At first I bought Radio Shack's 3-Channel FM intercom system but hated the static and buzzing noises every time we talked on it. So, I took it back and exchanged it for 2 of these systems. I am so glad that this system not only works but it is so quiet. No buzzing or static whatsoever. I did have to exchange one of the systems because one of the units was not working. But after that, everything runs smoothly. It is so nice not to have to shout when I call or talk to my kids. Plus, I don't have to walk back and forth, up and down because I could not hear my kids. I should have gotten these a long time ago, but I didn't realize that Radio Shack even carries intercom systems. Thanks Radio Shack for a great product. Oh, my only complaint is that each unit cannot be set to a specific channel but they are all still able to talk to each other. If this can be done, one unit can then call another unit privately. Without this function, I can only give this system a 4-star.

By John W from Cleveland, Ohio on 5/20/2007

Bought these to monitor a vacant rental property next door after a break in. They're great. Sensitive, they automatically lower and quiet background noise, and they have good reception. I've previously only used telephone line based intercoms as most "FM, through the house wiring" ones are terrible. These are really quite nice, with just the occassional pop here and there. And of course, the guy said they are now discontinuing them. Niiiice. Headed back to buy another set. :)

By David B from Beach Haven, New Jersey on 4/30/2007

This is a good product. The only negative is that battery life is not long enough. Although it has remote access using battery, it really needs electrical power to use the monitor mode. The batteries only last about three weeks in monitor mode otherwise you must turn the unit off and on to get any longer battery use. It needs a sleep mode to conserve power. But, I would buy the product again.

Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

Our intercom has performed well for almost a year. One unit is locked in "transmit" to monitor my wife's room when I am not nearby. Tremendous sensitivity - picks up a pin drop or a whisper! No interference, hum, hiss or noise. Great clarity. We're very pleased.

Pros:
Durable, Good sound quality, Good Value

My wife and I have a 35 year-old, multipli-handicapped daughter (CP and severe retardation) who is either in a wheelchair or scooting around on hands and knees. We read the reviews prviously posted, then purchased 4 units (2 sets) for our 3-level 19th-C home. EXCELLENT CHOICE! The units are locked to a single frequency. Sound quality is clear as a bell. Our daughter has no difficulty operating the one in her bedroom. Would like to see a larger TRANSMIT button to facilitate use by the physically handicapped.

WOW!! I was beginning to think that intercoms were useless in my home. I tried everthing, even Radio Shacks Advanced 3 station/3 channel FM wireless intercoms & nothing worked. I returned the 3 station & the Sales Manager sugested I give them one more chance. He suggested this one & I can not thank him enough. This unit is perfect in so many ways. It is truly wireless w/option to use power cord, it's clear, it's expandable & it works!!!!

By Ted D from Birmingham, AL on 12/17/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

Great product. We are using it for a interesting application. Our church does not have a sound system, so to broadcast audio over the internet, I bought this system and disabled one of the speakers and attached a mono jack to the speaker wires to plug into a laptop on one end of the church and placed the other at the lectern in the front with it locked in transmit. So far so good. We do get a bit of white noise over the reciever end, but we are looking into getting a sound system hooked up and then plug it into the rca adapter to cut that down. Would be nice to have an output jack on it so you don't have to cut wires.

Finally a product that really works. The sound quality and the range is unbelievable. It almost sounds like the person is in the room with you. There is absolutely no static or any other background noise. Not sure about the battery life yet. This is truly an amazing product and I would highly recommend these to anyone.

By Amy EVerified Reviewer from Colleyville, Texas on 10/29/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

I'm using this system as a child monitor and am so excited that I can actually hear my son without tons of static! My home is about 125 feet long with his bedroom at one end of the house and mine at the other with a brick wall between the two. This system gives clear reception from one end to the other -- even through that big brick wall! I've tried at least 14 different models of baby monitors and none has worked without at least a little static -- some didn't work at all! I can now get some sleep without listening to that awful static all night long wondering if I heard my son or if it was just static! I am going to buy more units to place in other rooms in the house! I wish the set had been a bit cheaper, but would have glady paid double knowing how well it works!

