Got this MP3 for fathers day and it quit working two days after I got it. I assume the battery was defective. Returned it to a [...] and they replaced it. Had the second one for about 11/2 months and it did the same thing. Plug it into USB port on my computer and battery indicates that it is charging and when it is charged unplugged it and when I tried to turn it on, it comes on and shuts off right away. [...]

Trashy. My friend ...
By Stephen RVerified Reviewer from Baton Rouge, LA on 5/29/2007

Trashy. My friend recomended this but he had no idea what he was getting into himself. Its not durable at all (he dropped his once and the screen went out for good) and the sound isnt all that great either. The battery life (even with the digital plus) is terribly short. This is not worth even the sale prices. My advice is just wait and save up for an iPod if you need an MP3 player bad enough. DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS.

By Steph D from MN on 5/26/2007

I have enjoyed this MP3 since Christmas, but lately I have encountered problems adding music to it and I've only used 1 GB. It will not even show up as a removeable drive on my computer. I'm not sure what to do about this, but I'm not at all pleased with it.

By Adam M from Clare, MI on 5/25/2007

It was fine at first, but after about two weeks it stopped working right. It just kept telling me to re-format it, so I did. I put more songs on it again and it just said to re-format it again! It was a big waste of money.

By Janet F from San Diego, CA on 5/20/2007

This was a complete waste of money. It won't even play the songs I put on it anymore. Seeing as many bad reviews about this having the same problems this thing is having, maybe you should think of fixing it?

By Amber G from PA on 5/17/2007

This was okay when I first bought it, but after a few weeks it wouldn't let me add songs to it. I would plug it into my computer and i would open the player file and it would say "no files" and i'm not able to sync song with windows media player. This is a waste of money, i'm gettinga new one soon.

This is my second one ...
By Adrienne W from Florence, SC on 5/15/2007

This is my second one because the screen frozed up and I could not fix it. But the sound quality for what it is worth is good especially since I use it at work. The stations depending on how strong the frequenices are come in clear and the sound is very close to the sound from downloaded music. Its pretty good but could be better for the price. My second one is working good so far, but hey that's what you have warranties for :o)

My biggest complaint is ...
By Annie K from Arizona on 4/19/2007

My biggest complaint is that if you are using it outdoors when it is sunny, you can't read the menu. Even trying to shade it wasn't any good. Also the buttons don't seem to respond well. They are sometimes too sensitive or not sensitive enough. It hasn't been a real problem until I started to listen to books and would have to hold down the button to find where I had left off. Other than that it has been great. However, yesterday it stopped working. It plays for about a minute and then turns off. Not sure if it is because my kids lost the cap to the USB. So I hate to say that it is the device and not the user. I have only had it since Christmas.

By walter c from CA on 4/18/2007

Strengths: Light weight, clear FM radio, WMA, DRM Weaknesses: volume Button is hard to press down with not enough tactile response. Summary: battery life is great I listen all day during work, I think this is a good deal, and would say this product is worth up to $150,

By brad h from austin on 4/16/2007

In the past I have not been impressed with radio shacks flash based players. This player, however, has changed my opinion of your MP3 players. Even though there are a few things lacking, mymusix has a great user experience with an overall solid design and a simple user interface.

By Mark S from W Hartland, Ct on 1/9/2007
Pros:
Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

I like it. Small just bigger then a bic lighter, lightweight. Sounds great with good headphones. Fast transfer ofr files from the computer to the unit. It does take a minute to load the library when you first turn it on but not too bad. The only drawback if I can't get it to play songs in the order they are arranged on the original CD, normally not a problem but for artist like Pink Floyd or Hawkwind it doesn't work. It plays then in alphabetical order! Other than that awsome!

By Sachia P from Starkville, Miss on 1/4/2007
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

I asked for a pink Ipod Nano, but my husband got me this instead. He said the guy at Radio Shack recommended it instead. At first I was little upset, but then I downlaoded music and played around with it and realized it was just as good.(somewhat better) I am a college student and it has some great features I can use. Very easy to download songs. I can store files for class presentations, record important info, and even catch some regular radio. Nice product. Now I just need a different way to carry it, rather than around my neck.

