My 5 year old laptop had been dis/reassembled a few times to fix a power connector problem, but then it started shutting itself down right after the internal fans kicked into really high gear. It has an AMD 64 bit processor that always ran hot, but shutting down because of overheating was new. For [$] I figured that the Artic Silver was worth trying before tossing the laptop in the trash.It is a good thing that I followed the online instructions for applying the paste, because I would have applied a lot more than what was needed if I hadn't read them first. The results were immediate and amazing - the laptop runs substantially cooler, and hasn't turned itself off since.Now instead of tossing the laptop I'm installing Windows 7 on it; it runs MUCH faster than the XP Home SP3 system, and I expect to get several more years of use out of the laptop.

i used this on my pc, ps3 and a friends pc.
they all have been made 20 to 30 degrees cooler then before i put this on.
i love this stuff. you have to cycle your system a few times before getting into heavy use with it.
because it needs to cure but after that you can leave your system on 24/7 if you want to.
the stuff sony uses is like wax it hardens and cracks and liquifies runs all over the place.
it should be illeagal to use a inferior thermal compound because most problems come from that.
i need to do it to my new ps3 and soon need to have to buy more. although radio shack is more expensive then anyone else with this i will be buying it at my local store.

wow this stuff works so well I have this heavy duty gaming laptop and of course you could roast weenies on the back grill now it doesn't heat up whatsoever!!!!!!

I honestly did not believe in this stuff at first, but it proved me wrong. I use this to repair xbox 360's, and it takes time to activate but once it does there is no stopping it. I used to use Dynex brand, but they all came back a week later and I had to switch to as5.

I originally forgot to buy this when I ordered all my parts for the new computer I was building. Ended up using the compound that came with my new Coolermaster V8 to install onto a i7 920. That was a mistake; temps were way too high for my taste and overheating on burn in tests. I was surprised to find out my local RadioShack carried this brand of thermal compound and ran out the door to buy it right away. Now my i7 920 CPU doesn’t overheat while over clocking from stock 2.6 GHz to 3.8 GHz

Definitely the best for the job.It can be difficult to apply but still there is no other TIM(Thermal Interface Material) I recommend. And price wise(bought locally at RS) it compares to buying it online at Parts stores when you include shipping in the price. @ RS Stores its [$] and change, online at the only parts store I use anymore its [$], So there really is no reason to buy it online as long as your RS carries it. Especially if you forget to add it to your order when buying parts that will need it.

AS5 is the standard for all PC builds and repairs. Even if a system has stock paste on it when i repair it, i always replace it with AS5 anyway, because that little extra bonus makes my customers happy. When i show them that the system runs 10c cooler than before, they can't thank me enough, especially if they're gamers. This stuff is mandatory for overclocking, whether you're using air or water-cooling, nothing works as well as AS5 for reliable heat transfer and longevity. I use it on EVERY PC i repair or build.

This stuff is amazing! It helps keep my Intel Quad Core Processor at minimum temperatures, and if you use the guide on Arctic Silver's site to install it, it's incredibly simple. One of the best Thermal Compounds for processors I have every used!

This is some of the best cooling grease out in the market, its expensive and can't find it in all the radioshack stores, but it does it's job very well
