Used mainly for internet access , good response from usage and easily connects with other devices , only drawback noticed is that vista takes about 30gb of memory to run , but still 130 gb left over . More then enough if using external backups for music , photos etc.
I use the product for home us. I love it very eway to use but wish they would have a permant office program on it and not the trial one. But all in all it is a great laptop
This is a wonderful notebook for the money the only thing is you have to get use to windows vista i would also recommend upgrading your battery

I chose this notebook because it was available at the local store, it had Vista Home Premium, 3 USB, 1 Firewire, a card reader and the extra multimedia features. My wife and I where leaving to go a get our new adopted daughter and we wanted a notebook along so we could post pictures online and surf the net from our hotel room. For that purpose it was an excellent PC, and allowed us to share that special time with friends and family.
Over the last 2 months I have found that this is a great Notebook for doing basic tasks like surfing the net, Office tasks, watching video, and listening to music.
It is lacking in power with only 1 GB of RAM, upgradeable to 2 GB not the full 4 GB that Vista can handle. Launching and running applications was ok until I tried running Photoshop-CS3. It also boots rather slow, and has maybe a couple of hours of battery life.
The screen has a shinny surface which makes it very sharp, but this causes a lot of glare. It also has a narrow viewing angle, which makes editing pictures rather difficult.
As usual this HP is full of bloat ware, and lacks restore DVD. I would suggest running PC Decrapifier (not joking this is an actual application) to remove all the unwanted extra trial software, and then creating an image of the drive for a future system restore.
I will probably end up getting the extended life battery for $149 :-( from HP, and upgrade the ram to 2 GB.
Overall this is a welcome addition to my home network, and will be used when traveling, at meetings, and surfing the net. However, it will not be a replacement to my XP-Pro Desktop.
This machine is great. The performance is perfect and the built in webcam takes really sharp pictures. The only thing wrong is the battery i mean on hp recommended settings i can only get about 2 hours.Besides that this machine is well worth the money

[$] At that price, it's a steal. With a 160 GB hard drive and Intel Duo Core processor, it makes this computer one of the best. I can run multiple programs at once plus my music and not have it slow down. It came with a great software bundle including Microsoft Office 2007 and Norton's. The only problem I have with this computer is the battery life. If not on the charger, the battery lasts about 3-4 hours assuming you started at 100%. Other than that, this is a wonderful notebook.

Good looking computer with lots of lights and connectors. I purchased the tv card and maxed out the memory.both work well.I purchased USB-serial and USB-parallel cables to operate old printers and talk to older data terminals, works good. Setup has been easy. You must get used-to windows vista first.Internet setup very easy. No
connectors in rear gives more front desk space. The included remote works good and also operates the Pinnacle hdtv stick.

I love it it is a very nice laptop cons: HP puts to much useless apps. on this thing and it takes awhile to get them off but other than that I love it.

Not great for gaming... but for most other multimedia apps, it seemed decent. The DVD burner seems to take a long time to complete a disk. The screen is BEAUTIFUL, though. Easy to use on the internet, and for most applications. A bit heavier than I would like, but it is well worth it for the other features it has.

This notebook seems like a great buy. Good hard drive capacity, widescreen with a wide touchpad to go along with it, and loaded with features. However, it has some design flaws that should be kept in mind when making a purchase decision.
1. The mouse click buttons on the touchpad are too small. If you press a button at a wrong angle and happen to press the touchpad in the process your mouse cursor will drop away from where you expect it.
2. Those blue lights above the keyboard launch multimedia actions when touched, but there is no way to disable them or even change what programs they use, nor is there a way to control the sensitivity, and they are way too sensitive.
3. Battery life is terrible. I can't get 3 hours of use with the HP Recommended power settings. It is important to note this is a Core Duo machine, NOT to be confused with the Core 2 Duo. The Core Duo processor is not as power saving as the Core 2 Duo so the battery is bound to drain faster.
It's a great laptop for its price if you can put up with its shortcomings.