No more yelling through the house. The installation in our townhouse could not be a more extreme test of a wireless product in a residential setting. The first unit is on the top of three floors and the second is in my basement office surrounded by 3 computers, two monitors, router, firewall, and multiple power strips. Crystal clear - you could not ask for more at this price.

When we close the doors to contain the Air Conditioned air we can't get a signal from about a 60 foot distance. When we open the doors we get a weaker signal but it lets the air out.

Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

I can't tell you the pure joy I now experience! The yelling for every little thing just made me grumpy and I couldn't take it any longer. Now even my 5 year old is using these all over the house" Dad, do you copy?" "Over and out". Perfect sound, zero static with the ease of AC or battery operation. I highly recommend these if you can't take THE SHOUTING!. I have 4 total but have yet to figure out sub-levels but I'll get there. Even the AC cord is the thin kind and the wall adapter is a fairly discreet size. Very good product... and just in time. Love them for the peace they have given us all. Go get some!

we have 6 of these throughout the house ... almost one in every room. They are great to use instead of shouting for a 10 year old to come downstairs.

By John C from Jupiter, FL on 6/10/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

We purchased this intercom to use as a room monitor for our elderly mom. It replaced a different model Radio Shack room monitor that we had for several years, but that was too static-prone to allow us to sleep well. We found the customer reviews VERY helpful in deciding on this product, as we did not want to make another mistake. This product is absolutely silent -- no perceptible static at all. It is quite sensitive though, providing us with complete peace of mind that we will hear mom if she calls out in the middle of the night. We find this product perfect for our needs, and would recommend it very highly, both as a room-monitor and as an intercom. We also thank Radio Shack for publishing frank and honest user feedback, even when it may tend to steer potential customers away from a particular product. This helped give us the confidence to try another Radio Shack product, and it worked out perfectly.

I have four of these units and love them! I have one in the garage, dining room, parent's room, and daughter's bedroom. My daughter has physical disabilities and does not get around very well. We have used this system so that she can contact me wherever I may be in the house. Great audibility! Great ease of use! Bravo!

We love our intercom system. It's simple to set up, just plug it in!!! It's that simple. The kids love it and there is no more hollering up and down the stairs. I actually bought 4 of them.

By Bill K from Quantico, VA on 2/1/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

We tried the 43-3105 intercoms, which are a good concept, however the execution was flawed. Units developed a loud repetitive popping sound after a short time. We returned them for the more expensive 43-3102(these) 900 mghz models. We miss having the ability to easily select the channels, but the inconvenience is outweighed by the fact that they actually work (and work well). What would make them perfect would be to have external station controls, where each station could have it's own code so that communications were not heard house-wide (we have 6 units on 3 floors).

Pros:

I have 2 sets on the same channel so the whole house is covered - works great, even little kids can operate them. I installed the rechargable batteries in 2 of them so we can move them around or take one outside.

By Eleanor . from Boston, MA on 12/14/2005
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

I purchased this a year ago and put one on the second floor and one in the basement. The sound quality is great. There is no setup really, just pick a channel and plug them into the outlet, you don't need batteries. I'm getting one more package of two to put one on the first floor and one in the other side of the newly remodeled basement. It is expensive for a two unit system. But, I haven't found any other systems that aren't junk or some complicated mess of wiring requirements.

Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

Although a bit pricey, this intercom has worked very well. It is simple to use and the sound quality is first-rate. I have one unit inside my house and the other in an un-heated shed about 100' away. It works well in all climate conditions and the sound output can be adjusted to very high volumes as needed. It is a good unit. It could be a great unit if the price was about $20 less.

Tried other intercoms but found this one works well in my home. Good range and clear sound quality with no interference.
