do not buy
By dontbuythis from new york on 8/4/2008
Cons:
No recording in bags, Unreliable
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I needed to record things from my bag and it would not pick up sound or record over any tape. voice activation only works if recorder is out or very close to people talking

Pros:
Compact Design, High Quality Sound
Cons:
Special switches flimsy
Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

compact, easy to carry around. I use it to tape counseling sessions. the special features like fast playback & the ability to control the tone are great, but the switches are a bit flimsy...the pause switch too. I am afraid if I ever drop it these will break. It does pick up background noise, but you can lower the sensitivity. I had to take my first one back because of trouble recording, but they exchanged it no questions asked. Overall I am happy with this recorder so far...

Used in grad school for recording conversations in multiple settings, as well as classroom lectures. Tried other recorders(micro-tape & full-sized recorder with mic)and this one recorded clearer. Pop-up mic & playback useful, as well as tape counter for reviewing. Battery life seemed reasonable, but I frequently changed batteries to ensure peak performance. Worth the price.

By Carmen V from San Francisco on 3/13/2007
Pros:
Easy to use, Good features, Reliable

This recorder is pretty expensive, but the features and sturdiness can't be beat. I use it in my work, and love the cue marker and speed control. It's even user-friendly enough for my tech-phobic father to use while interviewing older relatives for a project. Again, it's pricey, but I'd never go back to mirco-cassettes.

This is the best portable cassette player I've ever owned. I've had it for 3 years, use it almost every day and it still works great!

By Tim G from Orem, Utah on 2/8/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good features, Good Value, Reliable

Its a great recorder the quality of the recordings are crisp and clean. The popup mic really reduces the sound of the recorder so you get more of your voice than machine. Overall worth the extra money to have those extra features.
