled, this one give you more freedom & with its 3 channel control, handling is quick to pick up. The only drawback is is construction, all it takes is a good hard crash & your grounded till you can find some replacement blades, which seem to be in short supply. I highly recommend this product but I also highly recommend you get yourself some extra blades at the time of purchase in any are available.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This little thing is great fun for a "big kid." I'm 30 and still like to get a toy every Christmas, this was my toy this year. I play / tinker with it just about every morning before work and every evening after work. I'll try to organize my review below in a useful manner:

What "I" liked: (1) It is complex with some adjustments and part replacements that have kept me interested after the "toy" novelty wears off; (2) It is a ton of fun to fly around and improve your skills, especially trying to land on small elevated places or attacking my wife's head; (3) flying it in complete darkness, the lights actually make it easier for me to fly in the dark; (4) a true 3-channel radio control mini helicopter, i.e. up/down, clockwise/counterclockwise, and forward/backwards; (5) lots of internet information for problems is available; (6) the actual body/copter is very durable but see below about parts; (7) it was perfect right out of the box, I haven't been able to get it to fly as well since my first rotor repair; (8) it scares the hell out of our cats and did I mention is it fun!

What I don't like: (1) short fly time, about 8 min at most, I might have gotten 10 min once; (2) frail rotors - you will need extras and the replacements are not nearly as good as the originals - I've found it flies dramatically different depending on the rotors I put on; (3) the charger doesn't come with an AC adapter - but you can buy one that works at RS - a must have;(4) longer than advertised recharge times, mine takes closer to an hour to get full charge than the 20-30 minutes advertised - I use AC adapter; (5) ever changing flight conditions - it seems to fly a little differently each time making it harder to improve flying skills - I believe it is a result of new rotors, occassional falls, and decreasing power life; (6) EXTREMELY sensitive to air movement, turn off the heat/AC while flying and don't event think about outside.

General Observations/Comments/Recommendations: (1) READ the warning this is for ages 12 and over, I'm 30 and find it challenging to fly and maintain - but that is why I like it; (2) buy as many repair kits as you can find from RS as they are 1/3 the cost of other retailers and you will need more rotors; (3) the version I just got seems to be an improvement from earlier versions sold at RS based upon online forums I've read - this one already has the more aggresive tail rotor and better center-gravity weighting; (4) don't buy this if you like a toy that never requires tinkering, this is like a hobby toy, it is fun to mess with it; (5) you can find lots of videos of this little guy on youtube before you buy it; (6) watchout for walls, once you hit one, give up - it gets sucked into a wall and can't get away; (7) there are knockoffs of this online, but the original Bladerunner by Interactive Toy Concepts sold by R.S. was great right out of the box and has lots of parts options, whereas the knockoffs do not. You can buy new circuit boards, motors, propellers, and rotors for this thing online - so far all I have needed is the main rotor kits.

Despite the Cons, I love this thing and give it a 5star rating. Enjoy!

Herds our 4 dachshunds effectively.Friend bought on my rec.His wife is mad at me but he & his 4 kids luv it.If they just wudnt fly it into the bathroom when she's in shower he'd hv no problem.IS VERY sensitive to HVAC air currents.Strange behavior close to walls. Strange tendency to fly into them.Do not mess w/ antenna. I purchased a cheaper micro helicopter and had a really hard time keepingit in the air. After numerous crashes and broken parts I purchased the Micro Mosquito. It flew perfectly out of the box. I did have a few crashes and broke the blades but was able to find replacements which were easy to install, and now I am an expert flyer. Its rather easy to control but does take some getting use to. Getting the trim right before each flight is key. The charge lasts about 7-8 minutes which is pretty long, and gives you plenty of flight time to have fun. I would go with this as a first Heli. Have Fun!

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This is a nice unit but there are others to be had at a much better price with more power, better blades, longer flight times and much more difficult to break. I have bought about 10 various mini choppers from different manufactures and also fly the bigger birds. I would rate this machine a good 8 out of 10 overall. it is very easy to fly out of the box and with some minor tuning, you can make it much quieter and add time to your flight. The great thing about this heli is that parts are readily available from your local radio shack and most stores keep them in stock although there are some who wont stock anything! Beware if you need replacement blades. Buy a set or two with your chopper, you will need them. [...]. You won't need blades if you have any coordination at all. It comes from china and you have to wait, but well worth it. I have three micros from radio shack that I am currently playing around with different kinds of mods to increase performance. I can now sneak up on my cat and get real close before he notices that something is coming for him.lol. Remember, hovering in one spot facing the same direction is key to maneuvering. Trim your heli until this can be achieved or un-repairable damage will occur. Add tiny amounts of weight to front or rear of heli until a still hover can be achieved.(usually the tail) A very tiny amount goes a long way. Try pieces of tape first. Hope I've helped but all this talk makes me want to fly one. Later......K-

This is a fun little toy. However, while your learing to fly this toy for the first time, you have to prepare for crashes. The blades are cheap plasitic and will break. The problem is, Radio shack never has these replacements in-stock. [...] I wouldn't have purchased this toy if I had known I couldn't get replacment parts. This is not a bad product. As complex as controled fleight is, this little machine does a good job. It takes great patience to master, though. I spent several flights just learning to hover. Of course it's flimsy... It needs to be incredibly light. The product should come with at least one spare set of blades. Be sure you can get plenty of replacement blades before purchasing the mosquito, though.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Out of the box the helicopter just spun in circles. The trim control was no help. I replaced the stock blades with the extras I purchased and it flew beautifully. Radio Shack does sell the replacement blades but they are as hard to get as the helicopter itself. Just my theory, but I think Radio Shack is waiting for the 30 day extended Christmas return policy to expire to get more in. Alot of first time flyers have crashed hard and need a new one. Minor crashes this thing can take. Hard crashes you will need to replace some parts. Fly low and away from everything until you learn. The chopper does fly slow in comparison to others but can get away from you. First timers expect to crash! Cannot recommend for young children, adults who aren't used to having fun or people with Parkinsons.

