I've tried several cheaper speakers on [...] but none could come close to the sound quality of yamaha. If you can afford to spend a little bit more money go for the NS-IW480. You'll get MUCH better bass response from the 8" woofer without taking up anymore space than the 280 model.

I installed these speakers quickly and easily in a large pool table room, two story foyer ceiling and two med size bedrooms. The sound is INCREDIBLE in all rooms. LIKE A CONCERT HALL, the wide range from lows to highs is only matched by the crisp and natural sound! Highly reccomended, not just for TV surround, use as main speakers in a room or area. LOVE THEM!!!!!
