I have gone through two price drops and three pairs of headphones. The headphones themself are good. Great range. Sound good. No these are not $100 wired headphones but sound is clear with good bass. The battery is the failure of this device. Very difficult to find replacement battery. Will substitute another 6v Lithium ion battery. For (Currently) [$] I'll find a battery.
This looked like it was going to be a good deal, but pass on this one and get a reputable brand. The battery life on this is horrible. With a fresh charge, it _might_ get an hour of audio streaming on a mid range volume.
When making a phone call, the receiving party always complains of low volume and that it sounds like you are "in a barrell".
I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a good headset.
I gave 2 stars and am being generous as battery life is horrible after 1 week of use. Really this battery issue needs to be addressed [...]. MANY people having the same problem. (Google spider battery issues) Bad battery is a Powerdisc 3555 (PD3555) made by Korea Power Cell. I can't find a replacement anywhere for sale. To replace the battery looks like a snap...if you can find a replacement!!! Anyway pretty good product otherwise but battery issue kills it. I'm returning mine for refund. [...] but all those who can't return this product, and have a dead spider with no hope otherwise, there is a "fix" by inserting a ipod nano battery and soldering a few wires. Appears to work great. [@]Anyway good luck!
This is the only class 1 set I'm aware of. When I use my computer with its class 1 adapter, I can get reception throughout my house and even to much of the yard.
Your ears may get a little "tired" after wearing them for a while.
I've had people complain with voice calls that they couldn't hear me very well.
I think I was lucky to get a set with a good battery but I did notice the battery will wear down even when the set is off. It may not be good for the battery to wear down all the time like that so I keep it plugged in whenever it's off.
Do not plan to watch live tv. There's a delay of maybe 300ms that makes it too annoying to watch tv. Some video player software will let you insert a delay in the video stream and that makes the set usable for video. Some newer sets like the Logitech Freepulse have reduced this delay so it's less noticeable.
charges quickly, but i only got 30 minutes of battery life on the first AND second pair. very dissatisfied, lots of reviews said same thing. i wish i would have read them earlier. you get what you pay for. wouldnt recommend to anyone.

Great Sound and Music! It's worth the Price!
This product really @#$@#$. After paying [$]when these first came out, they worked great in the beginning. Then after everyday use I noticed the breakdow of this unit. The battery start to take a lesser charge, the reception on from my cell would break up during calls, and I couldn't wear them longer than a train ride home before the beeping would start to tell me the battery was dying. Most units are built to last roughly about 4-6 hours of use. I couldn't get from door-to-door with these puppies on my daily commute without them dying. They are bulky and hurt after long use. These suck...! now they are [$]....DON'T DO IT...!
Tried to charge them and had a flashing red indicator. Manual says this means lo batt when they're on, but shouldn't flash when charging. Easily paired with my T-Moble Wing, but only for maybe 1 hour. Kept trying to charge, but no luck.
Finally opened left earpiece, and cleaned battery and battery contacts with scotchbrite pad. Wouldn't have bothered, but for this price was worth the risk. Three screws under ear cushion. Outside cover pops off from rear. Note position of pad on battery. Some delicate wires in there. Be careful not to pinch them between speaker magnet and battery when re-assembling.
They're working great now. Sound is good, but not excellent. Better than most earbuds, but not like sennheiser or bose. Best headset for phone conversation - wired or bluetooth - that I've tried. Voices are clear, and callers can hear me well without having to cup my hand by the microphone.
The spider here was great, bought it, brought it home, and immediately tried to hook it up to my cell phone, hooked up fine but you had to enter the passkey to actually hook it up to be used. I wouldnt accept the key, so i fiddled a few time until finally i used search on my phone, THEN turned it on, entered the code and voila. I remember how i couldnt wait to pipe music through those ear cups, but my dreams were shattered, the sound quality was utterly disappointing, so i returned it, broken hearted.
But other than that, it very comfortable, and easy to use.
They work well, and sound reasonably well. They are a little bass-less but overall I'm very happy with them.
I bought these when they went on sale a while back and I could not be happier with them. I use them on they way to and from work, on and off all day at work, then go home and listen while I read and I've never run out of battery in a single day. I use them with both my computer and my mp3 phone and neither has a problem connecting. I love that I can even connect to both sources with different profiles. I'll be listening to music on my computer when a call comes in, and single click of the side button stops the music and answers the call. Another click ends the call and turns my music back on. All in all a brilliant product.
Have not been able to get the microphone to work in any way. Either with the laptop or the phone.
But streaming stereo to it sounds great and the ?joystick works well.