I live in colorado at ~5,000 ft above sea level and I cannot get enough lift to keep it above the floor. It will take off from a table, but then gradually sinks to the floor within 10-15 seconds. I checked the manufacturers web site and found an altitude chart that shows the operational envelope to be below than 4,000 ft above sea level. I read the review from the guy in Colorado Springs who says his works great at 6,500 ft... either his is an anomoly or mine is an anomoly. I love it when it is in the air and it seems to have great "fun" potential...but forward flight is impossible and hover is very short lived in my basement. My basement also has a radon mitigation system that keeps the basesment at a slightly negative pressure...which undoubtably makes the lift even less than normal. I'll have to try flying the Mosquito upstairs away from the negative presure created by the radon mitigation system or the fire place or the furnace or...maybe if i open all the windows - there is still hope!

I've bought three RC copters in the past 3 months. The first two were no-name-brand worthless items that self destructed as soon as you learned how to fly them. This one however flew beautifully right out of the box. For someone who's never done it before, flying this will take a little practice, but the 6-direction controls: unlike ANY OTHER RC COPTER make it really easy to learn. I mastered it on the first charge. The protective ring around the rotors makes this helicopter immune to minor crashes, and the build quality and design continue to amaze me. The green lights on the front look really cool too! The best [$]I've ever spent. Period.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I have read many of the reviews on this toy, and found them to be all over the place. It almost sounds like everyone purchased a different toy!! Those who did not like it, either have a short attention span, or DID get a defective product. Some say it is flimsy. I feel the product was made to be flexible therefore reducing the amount of damage that may occur during a crash, but at a casual glance it may appear flimsy. Mine has survived many crashes! (A willow tree that bends in the wind will survive better than than the strong oak that will snap) It IS difficult to learn to use and it does have adverse responses to AC gusts and transmission quirks. I suspect that the transmitter does occasionally fail or goes weak since the toy will sometimes go crazy on its own without any input or change on your part. I never thought I would enjoy a helicopter, but it was given to me as a gift. It is addictive because of the challenge trying to make it work smoothly. Bottom line, if you like a challenge and if you get one that doesn't have an obvious defect, it is a lot of fun.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This helicopter hovers very well if you continually adjust the trim. It will not go backward and if you try to go forward it will rotate uncontrollably. It is basically imposible to get this thing to consistently go where you want it. It does go up and down nicely, but for the price that gets old pretty quick. It is very flimsy and will break even when it is not crashed. There are no directions to speak of and you have to go to the manufacturers old site to find the directions that actually tell you how to fly this. For what it does you are better off buying one of the many much cheaper versions and just pitching it in the trash when you get tired with it.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

We bought two of the mosquito helicopters as Christmas presents for our twin 10-year-old boys. But we will be returning both of them for two reasons:

(1) Very fragile blades - both helicopters had damaged blades with less than 30 minutes of flying time each. And yes, we were being careful with them in a large indoor room. But unless you have a large padded room with absolutely no obstacles, you WILL damage your blades quickly. Sometimes you can repair them with scotch tape, but in one case the tiny metal axels that balance the blades came out of one and it is no longer flyable. I will be replacing both with new sets of blades and then returning them.

(2) The forward and backward flying controls are very difficult to master. I was never able to do it well, and my boys never even came close. So about the only thing we were ever able to do is fly them up and down - very boring. As soon as you try to fly the heli forward or backward, power is diverted from the main blades to the tail blades (to lift or lower the tail). But this power diversion disturbs the counter-rotational balance of the main blades, which is what is keeping the main body from spinning. As a result, the heli will always rotate at the same time you try to fly forwards. You have to try to counter this effect by steering it in the opposite direction while also trying to fly forward, which is difficult to do. All I could ever do was fly it small circles or in random directions as I tried to fight the rotational effect. Oh, and even if you do get it going forward, it is very slow.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I was always interested in RC helicopters, and this is a perfect entry into the hobby. Easy to fly if you play a lot of video games are are used to compensating for trim issues. Don't be persuaded by other reviews that say the thing is flimsy - this is not a plastic toy for 3 year olds and it will break if you abuse it! It is an RC indoor helicopter for older children and adults who have hand-eye coordination. That said, I have had some minor crashes and the heli is still working fine.
My only real complaint is that it is difficult to fly the heli forward and backward. The up-down control is very easy, and the heading of the helicopter is easy to control, but it is just not well suited to fly forward as easy. I am hoping it will get easier as I keep learning how to fly it.

Will not trim to neutral flight, not even close. As battery draws down trim gets worse. You must contantly correct for trim with stick, flying is not as fun as it could be. Battery won't recharge to full after 12 flights, now have <1 minute flights. One motor is already failing, it gets so hot after a single flight, you can't touch it. I have seen and controlled many expensive indoor AND outdoor helicopters. But I have never seen something this accurate - with such a low price! I guess it's just that it's simply designed. Simple thing work better in many ways. Also, this one has a lot of useful control surfaces like yaw. Yes, the yaw is a must for helicopters. Use up the battery all the way before recharging. We recieved 2 of these for our older boys for Christmas. After charging, the lasted 2 flights. We searched several radio shacks for replacement blades, sold out until after Christmas. So they sit waiting for stock to arrive.

Would not recommend for anyone whom does not have a padded room to fly them! One of rotors broke landing on the carpet!

I got this for Christmas and had a blast with it. Yesterday, December 28 I was flying in in my living room and I lost control and it crashed into the floor, the thin plastic of 2 of the rotor blades was ripped in half making the craft worthless. This is a very fun product, but for [$]I personally think it should be built strong enough to last more than 3 days. If my kids had this I doubt it would have lasted even 1

Ok, so I'm an older kid! I'm a commerical pilot who's always wanted an RC Copter and thought this would be a nice entry level start. It flies amazingly well. It is very stable and accurate in it's movement. It is easily upset by even the slightest breeze from a vent, etc., but that is to be expected in a micro gyro copter. Don't fly near the ceiling or walls and you'll be all set. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

To all those who rated this toy as a two star or lower, they must not be coordinated enough to use this toy. I have learned to fly the micro mosquito precisely in a matter of two days. Anyone can do it, you just have to be patient with it and be very easy with the controls, as little tiny adjustments make the helicopter move. Also, in reading the directions, all of the problems some of the other reviewers stated were under the caution section of the directions, i.e. stay away from ceilings and walls. Some times it is hard to stay away from ceilings and walls because of the vaccume the blades create, but if you take the time to read the tips on how to fly, you will be able to control the flight well enough to stay away from objects. Buy one, they are great fun!!!

