These intercoms are fairly good. One problem is that when they are about a foot apart, they buzz bad. This can be fixed by flipping the channel switch between A and B a few times. I've read the reviews a few times and have noticed that the above buzz problem has been a thing for lots of people and my guess is they have an electrical spike problem. I use these to communicate with a friend up the street (about a mile between our houses), and they work fairly well (I'm surprised cuz they didn't really work between romms at my place). Anyhow, this set is worth the dough.
Easy to use; very effective for my needs. Not expensive.
This is a good intercom. There is a problem-- if you leave it on lock for 30 mins +, then it makes a horrible buzz and you cant hear anything. This can be fixed by flipping the channel changer from a to b about 5 times and turning it off for about 5 mins. Overall, I think they are worth the money.
Received as gift. Loud buzz makes it annoying (Maybe my compact fluorescent lights) Fatal interference with my X10 remote system, as they both use the same "through the house wiring" technology. People with X10 systems need intercoms using radio frequencies. In a word: Obsolete.
I have one in the house and the other in my garage about 150' away and have had no problems...for the money you can't complain.
works but very bad sound. Sad to say junk don't waste your money
this unit works fine if you know what you're doing. building has to be grounded, no cut off ground prongs.no flour. lights on the same circuit. only, i need to buy a third, cant find it.
I received this unit today. From the time I first plugged it in, you could get little more than static. Even when you could hear a voice, it was overshadowed with a terrible buzz that you can't get rid of. I tried many different outlets...it does turn on the touch lamps & blew a circuit breaker when near a computer.
Save your money and don't buy this intercom. It does work. I tried it in several rooms of my house and got nothing but loud buzzing interference no matter where I tried and on both channels.
me and my company got these a while ago we have 3 stories to our building and were looking for a cheap way to comunicate throught the office so we at first bought 2 sets then we loved them so much we got one for each room. we love the seperate channels. i liked them so much i even put them in my home
Works great the majority of the time. Once a week or so one or more units will start making a loud buzz and have to be turned off for a few minutes. Probably caused by an electrical spike or something, so those folks who have a lot of problems with theirs might have more electrical fluctuations than my house. They also cause our touch-to-turn-on lamps to come on sometimes, but that's not a big deal. They do what we wanted - enable kitchen-to-bedroom communication without yelling.
Tried using these units in the house and everytime I pressed the button to talk my husband couldn't hear me talk,it did however turned on my 2 touch lamps that I have in the house.
bought these units approx 3 months ago to monitor my daughters room which is downstairs. The noise and static made it almost impossible to sleep. We probably actually only used it maybe 4 or 5 times and the other night I plugged the upstairs unit up to monitor her room and it was dead as a doornail with absolutley no sound. Not worth the money you will spend nor the aggravation of listening to the static. I think a cheap baby monitor would have probably done a better job and for a cheaper price. Buyer beware.
I purchased this intercom to talk back and forth to my house and the shop and to also listen to my daughter's room while I'm out in the shop' so I'll know she's alright. But can't hear anything but static and buzzing sounds, taking it back tommorrow.
Ever since I bought these units they have performed erratically. Used to be once every six weeks, now EVERY WEEK, I have to take one of the units to the other unit and press talk since they will not communicate any distance apart. I can then seperate them for a fairly good distance and they work fine again. This is becoming a pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My 3 1/2 year old's bedroom is in the rear of our small home, out of hearing reach of my voice without one of us making long trips up and down our steep flight of stairs to have even the simplest of conversations. I just bought this intercom out of desperation, and am thrilled with it. My son can play in his room now and still communicate with me without waking his baby sisters, and without coming all the way downstairs. We do hear a slight buzz when we're pushing the "talk" button, but in no way does it interfere with communication. I would highly recommend this, and would encourage parents to buy this instead of a baby monitor, since it can act as both, and grow with the child and family.

After using off and on for six months without problems I now have to place the units beside themselves and initiate talk to get them to work apart again. This SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY!!
My garage was broken into 2 nights in a row so I purchased this unit to monitor the area. The static from the unit in the house was so bad we couldn't sleep. Purchased the Reporter wireless alert instead. Much better!
We purchased this intercom a little over a year ago and are very pleased with it. Yes, the sound is somewhat tinny but gets the message across. We use it in our family room in the basement to the second floor and do not have a problem with reception. Overall a good product for the money.
Intercom lasted 5 years, even outdoors; my newer model is extremely poor quality in comparison. A fan of RS for decades, this is the first problem I have encountered with one of their products.
Using in home for sick parent and it works good. Sound quality could be better but for $40.00 what can you expect, it's FM.
In my home application this unit would not communicate clearly from our basement to our second floor. Only 18 feet away. Signal to noise ratio was very poor and unacceptable. First floor to second floor was much better and had an acceptable signal to noise ratio.
