Look, you get two cameras for a really low price. How can anyone complain? The image quality is not superb, but I've seen cameras costing four times as much over Skype, and they look pretty lame, too. This is not broadcast TV, people, it is for consumer-grade internet messaging. Yes, you will need to turn a light on in the room so people can see you. Installed within 5 minutes under Vista. I'm guessing that some people who had trouble installing may have been connecting via an unpowered USB hub, and that may not always work. Try the ports directly on the PC.

even though I say buy it for an enemy I would not give this piece of human waist (yeah I am talking about what goes out the other end because to say what I want there is not allowed) to some one I did not like. go with a name camra that has proven itself I should have known pay more and have it work than go cheap and have to waist gas to return./and if I did not want to return it I would let it hit the trash.(in many small pieces)

This product was very poor in image quality. I could not get the camera to look good in any light and found it to be a very low end camera. If using Skype or another video chatting program I would suggest a higher resolution camera with a higher price tag. It looked legitimate in the store but steer clear. Go for a logitech or another trusted brand.

I had some problems with the set up on my sisters windows XP labtop but after 30 mintues it finally worked. I have only tried it on AIM6 but i will be using it on MSN Messanger. I would recommend this product.

I bought 2 sets (4 cams) and they all worked well. The resolution is not great, but if you go into the settings and set for low-light, it works fine with just a lamp in the room at night. Make sure you focus based on your distance from the camera, using the black ring around the lens. Makes a nice, simple visual chat easy and cheap.

Sheesh people. THIS IS A $15 WEBCAM (for 2 units)! Yes the quality is marginal and it requires a lot of light. BUT IT'S ONLY $15 for 2.

Setup was easy tho I only installed the drivers off of the cd (\driver\setup.exe) bypassing the setup of the VideoImpressions software. The camera was instantly recognized by WinXP (SP2) and has functioned each & every time I've used it.

Worked in Yahoo IM, MS Live Messenger, and AIM6. Haven't tested much beyond that.

** Before you begin installation, make sure you have the latest updates on all programs you think you will use with this system.

-with that said-

Can't get much easier than this. Took about 5 minutes per computer to set up. Install the software before you hook up the cameras. Software installation is self-explanatory. Camera is automatically detected with WinXP. Works great with Windows Live Messenger Video Conferencing. Hooked one cam up to a computer in one room and the other cam to a computer in another room, and the system worked with no problems. Automatically updates DirectX if you don't have the current version. Adjustable focus. Great product!

If you have problems, read the instructions. :)

For those who are looking for a basic webcam, this might suit the bill. I was so i wrestled with a 5-6 hrs of setup process and finally made it work.

caution XP users & who like to tinker around, incase you get a Installshield error , pls consult microsoft KB articles. there are multiple causes with multiple fixes there. For 2000 the setup was a breeze.

Pros:cheap & it works in well lighted rooms.sharp picture after some focussing.
cons:fussy setup.flimsy built.no bells and whistles (eg motion tracking)

Resolution
By Russ from San Francisco on 12/4/2007
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This web cam must be from the dark ages. The resolution for capture is just 320 x 240. Thats worse than the earliest video phones from years ago. No wonder it is on sale........the driver didn't work off the cd either. You have to find it online and download it and it will take awhile to find it.

Didn't work for me.
By Tim from Petersburg, PA on 11/24/2007
Cons:
Incompatible With My Computer, Slow or Inconsistent Connection
Describe Yourself:
Value Oriented
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I wouldn't recommend this product based on my experiences with it. The camera detection worked about 10 percent of the time. Most of the time the camera wasn't recognized by the computer. It didn't seem to autodetect at start-up either.

I have Windows xp with a duocore 2.66Ghz machine with 1 GB of ram, so I don't think that an underpowered or old system is the problem.

I did notice that the instructions say to choose the correct operating system, but there is no option to do this with the setup. Perhaps this is the problem?

I fooled around with this for about four hours. I'd have to say that I'm fairly experienced with setting up equipment. I've set up other webcams with no problem as well as tons of other software and hardware. I don't think that I've set up the camera incorrectly. I can't afford to take any more time messing with this - I'm taking these cameras back.

I will say that (for the price) the picture was fair to good. Needs lots of light though. Needs software adjustment, but the picture was acceptable.

I'll warn you as well of the poor design of the camera mount. The prongs of the base will push into the actual screen of your flat screen monitor! Watch out for this! You'll be buying a new monitor if you aren't careful. The camera is light and flops around everywhere so you will likely gouge your screen at some point.

I do not recommend!