It has a very stable hover with little drifting. I have used different chopper toys with less luck. I did break the rotors after about 15 crashes, but I fixed it with clear tape, and it flew once again. The LiPo batteries finally lost their charging capacity after about 30 or 40 flights. The battery will last much longer if it is allowed to cool before recharging. -Happy flying

Was lied to by the salesman. You cannot fly two Mosquito's at the same time as the salesman said. Also one would not control right. After a crash it took a few minutes of rest before it would run again. The other one that worked only ran okay for a few minutes then it could not fly very high about a few feet off the ground. Overall save your money.

This toy is seriously addicting. The rotors definitely get wear and tear - we managed to incapacitate one of them after about 3 hours of serious use, but that included an ill-advised trip out of the living room to the street in front of the house. The controls take a lot of practice to get the hang of, but that adds to the fun of playing with the copter. The rotors purportedly sell for [$] at [...] but were out of stock online. [$] Was definitely the highlight of this years Christmas presents. WE LOVED IT

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Well, I got mine after I saw that my other twin-rotor helicopter Reflex showed serious potential as an awesome mini model helicopter (the responses were sluggish due to a poor design), and decided to get this one because the design was much better. However, it seems that there is inconsistent reliability production of this helicopter, as I encountered what appeared to be a bad engine on mine. When full throttle was gradually applied, it spun madly out of control to the left, got about a centimeter off the ground, and crashed into a wall or other obstruction. However, on the other hand, the helicopters that do not suffer defects seem to be very fun and enjoyable, so my advice to others is do not be discouraged if your helicopter is a dud- just return it for another one, and you will probably see better results.

My son started with the Air Hogs helicopter which is more limited in its controls. Once we were comfortable flying it, we upgraded to the Micro Mesquito. An upgrade indeed! This one has the stability of the Air Hogs, but the control of an expensive, outdoor helo! Its had many crash landings and keeps going. If you do break a rotar, replacements are inexpensive. And this one has the option for an AC adapter! You can't beat it for some indoor fun.

The blades won't even turn or move at all. I have already shipped the second helicopter from Florida to Arizona to be opened as a Christmas gift and hope it works. I will be returning the first one and not purchasing another. Have already spent enough on these things. Would have given this product zero stars for rating if possible. Very dissapointing.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Stay in the open, don't go near ANYTHING! The down draft creates a vacuum between the mosquito and near by objects, which makes crashing a whole lot more likely. The rotors are very fragile. They are the only thing I have had to replace. The rotors have three basic problems, a) the fins themselves are a very thin and tear easily, b) the blades spin in opposite directions, and if it gets off balance, they flex into each other and tears its self apart, c) the fins are connected to a center piece by a rather ingenious set of pins that remind me of a U-joint, but the pins have a problem of popping out of place and getting lost in the event of a HARD landing: these can be scavenged out of broken blades so don't throw them away right away. Despite the few problems, it is extremely addicting and a whole lot of fun. be prepared to buy extra rotors.

I tried one of those Havoc Heli things. Garbage! This thing is great! Pricey (compared to the styrofoam choppers), but flies great. After some practice, very easy to fly and control--stable. Like everybody else has said, though, buy some extra wings. Those do break after awhile (2-3 dozen crashes), but I think the design of the helicopter puts a lot of the force of the crash on the wings no matter how you crash because the wings are cheap and easy to fix. And I noticed on [...]you can buy every single part for the Micro Mosquito cheap in case you ever have more serious breakage. Oh, yeah, charges quickly and lasts a long time. Buy the A/C adaptor and forget about those batteries!

Returned next day after spending 20 minutes trying to put the packaging back together.. Never write these reviews but sometimes rely on them which is why I hope this reaches someone that is contemplating the smart or stupid buy. This one unfortunately is stupid.. First, you always get what you pay for. I bought mine on sale [...], plus I bought the 9 volt 800 ML AC/DC adaptor (a must). I had flown RC airplanes so I understood the concept. Never take off on carpet. We used a coffee table or magazine on the floor. Get used to just getting it off the ground about 3 feet then back. When you do try to actually fly it, use just a small amount of forward and make gradual turns. We found the most fun was to get it into the air, then see who could land it back on the magazine in the shortest amount of time. Be patient and practice as mentioned earlier. An extra set of blades is a must, though after we got good we never really had any major mishappes. Good Luck.

This was a gift for me, not my children, and it is a blast. I let my 5 year old try it and the chopper crashed within a few seconds (not for the little ones). I have had many of r/c toys in my life and I must say this is one of the best. I mastered the flight controls in less than 4 flights and I usually destroy r/c planes. I tore up a storm launcher the same day I purchased it.

Just be patient, trim it properly, and have a clear flight space and you will enjoy. Once you figure it out you can fly it in confined spaces.

I was very excited about the mosquito, however from the beginning it has not worked well. I cannot get the mosquito to fly at any height above maybe 4" off the ground. The battery lasts for 10 minutes or more, but I cannot generate enough lift to fly around the room. It can only skim across the floor. I'm sadly going to return it and search for another indoor rc helicopter.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Its slow and stable, it will not handle any breeze even a small fan will cause it to spin out of control but it is fully functional in all directions. Its fragile though. The first one I got did not function, [...]I got a replacement, the second one worked flawlessly but after a few weeks one of the rotors stopped spinning, once again they replaced it with a third one. This time I am being very careful with it so not to damage the electronics. It wont take much abuse but it is so much fun to fly that it is now one of my pieces in my RC heli collection. I usually fly advanced 3D copters but this one fills a nitch. I can easily hover it around a small room and the glowing green eyes in front are very trick especially in the dark corners. It is also VERY quiet. I can fly it around the living room with out bothering any one watching TV. I can sneek up on the cat while she is sleeping. If this one has any problems I would still get another one. Very relaxing, slow and flights about 10-15 minutes. Very stable. So fun!

