This TV has one of the worst pictures ever. My 6 year old 27" Philips Magnavox had ALOT bettter picture then this peac of AKAI

This HDTV is good if you already have a digital cable box, satellite box, or an over-the-air antenna. My only gripe is that it does not have a QAM tuner, so in order to view digital cable channels you will need a set-top box. The reception of digital tv using an antenna is great here so I don't need the QAM tuner or a box. I had spent an hour switching from the two coaxial connectors ATSC and NTSC only to learn that it won't directly display digital coaxial cable TV without a box. It might have saved me some time if that was stated in the manual. Now onto the great things. The HD picture quality is amazing, I can see the wrinkles and pores of the local news anchors. The sound is just like most TVs, but this one includes a SPDIF optical out and a component R/L out that you can connect it to a home theater receiver or powered speakers. The fast 8ms response time is good for pc/console games, sports, movies and more. I am currently typing this review with the computer connected to the TV's VGA input.

I researched HDTVs for weeks before deciding on a purchase. Akai seemed like the best bet for the money so I bought it. I have a huge DVD collection and tried many DVDs upscaled to 1080i on the Akai through my PS3, I've run PS3 games on it in 1080i and 720p, I've run Wii games on it through component in 480p and I've watched bluray Dvds on the PS3 in 1080i on the Akai. All excellent results. I purposefully waited two weeks before writing this review so I could really get into the television. I was not disappointed at any juncture. I thought one of the cons would be the speakers but once I adjusted a few settings the speakers are actually good too. I would still recommend 5.1 surround or 7.1 if you have a PS3 but as is, this television is a great deal. Highly recommended.

This tv is the best tv for the money. Xbox 360 looks good on it. I have a theater system that's only 480p and it looks awesome. I plan to get the radio shack lg dvd/vhs combo that has an hdmi hookup. I plan on putting that on the Yamaha 660 watt theater system and hook all that up. All of this stuff comes from Radio Shack and they have the best stuff out there.

Great TV been on the market looking for one, found this one at radioshack, the sales associate that helped me was very nice and I left knowing how to plug everything up... The best thing is that I didnt have to go back to the store to pick up anything else that I needed... I would definatelly get my next TV from the Shack thanks guys
