Careful about grounded plugs!!
By GoingGreenVerified Reviewer from Kirkland WA on 9/25/2008

This device works fine, but be advised that it does not accept grounded (three-prong) plugs, which many appliances have. To accomodate those, you need to do a clumsy work around with grounded plug adapters.

Defective - Turns Things On But Not Off

Manufacturing Error

This timer is supposed to work by the use of two kinds of inserts (trippers) that catch a cog switch wheel that has teeth alternating at two levels. The "ON" tripper (green) is suppose to catch the top level teeth and the "OFF" tripper (red) is supposed to catch the bottom level teeth of the switch wheel. To do this the two kinds of trippers (green and red) have to be made with protrusions at different ?heights? and therefore are made from different molds. However the unit I bought[...] had red and green trippers that had identical dimensions. As a result all the trippers (whether they were green or red) would only act to turn the switch ON. In other words the red trippers did not have the ?deeper? protrusion they needed to turn the switch OFF.So my (defective) unit just turns things ON and never OFF no matter where the trippers are inserted and no matter what color they are. It is clear that the same mold was used to make both the ON and OFF trippers and only the color was changed. This is not a manufacturing quality error it is a gross error in the manufacturing process that has likely affected thousands of units identically and rendered them inoperable. It shows that even minimal production sampling is not being performed. In my company heads would roll.

Like the other reviews ...

Like the other reviews posted by Radio Shack, I think the product's value would be enhanced by the availability of extra on/off pins.If the pins were made such that they could not be removed from the timer, this would not be so important. However, this same timer is sold under the "Intermatic" brand name also, perhaps they have the pins. Otherwise a good, reasonably priced product.

Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

Excellent product, but extra plastic clips should be available to purchase. If clips are lost product is useless.

Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

The product is very good, but Radio Shack should also sell separate, extra packages of the red and blue pins used to set the timer, in case they are lost.
