Very small light thumb drive
By RicVerified Reviewer from East Providence, RI on 2/11/2008

Easy to use, Fast, Portable
Cons:
Fragile feeling
Best Uses:
Additional Storage, Backup, File Transfer
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The size and capacity of the 1G Cruzer are great.
The drive feels a little fragile with the sliding mechanism.
The keyring seems cheap, no lanyard included.
U3 is a pain and has caused me problems in Vista. I may remove U3 and be done with it upon further evaluation, especially with PortableApps which is free and works better.
Otherwise I use the Cruzer as a normal drive and use it gingerly to avoid breaking it. For everyday use I have an old Kingston DataTraveler II Plus, which feels much more solid and robust.

If you are careful with your thumb drives and will not use it daily this seems fine. If you will use it heavily, look for something sturdier with no moving parts.

Great storage for the price. Replaces my need for a laptop between office and home. This stores everything I need, travels with me, and fits in my pocket so forget the laptop and it's case. U3 is still a feature I have yet to tap... perhaps tomorrow

By InsaneNerd W from Starkville on 11/23/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good features, Good Value, Reliable

The U3 feature of these USB thumb drives was the main selling point for me. U3 allows you to install various programs to the thumb drive that are 100 percent portable (i.e. no registry keys or traces left on the computer you use them on). This allows you to take Thunderbird (Mozilla's Email client), Open Office, a compression utility, and various other programs with you wherever you go. In essence, a portable office. Everything is self contained and all that is needed is a Windows XP/2000 computer. Now, some of the programs do cost, but quite a few are free. Use as a mass storage device is unaffected by the addition of U3.

Pros:
Easy to use, Good features, Good Value, Reliable

The U3 software that comes preloaded can be removed with the Launchpad Removal tool located at Sandisk.com. Most of the programs are trial versions with option to but. Prepare to spend more money on this device if you plan to use their programs. Otherwise, an excellent little drive.

This flash drive is very ...
By Lam D from Sterling on 8/9/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good features, Good Value, Reliable

This flash drive is very durable. Though it leaves out the small size detail of the previous cruzer micro, it makes up for its retractable usb, which is pretty cool. This reduces the need for USB caps. The u3 software on the drive remains a mystery...as it stores unnecessary programs packed into the flash drive. You would have to learn how to get around the software if you want to make use of the flash drive as a mass storage drive. Other than that, overall value is at best.
