Provide an improvement of the listening experience when used in a 5.1 system. Very efficient, yet quite light. The supplied mounting hardware is good also.
We are using these for our backyard patio. It's about a 500 sq ft area where people would normally be, but the yard is much bigger. I'm using a 100 Watt home receiver to drive them. They fill the area nicely with music. It's not blaring right next to the speakers, but you can still hear them on the far end of the deck.
I had a hard time deciding on these speakers. I finally went with them strickly on the price and the fact I could return them if they sounded bad. I consider myself an audiophile, but I have a realistic budget.
I must say these speaker sound okay. I compared them directly to my more expensive POLK home theater speakers and the difference wasn't bad. The Polk outdoor speakers I was considering were almost double the price. The KLH were slightly more brassy, but had a good overall sound. My wife even noticed the difference. But only as she listened to one then the other right away. I couldn't justify the extra money for the slightly better sound. A subwoofer is a must if you are expecting a lot of bass but these do have a balanced sound. They didn't completely drop out below 200Hz. You can hear the bass with these speakers. I was actually impressed because some speakers in this price range just plain leave the low end out. I play the bass and I just personally like to have a powerful low end. But these have enough that someone who was happy with their stock car radio would think these are fine.
Bottom line: If you are a general user that would just like to have some music outdoors and don't particularly care about the "fine details" in Mozart's symphonies, you'll like these speakers. If you do and you can afford it, you may want to go a little higher end.

I got these speakers hooked into my stereo reciever and all my gear:computer, dvd, vcr, dat recorder go into these.
I record my own music and these are perfect monitors to see how my music sounds on a modest priced system. I am getting better speakers for
professional sound playback, yet I am keeping these speakers for reference.

Replaced huge floor speakers with these on the wall kept powered subwoofer and used these as left and right channels. Great mids and highs. Gong to buy two more for the surround channels.
