A fun way to remotly gain access to the air, however in my community it proves rather difficult to purchase replacement parts. (upper and lower rotory blades) The store does not keep them in stock and it takes several days to order them in. Plus there is no way to order them directly on line....
I see the reviews finding fault with the flimsy design. It is a toy!!! The helicopter has to be light to be able to get off the ground on the few minute charge that it takes to get going. I fly the big RC stuff, and it gets quite complicated and EXPENSIVE. My son got this for Christmas, and it is great for his 5 year old capabilities. We fly together, and have a lot of fun. A perfect way for him to build up to the big ones in a couple of years. Yes, some crashes, but it makes a good recovery. The rotor blade shaft broke, and I repaired it with a little peice of RC Ariplane fuel tubing. It is good to go now. This is worth the money.
"I" always wanted to fly and now i am. This is a "GREAT" toy. My wife says "I should have bought you one of this things years ago. It seems I spend a lot of time with my heli, it is easy to fly and flies great. I can send it soaring in any direction and back with ease, my daughter threaten to break it if I do not stop my heli from attacking her while she is busy doing homework. What a great toy. I bought 3 and strip the decals of one and painted it white with silver trim (looks real "cool"). and flys like the real thing. I have crashed dozens of times but no problem the little copter keeps on flying. No problems what so ever. Thanks and "KEEP TO THE SKIES". . .
Very disappointing product. Yes, compared to some other toy helicopters, it is probably more stable. However, the blades are the weak link. Reminds me of the "give the razor to sell the blades sort of thing" - except here you "sell the 'copter so you can sell someone $100 worth of replacement blades in a year". For the combined cost of this toy and the ourageously flimsy and expensive-to-replace blades, you can buy a small hobby grade 4 channel that you really can control. I recommend the Walkera 5#5. That is what we've done.
It is really fun once you get the hang of controlling it. But, the quality of the rotors are dismal at best. After quickly breaking a rotor blade after I first bought it, the replacement blades were warped to the extent that they were useless and I gave them to the cat to play with. Because of this, I am still debating whether to buy another replacement set of flimsy, "D-" grade rotors or just buy a different product.
Item is Very Cool if it wasn't built so poorly. the Rotors are attached to the central shaft by metal Pins that allow the rotors to spin, tilt, and flex. Unfortunately I found MANY 'copters in the box with at least 1 to 4 pins not installed. This leads to overly fragile rotors that will not spin true. [...].After returning 2, I found one in Good working order; then it was a cool toy.
The first model I had (purchased in Oct 07) the blades broke on the first use. The spare blades I purchased on the same day didn't fit. [...] First use broke the tiny peg that holds the blades on (not repairable). Helicopter and unused replacement blades went in the trash. Very poor quality.
My dog (terrier) and I had a lot of fun playing with this toy. I do not know what these people were doing when they broke these helicopters, but my dog attacked this thing multiple times and it still flys like a champ. Hours of hilarious fun.
It was easy to fly for my 5 year old. light weight but would be nice to order new blades or have some more accurate information on how to order new blades.
We tried 2 other brands (not radio shack) of helicoptors and one is okay but the other sucked. This spiderman is the best of the bunch. It is easy to trim the rotation and responds to turns by toggling the direction joystick (not holding it). The rotor is showing chipping but only after dozens of crashes. My boys are 6 and 8 and both do well with it after only a little direction.
All I can say from reading these other reviews is there are a lot of admittedly bad pilots who complain of broken blades. The key is to know how to fly and not constantly slam it into a wall or crash it in the side of someones head and you'll find it will last a lot longer.
my wife bought this as a replacement to one similar to this one that broke on x-mas day. this was purchased on sat. and by tues afternoon it was broken. not as durable as they say they are although they will take some abuse. batteries last 7 to 10 mins. which is NORMAL for a rc vehicle. CHARGES IN 25 TO 45 MINS. DEPENDING ON HOW FAR THE BATT. IS DRAINED. all in all decent but not very durable. you want one, spend the money for the real rc version.
First blade broke within the first charge and the second charge another blade broke. Now worth spending [$] for a 15 minute toy.
After my child flew this for the first time, the rotor blade snapped in half. It is very poorly built. If you fly this in a room that has nothing in it at all except walls, you may be okay. Lets just say that you get what you pay for.....
This helicopter is the third R/C copter we have owned and by far the best. The design keeps it from breaking easily upon crashing. The other two we have owned were broken within a day! It is also easy to fly once you get the hang of it. It can hover and move forward; once you get good, you won't crash. Anyways, my son of 4 and I are really enjoying this toy. Thanks radioshack for an excellent product!
I received this heli for Xmas and was pleased with how well it flew. After just a few moments I was flying this toy around the living room and over the Xmas tree. I even flew it from one room down a 3'wide hallway to another room. I have ran into a few things and it has been very durable so far.
This product is great for kids. My 5 year old loves it and its very durable. It been flown into a wall and still keeps on going. the only bad thing is that the wings tear after several hits. but besides that a great starter helicopter.

This looked really cool and I thought my 8 year old nephew would enjoy this but after a short flight the blades just ripped appart while trying to fly this. It didn't even last 10 minutes. I was so disappointed.
I was disappointed when the rotor broke on the second flight. Then could not buy parts. The closest parts ?might? be 2 days drive from where I live. I feel like I was cheated.
After the second flight I had to tape the rotor blades because they broke. Then after that it was entertaining because I tried to shoot it with my nerf gun while my nephew "flew" it.
Blades started breaking in 10 minutes of use.
