I have these speakers hooked up to a old (circa 1976) Pioneer SX-650 receiver and it sounds better than average. The speakers are rated at 100W capacity and the Pioneer is only rated at 35W per channel, but they work well for what I need them for. Quite the bargain.
This is an update to my earlier post these speakers are good for your childrens stereos or using in the garage. Maybe a college dorm student if they don't care about sound quality. I found my old Bose 21 bookshelf speakers and they destroyed the KLH's. I am not a Bose fanboy but it is night and day difference. The KLH's need a descent tweeter and a longer throw woofer/midbass The surrond on the woofer is foam not rubber like a more expensive speaker. I have new Polk monitors at home and can say just save your money and get some small Polk's or Klipsch or even yard sale 15 year old Bose 21s.
Not a bad speaker for the money. A great utility speaker. I am using at my desk with my old Onkyo Reciever and changer. I am not scared to damage this speaker or worried if they get stolen.
I have a older Technique receiver which has the connections for 5.1 surround sound. So far I had 2 speakers hooked up to it *old Vector Research..which btw, still sound fantastic*.
I wanted to add 2 more speakers on the cheap.
I dropped by the local RS and saw these on sale.
Excellent quality/Sound/Price.
Well worth the money spent.
I use them for a back-up system and a "carry around where ever I need it" system and am very happy with them.
Just picked these up, they are a great bargain. I just want to clarify what a previous review stated. The price is for a pair of speakers. 2 speakers come in the box.
I was looking to replace a speaker in my old pioneer boxes. Found out it was cheaper to replace with these KLH speakers. And I'm glad I did. Awesome sound coming out of my new samsung 52" LCD TV now.
I bought these speakers to use for monitors for recording lp records onto cd's. The speakers areok for that purpose but I would not enjoy listening to them for pleasure. The sound is too"boxy". The Sherwood receiver from [...]that they are connected to is great for my purpose. You get what you pay for.
These speakers sound fantastic! I am a professional musician using these as my studio monitors. The sound is crisp and clear, as well as a decent bass response. If you really want low end, though, you should add a subwoofer. I use a JBL 10".
The only thing I feel I should mention is that you only get ONE speaker at a time, i.e., this is price EACH. If you look carefully, you will see this on the website.
