I dj small venues such as parties, small weddings, and small dances. Indoor or outdoor plenty of sound. I recommended one to the company my mother works for and they love it. They use it for shop picnics and when they have awards banquets, with 2 40-1440 RS horn speakers. A parade group that I am in also uses this amp with the bigger 40-1445 pa horns. We dance to a routine with music that runs through the amp from a RS 42-6057 portable cd player, connected with a 42-2551 cable. All systems are connected with 278-1267 speaker wire. 3 systems, different uses, 3 satisfied customers. Rock on with the Shack!!!

In some of the reviews below, it seems they are trying to use this amp for a purpose that really requires more than a 40-watt amp. This is a great little amp, but remember what it is intended for, and the relatively small amount you are paying for it.

It is not necessarily intended to deliver booming sound to a large or noisy room or venue. Check out the larger models on here if you need that. But I have found this item does work great for smaller PA systems, in less-noisy environments, even with multiple speakers involved.

Good comment below on matching the power of the amp to what your speakers can handle. Obviously its good to do that homework before buying.

I just bought this amp for my family's puppet ministry. We really love it. It outperforms anything we have ever used before. I like the fact that it has two microphone jacks, along with volume controls and tone controls. You can also hook up a CD player or anything else to it that you need. When hooked up with a good size speaker it really puts out the sound. We can't wait to use it outdoors, and in bigger room settings. We used it today during our skits, and it really made a difference in sound quality and performance. We are looking forward to using it for a long time to come.

The first reviewer bought an amp that did not match his inefficient old speakers and it could not power them up. That is why he was disapointed in this amp.

You must match the RMS watts listed for the amp to that listed for you speakers. This amp is for speakers listed at around 40-50 watts RMS.

It is a good amp for the price.

Not Worth It
By Sounder from Pittsburgh, PA on 9/28/2007
Cons:
Powerless
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We purchased one of these to run 2 10" speakers for calling bingo in a small hall. The amplifier is next to worthless. It lacks any power at all and must be run at nearly full volume to get anything out of it. The ancient tube amp we replaced sounds like audiophile quality by comparison.