I also have an Airhog heli and while it is probably more durable, (I haven't broken either one yet) this one is much more stable and easier to fly, so you shouldn't crash it as much. A young child would probably destroy this or any other heli.

You can hit, bump or crash and they still keep going, very durable.
Unfortunately I did not read these reviews before purchasing not only one, but THREE of these helicoptors. The first one that was opened for my brother did not even work to begin with. The second one for my husband was opened at 2:30 and the shaft was broken by 4:20. And the last one was purchased for my father - was also opened at 2:30 and the flimsy blades were broken by 4:30. None of the above owners were young... They were very careful and easy on the object but it still broke. [...]This was extremely disappointing. We were not looking for something extravagant of any sort, just something fun for them to do while we sit and chat in the living room. I am absolutely disgusted that this product remains on the shelves and is even CONSIDERED for children or teenagers of any age. Not even adults can keep this thing up and running. The controls are even hard because they change as the battery dies. Sometimes it would turn, sometimes it wouldn't. And it sucks that you have to charge the battery for 45 minutes when you can only run it for 7 minutes. I hope that everybody reads this before purchasing such a cheap, totally waste of time toy.
flying nitro but its raining out side and guess what some fun inside for the price, lots of fun, just using the controls and don't panic
Better fun and easier to fly then my $200 4 channel helicopter i used to have.
My wife got this for me for my birthday (44) and my son (14 months) and I love it! I fly it and he chases it around.
Not worth the money...broke on 2nd flight. I wouldnt waste the money to buy it.
Fun but fragile. Rotor blades broke in several places throughout the first day of use. Tried to tape them but it began beating itself into submission while flying.
This is a nice helicopter. it is fragile so you have to be careful flying it.definately not for children!i'm haveing lots of fun flying it in the house.remember it really ca'nt take impacts just like a real helicopter ca'nt take impacts!
These micro RC helicopters are excellent for the money. To remember what RC helicopters cost 5-10 yrs ago, this is unbelievable. Yes they're simple and relatively unmaneverable, but still amazingly cheap RC flying. Those expecting to fly RC with no learning process (crashes) are unrealistic. Computer simulated RC flying would be more realistic to those expecting no learning requirements.
YES, I absolutely WOULD recommend this toy, because you just-about can't get as fun and semi-easy remote-controlled flying device as this for the money! Now, granted, the blades ARE flimsy and low-quality, but don't they have to be pretty light in order to fly such a small device? YEAH! You just EXPECT them to break now and then, but 1. you can fix them all right with some good thin tape (like your average transparent tape), and then 2. when a set is too broken up to fix anymore, you can easily buy REPLACEMENT blades, right here at [...] (at least the site here says so--I'll check our local stores here soon--and the sets are only about 1/4 the price of the whole unit)!I'm having fun with this, and you should, too![@]
i liked this helicopter. but it doesn't have any direction control. but it was fun. if you get it you will see that it is clearly not an indoor helicopter. the best way to learn how to fly it is to bring it to an open area like a trampoline in a big backyard or soccer feild or something. then just practice take offs and landings. oh and the charger is messed up and the charging light won't turn off. so keep adding 15 minutes to each time you charge it. the batteries last about 4 charges.
Nice cosmetics, but very thin, flimsy plastic blades. These blades broke on the third flight.
After only 7 months of infrequent and careful use, shaft broke. This is a toy that will not last.
Very fragile, both blades broke with first flight. The shaft broke and I had to send it back. This all happened in the comfort of the living room. One bump into the wall and then the coffee table on the way down. Don't buy this toy.
Really cool toy but the blades continue to break and I am frustrated with having to make constant repairs.
It does practically nothing and will break at the first sign of trouble. Even a slight breeze from an AC vent will send its blades thwacking against eachother as it plunges toward the ground, certain to break the blades. The Mosquito helicopter is MUCH better.
After 20 minute of use the bottom blade craked from the motor. i have tried to crazy glue it back. it worked for a while but the fan connector craked as well. they should have spare parts with the box.
After about 3 crashes the blades started to break. The manufacture needs to offer some sort of replacement blades since they are made so poorly!!!!!
Very Durable I crashed it into everything and took days for it to break. Tape works good to fix it. Ajust the trim first or you will just spin!
Overall Helicopter is really good.. Not really easy to learn and blade break on first or 2nd crash. Hot glue gun seems to work well when fixing broken blades to the wire. Still good training copter....
Yes, It's hard to get use to but if you read the directions CORRECTLY, you'll have lots of fun with it.
This is cool toy and it flies really well until you crash or hit something....the rotor blades are really poor quality and break way too easily! This should come with replacement rotors or they should be of better quiality.
What a piece of junk. Garbage. RS should be ashamed of selling this. Breaks on first flight. All 6 I tried from the Same RS.
neat copter blades are fragile but win you get the hang of flying it it flys very good can get replacement blades on net not for little kids
Broke on the first try. Manufacturer should offer replacement blades being that the blades are so cheap.
2 blades broke in the 1st hour of use. No replacement kit anywhere to be found. Piece of junk for the money. My son is extremely disappointed
Great toy! ! ! Nothing but good to say about it! Not one complaint! Easy for just about anyone to fly! ! !
I had this heli for a day, crashed it twice, and it broke, to the point of entire unit replacement. I am trying something else.
I just bought it for me and my son. Seems like this one is mine. LOL I love the lil thing its so good. The precision is unmatched for the price. I would recomend to to anyone.
I bought the dragonfly and the spdidey copter today, and the spidey copter is way better, especially for indoors since the dragonfly does not hovver. The dragonfly is already repacked and going back in the morning. Very cool toy! I would expect a toy this fun to cost alot more!
