There are better ones in on-line auctions which detect motion and move, for a fraction of the price, but I needed one in a hurry. Like other reviewers said, you have to remove four screws on the bottom before the top will come off. The instructions just said to remove the top. Good ol' Radio Shack! Looks kinda klunky. My neighbor said most criminals are not very bright so maybe this will do the job.
The instructions need to read: TAKE OUT SCREWS TO REMOVE TOP FOR BATTERIES. I am so mad that it took so long to figure this out. But I am very happy with the product itself. What a great deterrent. We have bought several. No one knows it's a fake!
I've had one for years in my basement and am now ordering two more, one for my garage, and one for another area in the house.
They look real (don't look fake or cheap), they aren't too big, and the best thing is that the battery seems to last forever - I can't remember when I've last changed the batteries and the light seems to continue blinking.
i got this at the raidoshack in mattituck its great? it has a red light that blinks for about 4 months. it would be better if it moved back and forth but it is still super!!!! on the side it even says ccd color camera so people think that it has a color video. WORTH THE MONEY$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I have put these on the outside of some of my rental properties to deter theft of A/C units. Other neighbors have had their units stolen, while mine have remained untouched for over a year. It must work as a cheap theft deterent.
Yes the instructions included in the package were incorrect. There was not mention of having to remove the screws from the bottom of the simulated camera