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Obviously, Interactive Toys put a lot of thought into this helicopter. For the most part, it is one of the most ingenuous toys I have ever seen. I originally bought it with my 7 year old boy (but actually for myself) but he has had a wonderful time flying it and it has been a great, fun, interactive learning experience for him. However, I have had to go back to the store twice to buy the replacement parts kit ($10.00 X 2) because no matter how careful we are, the heli has crashed more than I thought it would. I have had to replace the upper and lower rotor blades twice due to completely broken blades, so it's beginning to get to be an expensive investment. One reason for the crashes is that this heli, while well designed still seems to have problems with over rotation/oscillation even with careful trimming. I admit my big mistake was that I did not shut off the air at first and I did take my time at first really expirimenting with learing how to fly it properly. If you're reading this prior to buying it, my suggestion (as an experienced RC pilot) is that while well worth the price, please make sure you fly it in a room with as little furniture as possible and any AIR VENTS OFF (as the instructions say, the mosquito is VERY SENSITIVE to drafts and will get thrown out of control) two, read the instructions THOROUGHLY FIRST,take your time and have fun flying it but use the controller in small, incremental movements (up, down, left, right and ESPECIALLY BE EASY on the THROTTLE. This heli is extremely sensitive and will give you hours of enjoyment and fun, but relax with it!!!Also, I would suggest that if you're going to spend the [$] plus the cost of new 9v and C cell batteries on it, also throw in the extra [$] and buy the reapir kit just in case. It will save you the trip back to the store if, inevitably it seems, your Heli creashes and the rotor and/or blades break. Hopefully, Interactive Toys Co. will find a way to make the rotors/blade more durable.Overall, it's great. Enjoy it! I have !

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

A great technological marvel. I really enjoy the challenge of the precision required to fly this thing. It takes some practice, but very rewarding. Well worth the money. There are some VERY similar looking helos out there for half the price, but they do not have the all essential tail rotor used for precision forward and reverse control. Some tips I learned: 1.A small amount of WD-40 or a light sewing machine oil on a q-tip works well with the gears and main prop shaft (do not go near the motors with any oil) this will help with stability and enhance performance. 2.Think of the dual rotors as gyroscopes (they are). These gyroscopes keep this machine stable. They will oscillate if you overcontrol. If this happens, slowly release fore or aft control until stabilization recurs. 3.You can fly this outside ONLY if you observe absolutely no movement of the leaves in the tops of the tallest trees you can find. The best chance of this occuring are at dawn and dusk. Awesome.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This little RC helicopter blew all my expectations away, i have never flows a single RC copter in my life, and was able to successfully fly it right out of the box. It does not move forward and backwards particularly fast, but its probably for the better making it easier to control. It takes about 20 minutes to charge up, and flys for varying times of about 20-30 minutes. It is a very robust copter too, mine has survived on one set of blades through many crashes and bumps, flying into walls etc... i would still buy the spare rotors just for the "just in case" factor. It also has 2 green LED's on the front, not only do they look cool, but it adds some sense of direction onto which way the thing is pointing, just be warned though, the breeze from a ceiling fan or air duct can interfere with flight. Overall a great product for the price!

If you have never used an RC learn about trimming. This is very important. Then learn to hover. yes these are the directions but you have to learn each skill before you have a chance at the next. Buy extra propellers - you will tear up the ones you have. don't try it outside the slightest breeze will make your wings cross over and chew each other up. lots of learning time. i have several hours on mine and have only had one successful complete flight plan around the room. and back to the coffee table. it was a thrill. it was like an extention of my body moving out in the air. At first I wondered if it was controlable or maybe i got one that was broken but after lots of practice i am beginning to see how precise it is.

This micro helicopter is awesome!! It takes some time getting accustomed to the controls, but once you master them it is great fun. I can now take-off from my house main floor go up 12ft to the second floor and land with no problems. I do find it is very sensitive to any drafts, so it is definitely an indoor toy. I would also not recommend it for young children as it is very fragile. I find if you are in trouble just let go of the throttle stick in order not to strip the gears or damage the blades. I have had some ruff tumbles from the top of a table to a carpeted floor with no damage. I have spent many hours using a helicopter simulator and this was of great help to me. For the price you can't go wrong.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This is one of the coolest gizmos I've purchased in a long time. For the money you can't get much better.

Being a pilot, I know a lot about aerodynamics... but this bad boy takes some getting used to... so prepare yourself for some time consuming PRACTICE!

I crashed it about 25 times the fist day I bought it, immediately severing one of the blades... but a little scotch tape and I was back in the air.

One complaint... it does not go backwards very well. Forward motion is good but when given full backward pressure, it tends to just hover and move ever so slightly in a somewhat backward motion.

Nevertheless... a ton of fun to be had... especially if you have high ceilings!

But with the Mosquito you get so much more control! You can replace ANY piece on this little guy that breaks with the spare parts available all the way down too the internals. This new version of the Micro Mosquito is a bit better than the first releases. The new ones sport a LiPo battery and the use of metal in the rotor blades make them withstand a bit of "knocks". It takes a bit to learn to master its controls, but after that its great! Always get the replacement blade sets for the unexpected crashes. And charge it fully and learn to "trim" it out. Have fun!