By Jonathan H from Washington on 12/26/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

Not too bad. It's pretty good for an off-brand flash mp3 player. I just wish it had a custom EQ setting and the ability to form playlists, as well as listen to a certain artist or album, etc. Maybe I can figure out how to do it. Over all, worth the money, though I had I problem when I disconnected it from my computer where it froze and I had to take out the battery and turn it back on. That's the only problem I've had so far though, so rock on!

By Jonathan M from Wilkesboro, NC on 12/26/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality

Pros: - Extremely easy setup, copy audio files from WMP11. - Having support for wma sure beats the quality/file size of mp3's. Cons: - Needs better support for library/playlist/organization of files on device. - I wish it would resume to the position of the file I was last listening too when I shut it down. An inconvenience when listening to audio books.

By Liz F from St. Loius, MO on 12/17/2006

If you're going to spend money on an mp3 player you may as well drop the extra cash and buy an iPod. The user's manual that came with this was terrible. Anyone unfamiliar with using mp3 players or with Windows Media Player will be compelety lost. Also, every time I tried to add more songs, anything already loaded was deleted. Could be a user error or defective device, but still not worth the money. Go buy an iPod.

By Ali J from Franklin Square,NY on 12/9/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

Extremely user-friendly. No software required, simply plug it in, and you're ready to go. Handy as an extra MP3 player and a USB drive. For the price, it is a must buy. It beats out the iPod easily.

This player sounds very ...
By Doug W from Wisconsin on 12/3/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

This player sounds very detailed through a good pair of full range headphones (in the "normal" EQ setting), is quite easy to load / operate and has a fantastic screen with great contrast. I haven't encountered any of the problems other reviewers have mentioned. The two improvements that this player needs are gapless playback and a user adjustable custom EQ setting, both of which could be accomplished through updated firmware. However, when this player is on sale, it is an extremely good value for a 2GB player.

By Alex S from Vernon, CT on 12/2/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good Value

I wanted to be able to play albums front-to-back but I could not get the play list to do that. I was told that using Windows Media Player (I have version. 10) synchronizing functionality to load the songs to the unit would be the way to go but I couldn?t make it happen. Could just be user error but I?m not stupid so I would say that even if it can be done, it?s not straightforward or intuitive to anyone but the geekiest geek! So, along that line I would have to say that the instruction manual was inadequate. Other than that, it was a snap to use. I didn?t even try to use the earbuds as I have audiophile grade ear buds, which produce awesome bass when used with my hard-drive based mp3 player with the open source ?Rockbox? firmware. No such bass response with this unit, though it does have an ?equalizer? function of sorts (bass, jazz, and a few other choices from a menu). I liked the standard AAA battery idea as opposed to a proprietary battery. I am giving a high score in value, because I was able to pick one up during a rebate offer on ?Black Friday? 6 hour sale. I returned it for the apparent inability to control play list order and my disappointment in sound quality.

By dave k from new orleans on 11/29/2006
Pros:
Good sound quality

This thing is not very easy to get up and running. I spent forever putting 1.95M of songs on here from MusicMatch and then the system jammed up on me. It never came out of the "searching music library" mode. The concept and style are nice, web customer service is good too. However after countless hours trying to get this to work, it's going back. Maybe I got a lemmon?! PS. You need to be HE-MAN to open the back of it to put in the batteries!!

Decent sound and light ...
By Mike S from Alpine, Utah on 11/25/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality, Good Value

Decent sound and light weight and portable. The buttons protrude beyond the face so it's east to bump them if you don't have the lock on. My biggest objection is the time it takes to initialize after changing batteries. 20 minutes before you can hear a song seems a little ridiculus. Also the time it takes to download from Music Match is at least 4 times longer than my Sandisk player.

By Sami R from Dallas on 11/25/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good sound quality

Very similar to the Samsung YP-U2J, except this will not charge from USB. This has better screen, a bit larger and the HP jack is on the end not the side-which I really like. Too bad this uit will not cahrge a re-chargable AAA battery from a USB. But overall, I like it better than the Samsung.
