I'm going out to buy a new one if possible but I'd like to have a replacement battery carriage for my old Lumistar 'cause I hate to throw it away.
I'm a Flashaholic and to tell the truth there are brighter, better built, cheaper luxeon lights check around before you buy this cause the light may last 11 years but the batteries clamshell will not!
It looks like I'm not the only one who's had there flashlights life come to an end because its battery compartment disintegrated
This flashlight uses 3 batteries so it does not require a voltage booster/regulator to get the voltage needed to power the LED.
It's annoying to change 3 batteries in the goofy little caddy insert, and with all of the contact points involved the light will flicker now and then. The lack of a regulator also means the brightness will begin to fade immediately. It is also heavier and larger than competing flashlights.
Some other flashlights on the market use only a single AA battery, are just as bright, and maintain the same brightness for most of the battery's life.
This flashlight is really only good for infrequent, casual use by people who do not want to carry it around. Maybe leaving it on a bedside table or in a glove box.
A candle would be more reliable. It was dropped once in very thick bermuda grass and it was done!
Wonderful light.. too bad the flimsy battery holder breaks in short order and you're out [$].
After having trouble with my Lumistar led Flashlight, They informed me that if I was having trouble with it to contact the Manufacturer. I kept the flashlight in my truck for emergencies. One night I had a flat and reached for my Emergency flash light and it wouldn't work. The battery casing had disintegrated. [...]

Comparing this LED flashlight to a MAGLITE is like comparing apples to oranges. Yes, they are both flashlights; yet they use completely different technology.PROS: -Very bright. 25-30 lumens is perfect. -At least 4 times brighter than a mini MAGLITE of similar size(See Photo).-Well made. Sharp, aluminum body. Not too heavy.-Nice center beam.-Clicky works well.CONS:-One mode beam.-AAA batteries suck; 3-4 hours average.-Alot of overspill. -No free pouch?!BOTTOM LINE: For [$] bucks you get a very well made, perfectly bright flashlight.

I bought two of these flashlights around Christmas. I go on walks nightly with my dog and that is the only use these flashlights get. I was not hard on them at all. However, when you open the case to change the batteries the plastic cradle that holds the AAA batteries will probably have hairline fractures and break. This makes the flashlight useless. I have a mag lite led flashlight that is not as bright but it is far superior because of durability. You put the batteries straight in the flashlight and there is no cradle to worry about.
Flashlight is the brightest I've seen....BUT... it's pretty pathetic that the part that breaks on this flashlight is the battery case after which it is useless. My maglight is nowhere near as bright but it's bulletproof...
This exceptionally bright flashlight really came in handy during the power outages associated with the recent ice storm. Like a previous reviewer, I also had a problem with the flashlight turning on while being stored. I was keeping it in a soft-sided brief case. The manufacturer should correct this. In the mean time, I keep it in the (trimmed) plastic packaging that it came in, secured with a rubber band. I will purchase more when the switch is improved. If it wasn't for the switch, I would have rated it with all 5's.
Our local radioshack in egypt does not have any backup or replacment parts for such a product, its a shame. On off is a problem also. No pouch is supplied with it.
Great bright light in a convenient carry-around size. the battery pack is only a slightly difficult to get out/in - no real complaint there.
after battery chamber failed, i called the manufacturer. they were very helpful in mailing me a new chamber. works perfectly now
yeah, the battery holder is a problem also. tried to put batteries in, something popped out. flashlight is pretty much useless after that.
This is a seriously bright flashlight with a nice smooth beam pattern. My only problem with this light is that the on/off button is easily pushed. Several time I have found it in my backpack ankbag on. One time it must have been on a very long time as it was hot, extremely hot ... burn you hot. Not counting that, it's an excellent light.
I like this flash light very much, although I do have a problem with it. the battery holder has broken and it seems as though my local radio shack store does not want to do much to help me. At 29.95 for a flash light I do not want to hear contact the manufacturer as they are the only one who can help you. Poor customer service in my opinion!!
I'm a firefighter/paramedic and in a job like this working out in the elements and in poorly lit areas I need compact, reliable bright flashlight. I frequintly use this over my $100 compact flashlight. well worth the money
Very bright 1 led light compared to Radioshack's triplex 3-led light. Good all around flashlight, price may deter some though.