I got this for my 12 year old as a birthday gift. He was very excited at first, but the blade broke on a landing that was not particularly "hard." fortunately, I had purchased a kit of replacement parts, so he was "back in the air" within minutes. The documentation is not very good so the next day, we went to Radio Shack for "flight lessons." Within a few minutes, my son was all smiles. He learned what to do, what not to do, and what to do when you've done something you shouldn't have. Now he is very happy with it. [...]My son has learned a great deal from playing with the micro mosquito today and I can see that this could be the start of a fun hobby.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I love helicopters, and flying toys in general. Each year my wife tries to get me a helicopter toy of some sort for either a birthday or the holidays. The mosquito is the first helicopter toy that has really been fun for me. The charge and flight times are excellent, the stability is incredible for its size, and its control layout is "relatively" easy to learn. Anyone with a little previous RC aircraft experience will be better off. Anyone who buys this toy for a child under the age of 10 who is not SERIOUSLY into taking care of flying toys is wasting their money. This also goes for adults that don't know how helicopters are controlled, and don't like to learn nice and slow. It is only going to give you a couple hard crashes before it is trash. Though it will give you quite a few "light" crashes without breakage.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I absolutely love the Micro Mosquito and actually have 2 now: one for home and one for work. I will state the bottom line up front: It is the best indoor toy RC helicopter that general users can buy. Now to explain that statement:
"Best" = I have used a number of toy helis such as the Reflex and Havoc Heli and the Mosquito outperforms them in every category to such a degree that there is no real comparison.
"Indoor" = It cannot be used outside. Ever. To achieve such amazing stability in such a small product requires it to be extremely sensitive to wind and drafts.
"Toy" = This is not a hobby-grade helicopter. RC heli enthusiasts use much more complex and powerful products. However, the learning curve, skill level and maneuverability of the Mosquito pushes it to the top of the "toy" category.
"General Users" = Meaning teens and adults. There is a significant learning curve and anyone without patience will break it and give up before they aquire the skill to appreciate the Mosquito. Don't even let small children look at it.
Conclusion: With skill and practice, the control and maneuverability is phenominal. You can fly it around an indoor obstacle course and land it on a saucer if you want. Charge time is short, batterly life is superb, stability is unmatched, control is near-perfect, durability is good, price is affordable, and the challenge level will keep it interesting for a long time. Great product!

Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Engaging, Portable
Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:
Entertainment, Older Children, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Working Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

The first thing to do before flying is put a short 2" piece of scotch tape on all the leading edges of the blades, this will help strengthen the blades for your first flights. Don't over control the heli short smooth throws are the key untill you get used to it. I found that heating the tail rotor with a blowdryer and applying slow pressure to increase the angle slightly will give you atleast forward control, I have a slight backwards. . I love mine, maybe I just got a good one. No problems in two weeks and my full charge last over ten minutes. If you weight the out side of the blades it will greatly stabilize your flight and counter rotation. Get a extra set of blades if available, after you become a acomplished pilot, use them to replace the scotched tape ones, best of luck.

Great Indoor Heli for Intermediate Users
By Joe D. from Nashville, TN, USA on 7/18/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Engaging, Portable
Best Uses:
Entertainment, Learning, Teens
Describe Yourself:
Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This is an fun little intermediate-skill helicopter for indoor users who have some experience with RC devices. It looks cool and has a sleek "gadget" design of metallic green and black. The neon green glowing "eyes" are a nice touch as well. It is relatively durable, in that it can take some rough landings without harm. However, this is not Fisher Price and it's not designed to be smashed and banged around by the kiddies. The rotor-guards are very helpful because they prevent it from immediately crashing if it flies against a wall or piece of furniture. It's small size is ideal for indoor use in smallish areas. This is good, because it cannot be flown outside at all (imagine flying a kleenex). Any air movement will disrupt its flight. In skilled hands, it is surprisingly agile and maneuverable. Reverse doesn't work, but if you know how to control it you don't need reverse (It has pinpoint 360 degree rotation - just turn around). Battery life is comparable or better than most any other RC plane/heli you will find. The charger takes 6 C batteries, which will fully recharge it many times. Overall, I highly recommend it for teens/adults with some experience. However, if you have never used one before, there are cheaper, more durable beginner models you should try first.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I've flown a little RC and I'd have to say that was a plus. This is a sophisticated design, but because of this, it will do many maneuvers that others are not capable of executing. Long flights and the appearance is impressive to onlookers. Definately an indoor piece, however. I tried outdoors and that's how I spoiled the rotors. For those interested in learning complex flying, this will entertain you for some time. Landing on soft chairs, beds, and relatively small spaces all possible with patience and practice. Very mobile with recharging station. I'm interested to see how long the motors and gears will last. Other than the rotors and gears, it appears to be pretty "bullet proof". Too sophisticated for young children to enjoy. Probably more in the category of "Boy Toy".... (smile).

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I got it for a gift and was excited to fly it. Even though it was supposed to come with enough of a charge to fly out of the box it didn't. I bought an adapter to save money on batteries, plugged it in and found it didn't work. I returned it and got a new one to find that while this one did fly, it did little more than spin in circles. The charge time was also far too short. A 15-minute charge resulted in only a minute or two of flight time before it started to wear down.
A complete waste of money. Good thing I was able to return it a second time.

If one wing on the propeller breaks, and you fly it again, the other propeller will break because it loses its stablization. [$]. I flew it only for 3 hours and now I have to wait 1 week to get new propellers. This is a good product. By it if you are prepared to crash it. Do not fly it in windy areas including around an indoor fan or air conditioner because it will blow away and propellers could hurt you.

Not worth the money

Cons:
Flimsy, Hard to control, Low Quality

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

My son received this as a gift. After two days, it is in the trash. The battery drained so quickly and the controls sensitivity were greatly affected by power, so the "feel" of the controls were constantly changing. The rotors got bent and broken quickly. Then the one of the motors stopped working. Forward and reverse were near impossible. The two LED lights were blinding when pointing at you.

It was fun for a day, but I'm glad it wasn't my money.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Great to fly, but takes a while to learn. Flying backwards is not possible and learning to fly it in various directions requires a trained, delicate hand. The mildest if wind-currents knocks it out of the sky, so make sure you have no draft, or even a ceiling fan on low! Poor quality, but I probably got unlucky-- The charger port and connector on the charger itself were so poor in quality I had to jimmy it so it would JUST BARELY get a charge. This resulted in the ports to finally give way. My product took various rough landings and still continued to work, however.

Good for adults, and kids with adult supervision / training.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Waste of Money. I received it for xmas. Like they say, not very sturdy. I could fly it pretty well, not near as good as they say it flys. Now it is junk, no power and won't charge. I would not buy another one. I have a radio control car that has lasted 2 years and still going, very tough compared to the helicopter.

