Wow... Lots of mixxed reviews. I've worked in the computer electronics business for many years, and I'd have to say this camera is a pretty good deal. The video editing software that comes with this camera is average and comparable with other more expensive name brand cameras..no big deal, I use software that I found elsewere. I have also been told by everyone that I have used any kind of video chat with, that the picture is great (and I've asked ALOT because of the reviews)..no matter who's IM, net meeting, or video use it has been. (maybe 10 different ones). For the price, I found it to work great.

On my WinXP PC, I had to reboot the PC before it recognized the camera. Yes, camera is dark out of the box no matter how much light you throw at it. That's because it needs to be setup to take it out of "default" mode. Easy way to setup is to get into MS NetMeeting that comes free with WIN95 and up. Easiest way to launch NM: START>RUN> and type "conf" and hit enter. Click on "Tools" in the menu bar, then "options" then click on the "video" tab. Note if your camera is recognized under "video camera properties". If yes: Click on "source" and this brings you to the camera's brightness, contrast, hue etc. For mic, you may have to go to "sounds" in control panel to find "USB mic" and launch a "capture" control fader to use mic, unless your newer PC has driver for usb mic in registry. Good luck!

The camera stopped working so my son uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall it. It would not recognize the driver. You can not delete the driver to reinstall it either. I tried that and his cd/dvd driver disappeared with it and I had to restore it. Basically he's had the camera for two weeks, and can no longer use it. It's now garbage.

I wouldn't recomend this product to anyone! It's not very quality of picture or navigating how to figure out problems with the way the settings are. It was pretty easy to set up and apparently compaitble with my windows vista software, but for using to chat, it has the poorest quality, doesn't do well in light and the instructions don't help. Also, when trying to connect, i had to try several times to view my camera from my pc and all i kept getting was a blank black screen....everytime. I would never buy this product and i'm taking mine back!!!

You need to download something off a CD to use this.. which I don't really like. I'd rather just plug it and use it without having to download anything. If you're using Windows Vista, then download using the Administrator account or it won't download. Also, once you've download it, the mic will only work in the admin account. It didn't work on the other accounts on my computer so that kinda sucks. But overall it's pretty good. It has really high quality images, but I guess that depends on your Internet connection.

I'm not surprised that half of you could not get this to work based on your spelling. This is not a hard camera to run guys. Yes the quality is only 1MP, most webcams are. Spend the extra $50 for a 1.3MP or 2MP if you would like. Little hard to see with low light, other than that works great. Drivers are availible for Vista, and no problems with XP.

I used to work at Radioshack and I bought this sucker on sale with my discount for [$]! And even then it isnt even worth [$]! Poor image (always looks like a JPEG file going through a blender) and its very bad in low light conditions. If I had a choice to buy this for [$] or buy a better webcam for [$] I would rather buy the expencive one. At least I would have a better chance of getting my money's worth.

We are not using it for moving video.
We are using it in a relatively clean and well-lit industrial setting for taking photographic records of mechanical assemblies. The field of view, resolution, and contrast are good, and the pictures are good enough for post-production comparisons. The camera will not stay in focus for more than a few hours, though.
I would not use it if we needed high-quality, high-color images or video.

I am an IT Specialist. A friend wanted an inexpensive way to communicate with long distance family members. Half the time, the computer would not see the device. When it would see the device, there was no image, no sound and after a couple tries, it went back to not seeing the device. In addition, there was no troubleshooting in the documentation, nothing online to assist with technical problems. It's going back. Hopefully [...]doesn't give grief on returns.

Easy to install on Windows XP, great video frame rate, great in low-light (enable low-light mode in the settings), and some cute video effects. Picture quality is decent. We're in the process of trying out 20 different webcams, and so far this is the best webcam for the price.

I was looking for a web cam with a built-in microphone for business training sessions. The picture function is not as important to me as the ability of the microphone to capture my voice.
My computer could not even detect my voice with this web cam. When I looked for the actual location of the "built-in" microphone, it is in the BACK of the camera! What web cam uses are being targeted here???

Sets up fast and easy. Downloaded drivers from [...] site and works perfect on Vista. Also I have another one that I use on XP. You can set the contrast, color, and other settings to your choice. Great cam for people who want to have a cam and it is better than the amount you pay for it. Nice, but don't understand how people can rate it so low. Judging from the reviews we are dealing with chimps.

This cam works great with Vista as long as you download the drivers from the [...] website. I have used it on XP too. Easy setup if you install drivers first and when finished, plug in cam and choose for Windows to install drivers automatically. Nice looking, light weight and good for laptops, or desktops. Nice clear pictures, but perhaps not up to the more expensive cams. Still resolution and color very good. There are software controls so you can "tweak" color, contrast, exposure. People who rate it low due to not being able to install it, not supporting Windows version are "ignorable". For the price and for common webcam use I recommend it! Great for teens, and a good buy overall! Have fun. [...]

This cam works great with my XP and Vista computers. [...] Easy setup and no problems. Good clear video picture and software allows for tweaking contrast, exposure, color and more. Great buy considering the price. Resolution very good, but not as sharp as a much higher priced cam. Looks nice, lightweight, and good with my laptop and desktops. I build computers and this cam works! No hassle, no incompatibility with Windows. Install drivers first until complete, plug in cam, when Windows says it found it, click for Windows to automatically find and install drivers from hard drive. Not rocket science!