I don't get 5 min. out of it. It won't take a charge, so it's always dieing
This is a "type 2" Bluetooth device, so its range is much greater than others(30') out there.I have gone over 150 feet from my laptop and continued to have clear, uninterrupted audio with these. The battery life seems sporadic; sometimes I get 3 hours, other times I get one, puzzling. If you've got a big head, consider something else; these will work, but the earpieces won't be right over your ears, and get a bit uncomfortable.[...] Audio levels are somewhat low and make this ineffective in my vehicle or with background noise. Also, higher frequencies are rather attenuated, so it's a little boomy.
works great for me. i use it every nght at work (a couple of hours here and there), never ran out of charge. i make sure to charge every couple of days. i'm waiting for another half off sale to get one for the wife.
Battery life was horrible, exchanged them for the Motorola S9, so much bettter!
The sound quality is good and it is easy to use. The biggest problem is the battery life. If I turn it off and try to use it the next day the battery is dead and I only get about 2 hours of play time. I returned it because I thought it was defective but the new one still dies.
Not getting more than 30 Min. of use per charge, other wise when its charged it's fine, Anyone got any tips on how to make the charge last longer? And yes I've charged it 90 Min and longer.
What a waste of money! Spend about an hour in Radio Shack looking for a set of stereo headphones to use with my new RAZR. The associates upsold me to the Spider Bluetooth phones assuring me they would be easy to connect and would sound great with my RAZRs MP3 player. Nope! Ain't happenin'... The devices see one another and simple functions like phone calls and key depression send a signal to the headphones but the digital audio player? Not a chance... and yes it works fine with the headphones unplugged. I wouldn't recommend them.... I'm taking mine back!
I received these headphones as a gift and they worked really great, for two days... Now they will not charge or turn on at all, stay away from this one! There is no customer service.
I bought these on sale (50% off) and I couldn't have asked for more. The sounds quality is great, the battery life has been fine for me. I went back soon after to pick up a pair for a friend... good and inexpensive headset
Like others who have commented, I purchased two sets of the Spider and neither would hold a charge for more than 45 minutes of play. The sound is good for as long as it lasts but there is clearly a real problem with this product. Radio Shack should stop selling them until the battery life problem is resolved. Many consumers are registering complaints about this problem. Wake up Radio Shack!
Wow!! 1.5 hours of charging for 2 hours of listening. So besides being useless they sound fine.
I just purchased these and had no problem pairing them with my phone. The sound quality is great! Got them on sale, so these were a great value!
I have 2 pairs of them. The first pair was very good (7-8 hours battery), and I modified it (used the speaker from KTXPRO1 instead), sound and range are excellent; but the second pair (I liked the first that get another) is horrible, can't go longer than 2 hours, as other posters said, the red light keeps flashing no matter how long it charge, will return the 2nd pair for (fixed) one
Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky ones who bought a faulty set. THREE TIMES in as many days. First set expired after the first charge never to live again. Second set wouldn't take a full charge, playing only 20 minutes, tops. Third set I got an hour out of after charging overnight. There is definitely a problem here with the battery not charging. Like others, I got the red light blinking after about 20 minutes of charge time on all three sets. It never stops, no matter how long the charger is attached. For the brief periods they did play, I was happy with the sound quality at first (it would deteriorate quickly with the failing battery). Fit was great, they are sized small, but that's what I wanted. Range was minimal... no better than the cheap generic BT earset I was upgrading from. (Edited by moderator.)
I purchased this product when Radio Shack first started carrying it. After returning the first one because of battery life issues, I ended up going through 4 more with either more battery issues or having no power whatsoever. If you are looking for a decent headset, go with either the Motorola HT820 (17-970) or the MOTOROKR S9 (17-2493). I have the HT820 and it works beautifully.
(Edited by moderator) Overall the range, battery life and sound quality has been very good. This set works EXCELLENT both with my samsung cell phone and with my sony vaio laptop. It did not pair well with a motorola stereo Bluetooth usb dongle. For the price it is an excellent value.
While this product has good sound quality and depth, a long wireless range, seemless bluetooth setup with my HTN 8525, and comfortable fit I was not able to utilize these for very long because all three trial products would not let me charge them. At first, while charging, the red light did come on solid, but after a half an hour or so it started blinking red indicating low battery life. They remained blinking red throughout the next two nights. After this, I unplugged them from the outlet and they only worked for less than one hour indicating they weren't fully charged. Mind you, I had charged each and every trial product for two nights in a row. I tried three of these products. Strike three and your out!
the controls are easy...it's a joy stick up&down is volume, side to side lets you skip songs. press the button you can make, or answer calls, or pause music. i can listen to music for hours daily , and i only put it on the charger once a week!
