Bought ten of these for Emergency Preparedness. Knowing Radio Shack products I spent exta and purchased the extended warranty. This came in very handy. Four of the units broke at the hinge. This is common with many megaphones. Radio shack has an excellent warrenty program. I always buy one and when I get a replacement I also replace the warranty. I'll have these until the warranty wears out. Hopefully the Megaphones will last.

This Megaphone compares to the $100+ models, but is only [$]! The hinges can be funky, but if you are careful with it and treat it right there will be no trouble at all. Now I got it for only[$] so it is great for me. I use it almost everyday, and it is LOUD! I could do without the microphone, but that's ok. Overall, if you have been looking for a loud, long lasting powerhorn, this is it!

We used it for only a couple outdoor events and then the hinge broke and we had to use duct tape to hold the thing together. I would not recommend this unit.

I've used this FANTASTIC,DURABLE,AND WELL MADE piece of technology for years. I still have the same one when first purchased. I've recommended this marvelous product for years to many of my responsible friends. They have not experienced any faulty hinges or power problems. I belive consumers should read and follow instructions before handling any and all products. I nor my friends have ever experienced any hassle with their return policy on any product,if you broke it don't blame it on RADIO SHACK.

Well, I am glad I went to the trouble to read the other reviews. I think it's very sad that I had a faulty hinge as well. It appears that I am not the only one to experience that. I've only had it about 6 months, babied it, and the strap got caught on the battery door trap and I simply lifted it by the strap and the flimsy faulty sorry hinge broke. I find it amazing that they do not offer a replacement and if Radioshack cares about its customers, with as many broken hinges being the problem with this item, they need to fix it. [...]

We also had a problem with the hinge breaking after a very short time. Bought the extended warranty but they won't honor it for plastic and we can't get a replacement hings. Better to buy a better quailty megaphone.
