These are relatively average when left stock; basic tweeter, basic woofer, relatively thin cabinet construction (3/8"), cardboard port, bare insides. The crossover is a single 1uF cap on the tweeter and the woofer runs full range. This means that the woofer is pretty much responsible for 16kHz on down and is the reason they kind of sound like they're under water.I followed some recommendations on the [...] forums and ended up buying 3.3uF Dayton polypropylene capacitors for the tweeters and 0.20mH Jantzen inductor coils for the low-pass on the woofers for a crossover of around 6000hz. I also added some poly-fill batting to the walls of the cabinet and stuck on some small rubber feet. For the price I paid for everything all inclusive, these speakers simply cannot be beat. They walk all over the Pioneer S-HF21-LR speakers I have and the Sony bookshelves in the same price range. As others have said, the imaging on these speakers is very good for the price. Really excellent for rear surrounds, and even pretty good for a simple stereo pair, especially if you have a sub. If you're reasonably handy and need a cheap pair of speakers, these are your ticket! Radio Shack needs more items like these!...the grilles do look cheap, though. Much better with them off!

I use these speakers in my den along with an A/V switch and a Sonic Impact T-amp to play my tv, dvd player, and computer. They work great for background music while computing and have great mid-range sound.

I like the fact that these speakers are relatively smooth across the frequency range, with no shrill treble or muddy bass (of course my little amp is great on frequency response and brings out the best in these). They make for pleasant listening, if not an audiophile experience.

The only disadvantage I've found with these speakers is that they don't reach far into the bass. If you're a rock music fan or a fan of classical organ music, please use a sub for the best experience. Other than that, they make great bedroom speakers, or satellite speakers for a home theater (be careful with this....they're rated for 50 watts...100 watts max).

These little buggers kick butt. I bought them for my old receiver because I was wanting to transfer some LP'S to CD'S, man was I suprised. They really sound good for the price, not earth shaking or audiophile by any means but they still get the job done rather nicely. I am going back for a second pair. GOOD JOB RADIO SHACK

I found these speakers for a great price, not expecting much back. I have them now hooked up to a 100 watt power amp that I play both Guitar and Bass guitar with and I can say that I have no problems with them. They have not yet bottomed out, even when they were fed 150 watt surges from my Bass. Their volume isn't floor shaking, but very loud, heard more than felt. I was surprised to see the paper - like cones do so well. For Music, they put out excellent Mid ranges, and ok Bass. At high volumes, the tweeter forces some clear highs, not too harsh. I ended up putting some poly-stuf inside the enclosures to prevent the slightly echoed mid-ranges received at very high musical volumes. They are kind of bulky, better to be left set in one place, instead of often being moved around. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants sound that provides.

you know alot of people say that it isnt worth it to spend the money. but ive tried these, along with all the other klh, and sony brands radioshack offers. out of all of them these are the worst. they are cheep paper composite, and such thick wood for the power they draw.
you would have to buy three sets of these to match any off the other yamaha or sony sets.
they bottom out on bass, and crackle on the tweets.
great for a 2watt amp?

OK, so what did I expect for [$]? Exactly what I got. These speaker cabinets are made from half inch particle board so they aren't very substantial and the set I have doesn't seem to have any damping material in the cabinet. That said, for [$] these are a good deal. The sound is much better than the plastic cabinet crappo boxes you see[...]. The LF driver is surface mounted (not a huge deal, again these are [$] speakers). If you want a small set of speakers for the den, garage, bedroom, or surround these can't be beat. Just don't expect a silk purse at sow's ear pricing.

I was going to buy just a roll of speaker wire when I saw the sale price on these...Figured you can't go wrong for [$]. Replaced the small original equipment front speakers in an inexpensive KLH home theater system. They're great, will probably get two more for the rear speakers.

Picked up 3 pairs just to hear them for myself. Used them on 6.1 set up. Good mid-bass, weak highs. First thing I did before hooking them up was to apply a layer of poly fill to the insides of each box. Never listened to them "out of the box." Good basic speakers. Ideal use for rear or center. Sounds great with sub and good front stage. Was a good test. "Get them while you can!"

All the other "5" reviews say it all. You cannot go wrong, particularly at the recent sale price ;-) I'm using mine as front surrounds and they sound excellent and are well shielded to protect from interference. Don't wait and "go for it" before they are gone.

Hi I just wanna tell everyone how great these speakers are. If your looking for something maybe for a small system or maybe like I use them I have a Hitachi head unit hooked up to my computer. The sound quality is excellent in a small room and sounds pretty good in a bigger room too. The bass is great. They don't look all that fancy but they were only [$]and its the sound that counts.

I bought these speakers thinking that they would have bad bass bad treble and would sound horrible. I was wrong these speakers are great they are small but have very clear bass and the tweeters are very good too. They are really good for a starter home theater or like me I have them hooked up to my Hitachi head unit thats connected to my computer. I highly recommed these speakers to anyone who looking for a good pair of speakers but doesn't want to spend to much money I love them so much I am going to buy another pair [...].

For the price nothing better presidian really pulled it off!

I paid [$] for a pair of presidian speaker. My original intention was to use these speakers as my rear surround sound speakers in my living room , but after listening to the good quality sound coming out of these little units; I moved them to the left and right front speakers position where they are a good complement to my subwoofer. Bass doesn't go very low (65hz) but the overall performance at the speakers' 50w RMS output is very good providing that you don't max out the volume on your receiver. quality-price ratio is excellent. highly recommended for receivers in the 60w-120w output per channel. Best used as satellite speakers, or center speaker on the above mentioned receivers. They can also be used as the main speakers on low output receivers 50w-60w max.

If you're still in the Stereo age and you don't need a lot of volume these are great. At low-mid volume they have a great sound. If you're not a stereo freak and you need something cheap and compact, there are a lot of 2.1 systems that will sound much better.

After opening the box for these speakers, I was pleasantly surprised at the look and weight. Overall sound quality cannot be rivaled at this price, I have been testing home theater speakers since the early 90's when Pro-Logic was the big thing, well in today's age of Digital media,to find a set of speakers with a 6-1/2" woofer with this frequency rage, at this price is next to impossible, I have listened to many "under $50" small bookshelves and these are the best for a tight budget and a small room if a home theater is being used-Kudos to Presidian

I rated this speaker set all 5's because for the price they are simply amazing! I have them hooked up to a Yamaha CR-840 and they sound very full & balanced. They don't quite sound like the $1000.00 pair of Paradigm speakers I have on my main system, but for < $40.00 / pr I cannot find any speakers that even come close! Great job Presidian!