For flyers interested in ...
By Ken T from San Jose Ca. on 6/24/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

For flyers interested in this helicopter, here are a few thing to note. This is a clean 3 channel design--2 channells conrol 1 blade ring each. These rotate in opposite directions and by differential control of the 2 motors, prevents ship rotation -up to a point - the third channel coorects this so you can control directuion. Back on the tail boom is an unusual small rotor which tilts the tail up or down thus allowing control of the forward or backward movement . Previous low cost helicopters left out this forwrd backward -third chanel of control. The ship is fairly robust if flown in a room with a good carpet. It will probably fall a number of times as you are learning and the rug protects the unit from damage. The design is such that the 2 blade rings are allowed to freely tilt and this is enough that if the ship is turned upside down the top blade ring can tilt without harming or twisting the center shaft. Flight time is at least 4-5 minutes or more. I like this helicopter because of it's clean design and stable performance.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This thing is fun to use but is a bit delicate. I crashed mine about a dozen times and the rotors are a mess. One of the blades on the bottom rotor is torn completely off...and the thing still flies??!! I've had mine for two days and the rotors are all scotch taped together. They seem overly delicate. Maybe RS should sell replacement rotors or ship a spare pair in the box?

By Larry G from Maryland on 6/9/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

The helicopter is relatively easy to learn to fly, but its biggest drawback is that it isn't very sturdy. The first hard landing caused a leg to snap off. Unfortunately this is not replaceable, but I got one of the stores to replace the unit. The second one lost a helicopter blade, but my 6 year-old was piloting when I wasn't around, so I'm not sure whether it was justifiable coptercide or not. Anyway, new rotors are on their way. The landing gear should have been made out of spring-like wire instead of breakable plastic.

I have bought electric ...
By Bill R from Florida on 5/22/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I have bought electric helicopters before that say they can be used indoors. Needless to say they needed quite a bit of area to fly. So Indoors was out. I bought this MicroMosquito on a whim figuring I have something to fly in the house. After seeing a big ole bulky three prop in a flight magazine. I personally think MicroMosquit is a blast. I have relatively small indoor area to fly this (on a rainy day) and it works great!! Does perfect landings after a few tries. I know I'll get used to it. It will slowley walk you around the house because it was designed for indoor use. It has to be slow otherwise you'll break the thing after a few crashes. After reading all the reviews, I think some people were looking for something to whip around the house with, and with helicopters that's not possible. Unless you want to break some of your stuff. I did break the tail blade after having it fall off a few times but put the spare on and haven had a problem since. I think I will consider buying the repair parts that RRADIO SHACK says thy have in stoc for this. The only downside is in my house I have to wait for the AC to shut off. It definitly does not like any kind of crosswinds. My reccommendation for someone who is looking for an indoor helicopter with full funcionality from the controls ought to think about this one. For the price, I would reccommend it to anyone interested in learning to fly RC Copters.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Picked one up in February. Worked great right out of the box. About a month and a half later, trim stopped working. Radio shack honored their return policy and I received a new one in the mail. To my surprise, it was version 2. Green-chrome on the prop-hubs and green pc-board looking sticker on the top of the unit with the new 'pico-z' type tail rotor. This one flew even better right out of the box. Seems to have more power and the lipo battery lasts much longer than the previous one, almost 14 minutes vs ~8 minutes. Better forward speed with the new tail prop. Heaps of fun and pretty easy to get good at it. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good indoor rc heli.

By Dan d from Campbell Ca. on 5/14/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This heli is a blast to fly. If you are good with your hands you can have controlled flight on your first charge. You get ~10 minutes fly time for 30 minutes charge. Forward motion is reletively slow, but I believe that allows one to control the chopper easier. The front mounted LED's allow for night time play as well. The heli doesn't care much for turbelence and can become a tad unstable. The tail rotor also likes to pop off on impacts now and again and can be troublesome to find.

By Ryan L from Valparaiso, Indiana on 5/11/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I have read many negative comments in regard to this product, However, I will be the first to day that overall one would not be disappointed with this product. If there are any negative attributes associated with this device, I would say that limited control range in regard to forward and reverse movement would be the only downfall of the unit. I discovered that problems associated with the device are due to a weak transmitter battery. Owners of this device have reported that at times it will develop a mind of its own. After several minutes of tinkering, I discovered that by replacing the transmitter battery much control was gained. The device does take patience to operate, and even if you are capable of hovering and slight controlled movements, the device provides great fun. If I were to make one suggestion reference to design, I believe that if the rear tail rotor was placed tilted slightly forward or aft, that an improvement in both forward and reverse flight would be enhanced. Understanding aerodynamic theory in regard to helicopter flight, will note that forward flight is achieved by the tilting of the main rotor unit. However, in regard to the toy, the main rotor unit is fixed, thus by tilting the tail rotor, forward or reverse flight should be maintained.

By Tim FVerified Reviewer from Newport News VA on 4/28/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Have been wanting one for long while. Saw them in stock and had to have it. First flight I was all over the place. Soft crashes couple times on carpet and broke rear rotor blade. Put on the extra blade and gave it another try. Got the hang of stabilizing it in after about 20 minutes of flight. That would be about 3 battery charges. The forward control is not much and backwards is almost not noticeable. It will go forward but is not very quickly or responsive. Takes some extra time, patience and control to really enjoy it. If you are not in a hurry to be a pilot, then you will get the hang of it. I would say this is not a toy for a youngster at all. If the rotor blade strikes a wall or something hard it will break. The unit fells very cheap and very breakable feeling. I have only broken the rear blade so far on day one. Charge times are about 30 minutes and give you about a 5-7 min flight. Not sure I am keeping it or not.

By M R from Seattle, WA on 4/13/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Looks cool and flying isn't too difficult, but the product itself is fairly cheap. I got one for my son and it broke the first day before he even had a chance to really play with it. Box insert says to contact manufacturer, but you'll be lucky if you actually get a live person. Radio Shack was great about taking the return however. If you really want a chopper, save up for a nice one. If you just want a fly-toy, go for the Dragonfly.