I really like this headset. I got this when it was on sale, and i think it is a wonderful headset. The quality of sound is pretty good and it is fairly easy to use, the only problem i found was the orientation for the volume buttons.
This headset is not comfortable, dependable nor effective. The microphone is not efficient and the earphones, while efficient, are terribly uncomfortable to wear for any extended time.
Great speaker sound quality. Poor battery life. Poor microphone. No audible indicators for controls. Found uncomfortable for extended wear.
I found this headset to be almost impossible to set up. Once it did set up. it was intermittant. I would pair with the computer sometimes, but then it wouldn't. It also is NOT compatable with an IPAQ, which is what I bought it for, the intermittant problem was with a pc. I rate this headset in the junk catagory. Returned it. sorry.
Sound quality, range, and functionality are excellent... but my 1st one's battery lasted <6 hrs. The 2nd one couldn't go 3 hrs. after a weekened of charging. The 3rd one failed bluetooth service discovery. And the 4th one's battery also died before 4 hrs. After 3 weeks of this, they still hurt my ears. I'm getting my money back.
This is a great product, the sound quality and what this thing can do is amazing. Although, the battery does not last that long and turning it on and off can be very confusing, but once it is connected and on it is amazing
First one was DOA. 2nd one would not charge correctly or hold a charge. Had to take both back. When it worked sound quality was very good.
Great HEADSET! MIC is awesome! Works great with my T-Mobile DASH. Great sound quality and microphone. The joystick control on the side of the headset was a great innovation! Don't hesitate! Buy now!
DID NOT WORK WITH MY DELL AXIM. THEY ALSO DID NOT FIT MY HEAD. THEY ARE VERY SMALL. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I bought these at a Radioshack on my way to go snowboardin. I got the iGo car charger, and had it juiced up by the time I got to the slopes. It was very easy to setup and worked awesome. I use my bluetooth LG Fusic phone as my MP3 player. I don't know how they work with other things, but with my phone they worked flawlessly.
One of the best purchases i have made in a long time. I use it wiht My Motorola Q and the audio quality is fantastic. I have also tested with my mac. Works well. Yet music does not sound as good as with the Q. It seems the Q has an performace ehancement feature specific to blue tooth sets
Note to all.... Be sure that the device you're pairing the headphones with supports the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Not all PCs/Laptops or dongles support those profiles. I used a Zoom 4320AF with success, but be sure to download the software and driver from Zoom as the WindowsXP "generic" bluetooth will not support the profiles. (The Bluetake SX series dongles "should" work to) Other than that the stereo sound quality is quite acceptable and noise free. However when used as a headset with a phone the quality isn't as good as I would hope. The microphone doesn't carry the higher freqs very well and sounds muddy. I also was able to connect the stereo profile to my PC and the headset profile to my phone at the same time. This allowed me to listen to music and answer my phone.
These headphones are technologically impressive - especially in the range category!! I am able to leave my Motorola Q smartphone streaming in the the gym lockeroom, while I walk around the entire gym (one floor) hearing the music stream no problem!! I can't even find another Class 1 (328ft) bluetooth headset. This is the best feature of the headset. The battery life also seems OK, however I wasn't able to get the 10 hours advertised run time. On the other hand, the fit is a bit snug on my head and ears for long-term comfort. I am used to earbuds, but was looking forward to the over-the-ear style headphones as earbuds are typically not loud enough and fall out easily. The trade-off for this design though comes in two forms: comfort, and sweat build up when working out. Another dissapointment seems to be in the sound quality area. My MP3's have a marked decrease in SQ (distortion, tinge of static on rock tracks), and 64k music streams aren't great. Not that they ever were, but I think being transmitted over BT really worsens the sound. I found some decent 96k streams that provided better SQ, but my MP3's should really sound better than they do (they are 192kbps). On the upside, the enclosed-earphone makes these headphones loud, loud enough to overcome ambient noise and even the gym's annoying music/PA system. Ultimately, I might be bringing these back. Again the technological marvel of wirelessly streaming music (loudly) from your smartphone at over 300 feet away is awesome. But head/ear discomfort, sweaty earphones (when doing cardio), and noticable decrease in SQ across-the-board means I might be going back to wired earbuds for now. I am tempted to try out the sony ericsson HBH-DS970's, but they only work within 30 feet.
Doesn't work well with the Motorola Q yet.
WOW!!!! this headset is the best i've ever had the battery last long, and the sount is great.
all i can say is wow
