Its 300ft FROM THE CAMERA TO THE RECEIVER!! NOT 300ft OF VIEWING RANGE.

300ft is how far you can place the camera FROM the receiver and still get a signal. NOT how far the camera can see.

I've had 1 camera and receiver for over a year. A second camera from another system is also on the total system. I have the Swann receiver attached to a DVD recorder. Both cameras can be received by the Swann receiver and the little TV that came with the $80 WalMart clearance item. The Swann camera is under the eaves of the detached garage, on 110v 24/7. The receiver is indoors, about 60' away. To get better reception, including avoiding interference from the microwave, I attached the receiver to the DVD recorder via about 40' of stereo headphone cable, and the picture is always great. At night, it needs the motion detector lights on for a good view, but they come on if anything is in that area anyway. Daylight pix are superb. As for WiFi interference, I locked the wireless g router to a frequency that did not conflict with the 2 cameras. With 3 or 4 cameras, you'd have a problem. The dipswitches for changing the freq of the Swann camera are very tiny, hard to get at, and a bit confusing. Not for the faint of heart. But it works great in all weather (-40F to +100F here) and the sound is excellent also. Oh yes, I bought DECT phones at the same time to avoid interference

These cameras are great for anything that youll need them for. the only complaint that i had is that the switch box is too fast, and that the cameras are top heavy, and that they dont have a good wide range of veiw. Over all they are good.

I set this up for an older lady friend who has had other surveillance cameras. Installation was quick. We wanted to use AC power rather than her having to change out the 9V batteries. I was shocked at the short length of wire for the plug - only about 6'. Easily spliced another 30' onto it and pulled it through the attic to an existing outlet. The camera was to be mounted to an overhead beam, so when we turned it on, of course, the image was upside down! Also easily fixed - the camera has 2 small screws that can be removed and the housing flipped over 180 degrees for right-side-up viewing.

CLEAR picture (sometimes but not always in color) and decent night-time viewing.

We give it two thumbs up!

Insatalled, and never worked right. It had a Terribly broken signal, likely some sort of interference. Returned right away, and purchased a hard wired Lorex, which has an excellent picture, and GREAT night vision! Don't waste your time and money, with this overpriced paper weight!

The unit does not cover more than 10 ft from the wireless system. It advertises 300 ft but that is far from the truth. I took a tape measure and the best I got was 9 ft 4 inches before it lost picture.

Not as clear a picture as I expected. The receiver is only about 60ft away. The color is average. Just wish the picture it sends was sharper. However, it does work well. I do get a scrolling line of interference occasionally. Would recommend this unit to others - I can live with the minor deficiencies.

Blew Wireless Network Out of My House!!!

Bottom Line:

I would only recommend this IF YOU DO NOT HAVE WIRELESS NETWORKING AT HOME!!!!! It is a great bang for the buck - but, it will knock out your wireless network. The evil red eyes are very visible - which is good for deterring folks - but they also know that its there ( bad?) Production company needs to add frequency tuner to allow for working around the wireless network issue and it would be a very good product. I now have a three wireless camera security system that I can only use when no one in my house wants to use the computers.

The setup of the camera system was fast and easy. Getting the correct angles took the most time during the setup. Connected the power adapter to the camera, battery won't work in my situation. Plugged in the receiver, camera's started working. One problem, as soon as the camera's were plugged in, I lost my wireless internet. This is a huge issue for me, being a Network Administration Teacher. I checked the signal frequencies and the camera's operated at wierd frequencies which rendered channels 1-7 useless by my router. By weird I mean that 7 channels are useless and the cameras only use 4 channels. I now have intermittent wifi but when I power up my laptop and connect to the wireless, the camera display is hazy and frequently drops connection. Because of this I have purchased a 802.11n router and network adapter to eliminate this issue since the n standard uses 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz.

Very easy to set up. Not the clearest picture ever, but gets the job done! Only problem: conflicts with 2.4GHz Cordless Phones. I simply got new phones, different GHz and works fine now. No real problem other than that; so far so good.

This prodict works well overall. I have a wireless internet router and have no problems whatsoever. The only thing that I do not like is the fact that it won't transmit as far as advertised. They say 300+ feet but I cannot get a clear picture beyond 100 feet. Other than that, this is a great product and I reccomend it highly.

By Korey w from Mableton GA on 5/6/2007

The prouduct is fine as long as you do not have wireless internet. I have ran into big problems in this area. If you have multiple cameras (i have four) you cant simple change your wireless lan frequency. Also do not mount on roof. They are not water proof as advertised. The highlight of the product is the nightvision which works really well.
