I purchased a set of GMRS/FRS 2-Way Radios Model: 21-1926 & I exchanged them for the Motorola SX700R set. I have had them less than a Month & they are a good little radio for the price, more pleased with them than I have been with any set so far. NOAA Weather Radio works good too.
The Only thing I have yet to figure out is how to change the Faceplates on the Radios, which the Salesperson should explain on the proper procedure to change the Faceplates before they are Sold.
I have the Only GMRS/FRS Base Unit Model: 21-1846 that Radio Shack had in Stock & would eventually like to see them come out with another Base Unit with more Privacy Codes & NOAA Weather too.

Well first off everyone ...
By Tim P from Ohio on 1/8/2007
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good reception, Good Value

Well first off everyone must keep in mind that these radios transmit and recieve on UHF frequencys, all FRS/GMRS radios do, this means that the radios work best if they are used in the line of sight. If you intend on using the radios in parks, or around town don't expect to get amazing range. You can expect to get maybe 3-5 miles in the city depending on the surroundings. These radios are well designed and work great, however Motorola could have designed a better belt clip, I say this because our radios are used in construction/recreation, so they will hold up to high standards but don't beat on them. I would recommend the these radios to anyone, but if you expect to get the range listed on the package you will be disappointed. I also would like to recommend that if you are looking for amazing range try a professional radio, somthing that has an output of at least 5 Watts, or a cell phone. -Tim

By Brian W from Kent.Ohio on 4/5/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good reception, Good Value

I have had these radios for over a year now and they have gone to Heck and Back! Working with youth ministry camps, they have given a great sense of security to everyone as all the adults are 100% in contact with eachother 100% of the time. I could not suggest these high enough to anyone that works in Summer Camps or that does Youth Retreats!

By Yong S from Tucson on 1/19/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good reception, Good Value

This radio is great if you know how to use it. Effective mile for all types of radios are cut by half (Radios are boasted on best range, not optimal), and remember that these radios are line of sight. Anything between you and the other radio will drastically reduce your range.
