i have spent a lot of time trying to figure this equipment out and failed miserably. first. i was deceived by the radioshack add-ons, they suggest a usb squid plug-in to accomodate extra plugs. THIS TURNTALBE DOES NOT HAVE A USB PLUG!!! it works ok as a turntable to play your records on a stereo. but is useless for turning your records into digital files.

The time most spent (and wasted), was in setting my computer controls to match the input/output of the product's software. I had to access the volume control set-up, and make some changes in there.
I would recommend this product to a friend, but I would warn them to be in for a bumpy ride.
But once everything is lined up right, the sound will BLOW YOUR MIND!!!

I purchased this turntable when it was offered with Pyro Cakewalk software. It set up easily and the software installed flawlessly on my XP computer. The sound is good through the computer and even better through a stereo system. I was able to capture two of my old LPs that I hadn't heard in years and create CD's from them in just couple hours. I have since transfered several other vinyl albums to CD without any problems. The only draw back I had was that there was no documentation for the software itself and what was mentioned in the owners manual was very sparse. The built in "help" is ok but tedious to find answers for specific questions. I would recommend this to anyone who's on a budget and looking for a replacement turntable or someone wanting to capture those old vinyl records for CD or portable player use.

I spent over 25 hours playing with connections, recording settings, audio cards, and I could not get any volume through my computer. The software appeared to be working but product did not produce any sound through computer with and without pre-amp.
