No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Earpiece shreds after a few months, sound is very spotty and noisy-lots more complaints from callers than previous headset which had noise and wind cancellation.

Only feature I like is folding mike to save battery.

I've had this bluetooth for a year and and the rubber on the ear starts coming apart. Do plan on going very far from this bluetooth either, it has the worst signal of any bluetooth item I've ever owned.

Have used many different "head sets" over the years. This one is, by far, the best. You forget that it is on your ear...so light, so comfortable.
Sound quality is excellent, both sending and receiving. Not so sure about the 30' though. 10' away is more accurate, but I keep the phone in my pocket, anyway.

Headset works well when you first get it. After awhile the moving mic boom wears out. You start getting drop calls, hang ups, and it starts calling people in your recent calls list randomly

Shoddy

Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Poor Design, Poor Sound, Uncomfortable
Describe Yourself:

Nobody can hear me when I use this headset. Sometimes they complain that I'm muffled because the mic has somehow maneuvered into my cheek, and sometimes they complain that I'm breaking up. I spent way too much money and totally wish I'd stuck with a wired headset.

out of four bluetoothes this is my 2nd best one- the thing that made not return this one is it's functionality- it cuts on and off with the flip of its mic, takes three way calls, clicks over, clicks over and ends other calls, and has a redial feature, it isn't a bad fit once you get use to it- at first you may not like it but after two days it okay, the signal strength is excellent but with my samsung sync, the clarity could be better meaning there is a lil static- not enough to be irritating- which both me and the other person can hear

poor design of HS850 earpiece membrane

One of the primary marketing pushes for the HS850 Bluetooth is the foldable boom mike. The problem is that when the mike is folded it pushes tightly up against the flimsy rubberish earpiece membrane. After a few weeks of use, the earpiece membrane was permanently folded down where the mike hit it each time I turned the unit off. Remember, closing the mike was another reason the marketers said to buy the unit. Now, the membrane has torn away from its base, after six months of casual use. Furthermore, the section that is now exposed, where the earpiece used to be attached, has revealed sharp, serrated plastic. It's like putting a plastic knife up to your ear when you put the HS850 on.If that sounds reasonable to you, buy one. If it doesn't sound reasonable, don't buy one.At the time I purchased mine, it was quite expensive. Sorry, Motorola. It should last more than six months.[...]

Really like the foldable ...
By Trey T from Hinton, OK on 5/22/2007

Really like the foldable boom and the weight of the headset, which makes it comfortable other than it feels like it's going to fall off my ear. Biggest two complaints are that you can't do anything with it on or it will fall off and had volume maxed out and still couldn't hear that good in a quiet vehicle.

The best headset ever!!! ...
By Jeff k from woodland park, CO on 5/4/2007

The best headset ever!!! I have tried another motorola headset(H500)and couldn't hear cause the volume didn't go up higher. I even tried the jabra BT800 and liked the sound quality, but couldn't hear in the office. I then bought the HS850 and love it!! The sound quality is awsome and like all motorola headsets it was easy to pair to my V3 razr. Even with the volume not all the way up i can hear people very well in every situation, and they can hear me just fine. This is the best headset that i have owned and reccommend it to every one. The price is a little high for a headset that has been on the market for a while, but i like it anyway. The battery life is great and so is the talk times. Also i like the fact that it beeps in your ear to tell you that you phone isn't is service. That is just great!!!!

Got this unit for christmas present, ear hook is too short, feels very uncomfortable and always feels like it is going to fall off. Rubber speaker shroud falling off already 4 months later. Not worth the price.

By Steve C from Laurel, MD on 4/19/2007

This headset was fine when I purchased it about 2 yrs ago. Then the membrane around the earpiece came off. Then the one of the hinge ends broke off. Bluetooth is great. But this product is not worth the money.

This is a great Bluetooth! My only problem with it is that sometimes it can have a little static in the background but you can still hear them. Out of all the one's I had this one is the best. Worth the buy!!!

This product works great. ...
By Gary B from Los Angeles on 2/9/2007
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good sound quality, Good Value

This product works great. It is easy to pair, sound quality is good, features are nice, and talk time is great. It is a bit larger than many of the headset on the market now...it was not when I acquired it. It does get uncomfortable if you are not used to wearing a headset, or if you do not know how it is supposed to fit on your ear. Overall, this is an above average product.

Frequency response ...
By P.G. P from Temple on 11/7/2006
Pros:
Easy to use

Frequency response setting tends to pick up more bacground noise than audible voice. Microphone location next to face seems poor. Disappointing product for the money with poorly designed circuitry for voice pickup.

I can barely hear anyone ...
By Princess W from Orlando FL on 5/25/2006

I can barely hear anyone on this ear piece and vice versa. The instructions that came with the device is not that useful, I wish the store would let me trade it in for a different one, one that the callers can hear me on without yelling at them, it does not even fit my ear comfortably, it's a mess.

By Toni C from AR on 5/25/2006

I've been unable to pair this with my phone since I bought it - only the salesman can do it. When calling from my house I'm unable to hear if I go outside or move around. I'd love it if I could turn it on and hear better.

By Richard A from West Virginia on 5/24/2006
Pros:

what a terrible product! i can't hear anyone with it unless they are almost yelling. it makes my voice echo, and if you are a man and don't shave every day, the microphone makes scratching noises in the other person's ear constantly.

By Bob F from Los Angeles on 4/18/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good sound quality, Good Value

Once paired up with my Motorola E815, it is a no brainer... turn it on and it works. Sometimes receiving a call while still on another call may not work totally correct, but I think it is more operator error than a hardware problem. I am very happy with this product.

By Wendy H from Napa, CA on 4/4/2006
Pros:

I liked the weight of the headset, but it never felt totally secure on my ear, and after less than a year, it broke. I pulled it apart and the battery cable connection was faulty so I couldn't fix it. Also, it was hard to hear much of the time.

By Sam S from Fort Worth on 3/6/2006
Pros:
Easy to use

I have had multiple headsets, and this is by far the worst. Poor design for volume, and highest volume is far too low in most environments. Finally, regardless of how good I got at wearing it, it would still fall off with the slightest movement sometimes.

By Kerri J from Houston, Tx on 2/16/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good sound quality, Good Value

The main reason I got this headset is because I had another one and every time I charged it I had to reconnect it to the phone. This one I don't, just open the mic and go. The sound quality is also good. I talk to my mother who is very hard of hearing and wears a hearing aid. She always had trouble hearing me while on the phone but she has no problems hearing me on this headset.

By Leslie C from Denver CO on 1/16/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance

I bought this headset to work with my Samsung A900. I'm taking it back because the volume doesn't go high enough - I can't hear very well at all in a quiet room, let alone driving in the car. Also - I wish Motorola would have put a little spring on the hinge so it wouldn't fall off your ear.
