I bought this alarm clock yesterday and used the snooze alarm to wake myself up today. Even the softer alarm setting is loud enough to wake me up from across the room, and it's not a harsh sound, either.

I usually like to shop online, but this time I went to a Radio Shack store to look at alarm clocks in person, and I'm glad I did. I compared this clock to the Timex Extra-Loud Alarm Clock (63-1408), which costs a little less. The store staff let me plug in both clocks and try them out so that I could hear the alarms. I really liked the feel of the controls, the look of the display, and the sound of the alarm on the Extra Loud Alarm Clock with Green LED. I did NOT like the feel of the controls, the look of the display, or the sound of the alarm on the Timex Extra-Loud Alarm Clock. After trying out both clocks, the choice was easy -- I chose the big, green, wake-up machine!

This clock has an excellent battery back-up feature. I tested it by setting the alarm and then unplugging the clock. Although the battery will not power the display, the clock continues to keep time, and the alarm goes off just as loudly as usual! The instructions say that a 9V battery will keep the clock working for up to 8 hours without external power, which should be plenty long enough for the typical power outage.

This clock is so easy to use that I was able to figure out how to set the time and alarm without reading the instructions. The controls are all conveniently located on the front of the clock, and very nicely laid out. The display is gigantic and can easily be read from across the room, even at the dimmer brightness.

This no-frills, no-nonsense clock has everything you could want in a basic alarm clock. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

SO loud, you can't go wrong with this alarm. I am a HEAVY sleeper but this one never fails to wake me up . This alarm clock is the reason why I am still employed.

Great clock for night time viewing.
I looked long and hard to find one with the 2" numbers. Did not want or need the radio feature.
I'm going to buy another one for our RV.