By Patrick s from Norton on 4/3/2007

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I got 2 and was really excited when I tried the first one and it took right off... then I tried to fly forward/backwards. Nothing happened b/c the tail rotor was dead. So I opened the second one and the tail rotor worked ... but it had almost no impact. These are super easy to hover with, the trimming gets old but is livable. The real problem is that the forward/reverse is a waste of time. I think they should put two intertwined tail rotors (two will offset the rotational forces) that face backwards to really give it some propulsion. I may actually try to hack mine up and see if I can get that to work myself.

tell you the truth i never buy these helicopters anymore because i have bought ones like the bladerunner and forward and backward aint workin. if you wanted you can move the motor backward by like a couple of inches with a lightweight supply like a straw but i dont know how that would affecct the performance. When i got the other version of this heli it worked horribly because it is so difficult to move forward and backward. personally i would buy a different one or save up for a really good one. that has a tail rotor that moves side to side but it might costs more. Either way happy flying

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I read all of the reviews and was super hesitant about buying the product, thinking that I might be one of the few that would be stuck with a gadget that would break when I opened the box. Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I've had this copter for 3 months and the battery will ot take enough of a charge to operate anymore. You cannot replace the battery either. It looks cool, but control other than up or down is difficult if not impossible. It is fairly durable though, taking many crashes. It takes me several minutes for mine to respond to control at all. Rear rotor might start working after a few minutes. Too expensive, should be no more than 50 bucks tops.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Very Stable flying Heli. I have flown a bunch of mini helis and this one is by far the best. There is although a bit of a problem with forward and backward flight. When you try to make it go forward or backward the heli just wants to correct itself so it only goes about a foot in either direction. I'm still trying to figure out how this could be corrected. It is worth the money....

By Wilson H from ATL on 1/18/2007

I didn't find this helicopter to be worth the money. It doesn't respond well at all to commands. Getting it to go up is easy, but getting it to go forward or backward is a mess, and you'll be lucky if you can get it to go in more than one direction for any flight attempt. For instance, trying to fly it from an open space through a doorway to another space is nearly impossible. I'd wait a couple of years for the company that produces it (InterActiveToy Concepts) to get the kinks out. I wish it worked the way it appeared, but I'm returning it because it doesn't.

This is great product and my first helicopter. With some small steps it can be learned to fly quickly(Learn to hover first). It flies very well with adequate control and is fairly crash worthy(very well designed). I repaired the damaged rotors, after many mishaps, rather than replace them. These repairs can be made using some common sense and a good adhesive. The replacement parts kit is well stocked but I have'nt needed it yet. A little silicone lube on the moving parts enhances performance and battery life. It flies best when NOT around heaters or moving air. Bottom line it is still fun to play with after Christmas.

Trimming it didn't help, still turning to the left even when trimmed all the way to the right. Didn't even get to play with it for an hour. Pros: Great Fun! Very Cool Easy to fly once accustomed Fairly long playing time Quick Charge (about 1/2 hour) Can take a good drop without a problem Cons: Poor Craftsmanship Trimming becomes a hastle Doesn't fly forward fast enough (can be adjusted to preference) Manufacturer is not consistent with product.

By Micheal s from Smith on 12/28/2006
Pros:
Good appearance

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

The Mosquito RC Helicopter is good for whats is it. In the right conditions is dose fly well, but those conditions are VERY limited. Flight over hard surfaces is almost a death wish. Wind speed plays a huge factor on it's stability. Even the slightest breeze will send it into a tail spin. Definitely not recommended for kids. The price is a bit steep. Given it's durability, it should be cheaper.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Great toy but not for children. Follow instructions, trim and balance, and you will enjoy. Have a gas helicopter for outdoors and this is great indoors. Don't try to fly outside as per instructions, too light. Get 7 to 10 min flight time and have flown 30 or 40 times. No broken parts yet and easy to fly for a helicopter.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Coolest toy on Earth!!! Just like any good video game, it takes some practice before you can really have fun with it, but after a few days and several hundred crashes you will be able to take off and land on any table top and make nice controlled figure 8s and lazy circles. Consistently landing on the charger/helipad is my Holy Grail and very challenging. Anyway, I would love to see modification accessories made available, like different color eyes and especially a larger tail rotor for faster forward flight, but altogether this thing is a great deal of fun.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

This is definately not a delicate toy that you are going to have to baby. I've crashed mine at least 50 times without any damage at all. Sometimes the gears come out of line but that's a quick. Also I needed to tweek the blades a little to stop over rotaion that couldn't be fixed with the trim knob. This thing is tons of fun and the only problem is short flight times. I'm getting about 3-4 minutes before it has trouble climbing and staying aloft. Overall great fun for a really good price.

Excellent product. It does take crashes very well.(So far)Flies about 5 to 7 or so minutes a charge. After a couple of days, you'll be flying like an ace. It's very stable and doesn't need a huge room at all.I've been looking for an inexpensive little helecopter just like this. I've owned a large r/c copter before and had to be very careful with it because of the cost of a crash. You don't have to very with this one.I bought the repair kit that is offered with it. If blades break, just replace them. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Well, I have to say that I am really impressed with the Micro Mosquito. I am not an expert with radio controlled airplanes and helicopters even though Im a pilot, but I have to say that this little helicopter is very easy to fly and it can hold some pretty bad landings and crashes (so farlol). This micro-mosquito is pretty good and it has not given me any problem. One thing I have to tell yll is that this helicopter is very delicate and therefore you have to treat it with respect and care. I still dont understand why mine is it still flying when it has crashed a lot of times and nothing happens to it, but when you touch the helicopter it seems that it will break off right away, so.Im just saying that it should be treated carefully. Overall, I like a lot and I think it is a great gift for everyone.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Great fun when it works. I'm on my 4th one. First one the forward/reverse motor didnt work. Exchanged it, that one worked great for about 2 weeks, then it got a mind of it's own. Couldn't trim so it wouldn't rotate, (would just change directions)Motors would stop in flight sometimes, others would only hover 4" off the ground, suddenly jump to the ceiling. I exchanged that one...replacement one had a defective transmitter that wouldn't activate. I exchanged that one last night, so far this one is working.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

AWESOME toy!!! So glad I purchased this! I've always been into aircraft, and used to spend a lot of time playing Flight Simulator games, so this is perfect for me. A few words of caution: This is really for adults (and perhaps teens) only. Helicopters are inherently difficult to fly, and while this one has lots of stability, it's still a challenge, but that's why it's fun! READ the directions carefully! It will solve a lot of the problems discussed here. Things like pushing the throttle all the way forward then releasing when you first start, to calibrate the control, are critical. Also make sure the little gears are properly meshed before each use. Make SMALL, gradual stick movements, especially the forward and reverse. Do those things, and you'll have loads of fun.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I have been trying for years to find something to fly in my living room, and after several years of stripped gears, broken rotors, marred walls, this pre-fab nanocopter actually works! The thing is actually controllable in a 3 m x 3 m space, has some positive stability, and has survived minor impacts with furniture, cat, etc. Flies about 5-6 mins / charge. It is probably a challenge for most inexperienced flyers, but definately easier to control than the other 3 helicopters I have tried (ECO 8, e-LMH, and Ikarus Piccolo). Definitely a good value. I had no interference or loss of control due to equipment failure with this particular unit.

By Admiral R from California on 11/5/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good appearance

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

The micro mosquito is one of the coolest toy concepts I've seen, but it has some flaws. A friend of mine and I bought 2 of them around the same time. His rotates so dramatically between low and high throttle that even full trim and stick can't compensate in both directions. He also has issues with incredibly short transmitter range, not being able to fly it even half way across his small living room. Mine takes a while from power up to even respond, even after speed controller initialization. Even after the first response, it takes a few minutes before it responds fully to the controls; until then, it will obey 1 in 5 commands, either sticking full throttle or settling on half-throttle. However, once it starts responding, it's a fun little toy to fly. It will fly upwards of 10 minutes between charges and responds well to controller input without being too twitchy for the beginner pilot. If it would respond to the controller on start up, I'd easily give this little gem a 5, but the one I purchased is definitely a 3.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Still tweaking mine, but so far seems to be very tough... Flying time seems to be about 5-7 minutes on a charge as advertised- the first 3 minutes or so being the best. Hovers great- forward and reverse control is moderate- Can't seem to make it move forward very quickly, and I've attached all the available weight to the nose as suggested in the instructions. Flight performance does seem to be improving with use. Overall- I'm very happy with it.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Looks awesome with the Led lights. Flies STABLE, despite what those other guys said. Goes forward and backwards thanks to a tail rotor parallel with the surface so when it turns one way it lifts the tail or the other way lowers the tail causing the helicopter to picth forward or backward and go forward or backward. For the price, this is an excellent product. Some people crash them into the ceiling repeatedly and then complain when the shaft breaks. Don't crash your car and then complain when the dealer can't help you.

The first one flew well for a week. Just as I was starting to get it under control, the rotor shaft broke. Neither Radio Shack nor the maker stock shafts, so for lack of a $10 part I'm out a copter. Got a second one, but it binds up and doesn't fly, so I returned it. None of the local stores have any more. Pity. If Radio Shack had decent spare parts I'd probably be happy with it. Pros:
Good appearance, Good Value

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Great concept, cool design, hours of entertainment. Nearly indestructable. Fell from a vaulted ceiling to the floor with no damage. The rotor drives are powerful for their diminutive size. However the Micro Mosquito is not stable enough to fly through doorways reliably. They are subject to interference from CB radios. The gear drives can stall in-flight from the spur (large) gear is even slightly misaligned from the pinion (small) gear. My biggest complaint though is the lack of multiple frequencies. I want to see 4-6 of these in the air at once, dogfighting, racing, or battling in the office. I love this toy nonetheless, and can't wait to see what it evolves to.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

I test flew this at the radio shack were I live. I had it in a nice stable hover in the first 2 min. the only thing I would say is in need of change is the forward and back control is slow. Which is good if this is the first time you have flown a helicopter. It is well worth the money. Hours of fun with this little guy. Almost indistructable too.

It is fun to fly, but the tail motor on mine doesn't spin at all. So it's only 2 channel for me. If the tail motor worked, it would be a 5. But I really don't have much control over it without being able to move forwards. or backwards.

The Micro Mosquito is a good helicopter for the money. It takes some time to get the hang of it, but once your up and flying it becomes alot of fun. Nice size for flying in the house, I have flown the Picco Z micro helicopter and the mosquito is just as fun.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Trim, trim, trim. Easy to take off and land, the problem is stopping it from spinning. I've tried to adjust the trim but it's never enough. I bought this to hack to it's not a lose for me.

what a dissapointment. switch broke after 3 days. never flew like it should. I got so tired of trying to make it work that I ultimately crushed it beneath my feat- saved the batteries. GARBAGE.

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

Ok, but not really worth it. Difficult to control. Even after adding weight to front still barley moves forward. Needs CONSTANT trimming. Tends to start ocillating or swinging like a pendulum when it does move forward(maybe stronger rotor springs?), and becomes unstable. Great idea, and I wanted to love it, but falls short. Maybe better weight distribution, stronger tail motor(to move forward), longer battery life(5-8 minutes flight, tops). I hope there is a version 2.

I am really enjoying this little machine, it is loads of fun. Only issues I had was tweaking it to stop it from spinning clockwise, and continually adjusting the trim. I also had to add weight to adjust the centre of gravity, so I could get forward speed. ( All this is explained in the manual - so you have all the resources at your disposal to tweak the flight of the heli ) Once those are sorted out, you will have hours of enjoyment, I am addicted!

BY FAR the coolest R/C product I have ever owned. Crashed it, didn't break, easy to fly, fun to play with. Green LED's for the eyes are very cool. This is going to be hot for x-mas. 2 thumbs up! Saw it on Digg last night, bought it today, been playing with it all day!

By Miller c from Houston on 9/22/2006
Pros:
Good appearance

Comments about RadioShack Indoor Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter:

PROs: good quality and great design by it's creator "Petter". Very durable if handled properly. Conns: Not a kid's toy. Requires CONSTANT management of trim to keep it on any kind of heading, as it seems to have no gyroscopic features. Flight times average 5 min. and charging base seldom shows green when fully charged. Again, great concept from a brilliant designer, but perhaps not ready for prime time.
